Yeah I saw that too -but the boffer one is refurb, "may have scratches" and only 30 day warranty though.

1MB L2 Cache sounds too weak for me
good but only 30 days wwareanty so cold for me
I bought my daughter one of these 6 months back with Windows 7, £280 from Amazon.

The APU seems to run very hot, well over 100 celcius according to reporting software but it doesn't shut down and the machine keeps on going - typically switched on for 12 hour stretches - it's meant to run cooler than that but she won't hand it over for me to investigate.

She plays Minecraft on it and doesn't report any issues, and Sims 3.

do you know what that is even used for? to be fair the l2 cache is largely irrelevant on a laptop IMO. sheer performance and efficiency wins every time.

To be fair £70 is a big difference.

Well, at least when it malfunctions and causes a fire which burns the house down to the ground you can turn to her and say "and this is why we can't have nice things"

Otherwise just sneak into her room while she's sleeping and take it out for a proper inspection before putting it back in.

If all else fails - play the daddy card and say the dog ate it but heres a brand spankin new laptop!
Same price from a reputable seller on Ebay too (with express delivery).....

Welcome aboard.
@3Spartan wow, I freak out when my AMD laptop hits 70 degrees C! I've got a HP G6 with an AMD A6 processor and even on a scorching hot day like today it doesn't go above 50 degrees C after several hours of use, the only time it gets near 70 is after like 45 minutes to an hour of gaming when I play something like Arkham City or Bioshock Infinite. You should get that laptop of yours checked out, as it's hitting a ridiculous temperature
Haswell it ain't.
excellent deal, i got the 350v5c for christmas and i recommended it highly, heat!

from my experience laptop cooling pads dont make a huge amount of difference. they wont chill your laptop to subzero temperatures or give you anywhere near to the temps you get on your desktop but I guess a 3-5'c drop and active airflow underneath the laptop is still good thing providing youre willing to part with the cash.

Though with that said. If your processor is hitting 100'c its time to get the compressed air, rubbing alcohol and thermal paste out.
A lot of OEM laptop makers use a really cheap thermal pad between the CPU an heatsink and it doesnt do a great job at all.

I think the max temp is about 115'c for that processor, Since no complaint has been made about the performance when the APU overheats I can only surmise that the APU isnt too far gone that it feels the need to start throttling to keep temperatures down.

Samsung have been known to manufacture laptops with woefully inadequate cooling systems. When things get that hot it can mess with other components near to it - even enough to melt the solder and cause hardware/electrical faults.
The cpu scores 1,625 on passmark, I bought a more powerful laptop (i3 380m) two years ago for the same price.

Cold from me.

I think the cooling system is woeful on this particular one. Still, I cannot get my hands on it to fix it, or even get a report on what temp it is running today.

Samsungs cooling systems arent as bad as Dell or Toshiba who place the fans for the laptop on the bottom on the unit so when you put it on your lap it cooks itself.
Bought A refurbished/return one of eBay some time ago for £220 and compared to my previous hp paviliondv6 is much cooler, don't really like the anti glare finished screen but hey

I managed to get a bit of info from the owner, the program is called "speccy."

Seems a bit too hot to me, even if its within its TD. It it were me I would start by using multiple programs to see if the temperature reported are all in the same ball park, maybe even shutdown the computer and enter the bios to see what that is reporting on the temp.

If its still high, I would check to see if the thermal pad is seated on the CPU correctly and/or replace it.

If all else fails a copper shim and decent thermal paste will get the best out of the laptops cooling system.

BTW: kids are notorious for using laptops on their bed, if it is the case, thats your problem.
Had this laptop delivered yesterday. Casing was defective (we noticed bowing at the hinge and on closer inspection the casing was open)....and WOW I've never known something to run so slow. OK, I know you're not going to get the best laptop at this price but it was ridiculous. Click on an icon and it took ages to actually register what I was asking it to do. My old laptop that I brought back in 2008 works a damn site better. Was glad how quickly you can return items with these drop off points, it went back today. Really sorry but it's cold from me... I too thought that this was a good deal until I had it in hand.... pay the extra money (or probably even the same) for something much better
Which is better between this one and thi:

HP Pavilion 15-b115sa 15.6-inch Sleekbook (AMD Dual-Core A6-4455M Processor 2.1GHz, 6 GB RAM, 750 GB HDD, Windows 8 64-Bit)

Both on the hot amazon bargains page endsmeet.webstarts.com/hot…tml
Price has changed to:
£329.97

Still a good price, but I'm looking for a laptop under £300 and preferably around the £250 mark.
