Last time I had checked and posted this deal Amazon.de didn't send these to UK.

Yesterday I recieved email/reminder from amazon.de that the item is sitting in my basket and waiting to finalise the purchase.

Surprisingly now I can add these to my basket and go through all purchase procedure until final confirmation.(Amazon.de calculate the price at £403.77 delivered).

This TV cost £599 in UK - Currys, JL, Argos

It has DVB-T/C/S2, so freeview sd and freesat hd should be working

VA type LCD because its a cheap 4k TV panel however it is also back lit so that would compensate in over areas.

Hot from me.

Mind you this 55" has been tested at £1500 (introductory price), therefore the expectations were very high for this price range.

If they tested 40" model at £400, believe me, conclusion would be very different.

No duty, No VAT to be paid within EU!

bush is an argos brand i wouldn't even dare buy any tv from argos for the fear of returning it especially when its there own brand television.

Has anyone gone for this?

I'm going for this, how are the returns like with Amazon.de?

I paid €670 for this before Xmas in a bricks and mortar store. Its a good tv and the motion issues mentioned must have been either older firmware or something else affecting them as Netflix 4K and 4K from my PC are fine.

I'm tempted to get it as a monotir for my PC.. Is there any word on the chroma subsampling?

had 4 samsung flatscreens & five failures amongst them, all requiring them to go back to the store, workshop etc.

Never again with a samsung tv, they are simply cheap ladies of the night in expensive furs who will gobble (up) your cash & leave you high & dry.

& their phone "help" line sucks ass too.

Vergessen Sie nicht über die fabelhafte Bildqualität !

to counter the guy above I've had 2 Samsung tv's and while I was unhappy with the quality of the first, customer service replaced it with an upgrade. which to be fair also has it's flaws!
okay forget trying to give a balanced view...

I bought an 4k LG from Amazon.de and it came smashed as was only in the basic LG packaging. Sent back for free though (tbc). Might be different I guess but a slight risk. Great price!

is this better than the LG currently on offer at instores sainsburies ?

This or a ue40h6400?

I've got a 6400 but the lip sync issue is a real pain, thinking about alternatives

I assume that importing it from Germany won't cause any issues with using the smart features that are available in the UK?

Well

What I found out so far: some people claim that the TV runs in 4:4:4 after the new (1026) firmware. I sent a message to one of them to send confirmation. I'm looking to use this as my main display, and [email protected] 4:4:4 is a must..

When we purchase an item the contract is with the vendor and the buyer, now when it's Amazon UK any problems can be dealt with easily, do Amazon UK deal with purchases from Germany, France, Spain etc? If not, logistic problems will be a headache.

I don't know - the marketing says 200 Hz CMR*, HDMI 2.0* ...

But in reality I think * means NOT - and so it is a 50 Hz panel and HDMI 1.4. Just for the lies that is cold.

Putting * by "I think" was very brave, congrats for honesty

I had to send my lg40ub800v back. You can translate using chrome then is fairly simple to return. I had to phone up amazon Germany to discuss postage refund as you need to pay to send back. Bit annoying but should get my money back. After this I went with lg 42ub820v from sainsburys. Above is great though if you're willing to take the risk!

I just had a chat with the owner of one with the 1026 firmware, and confirmed [email protected] in 4:4:4. He also told me that the test is 100% readable all the way through: cdn.avsforum.com/b/b…png

Well, that is good news, but why can't they state that on the specifications? I like to buy things that are guaranteed to work, not just happen to work... :-)

Once I can find the right graphics card (GTX 750 is a bit old, GTX 950 still to new...), I am tempted to buy one as a monitor.

I ageree, 4K is generally a mess right now, half of the sets doesn't have HDMI 2.0, the ones they have only work with restricted colours, and the manuals tell nothing about it. I'm in the same situation, I'm very temted getting this, BUT most content, program interface is produced for 1080p. I know how painful it is to navigate a tiny UI'd Win desktop on a high-res display (Hello Surface!), it'll defenitely take some time. However, the biggest problem is gaming. unless you have some serious power under the hood, you're stuck with upscaling. Have you tried 720p on 1080p? It is pretty much like that, not a good experience. Upscaled games on 4k are terrible (talking about PC here, consoles might have some scaling trickery which would make them look OK, but don't quote me on this last bit). As good as it sounds, is it all worth it? Decisions, decisions..

Plastic flag waving chelsea ****.

Forget this tv. No such thing as a decent cheap 4k TV. Don't get seduced by the numbers game. Max refresh will be 120hz. All the major companies are manipulating the numbers. What matters is how the picture looks. But for 4k I would avoid this. Buying this 4k set and others at similar prices is false economy.

In general I agree, but do you have any information or experience on this specific set..? I concluded that (as a computer display) this tick all the boxes, a great display for the money with full chroma subsampling and 60hz in 4k, with decent colours (when calibrated). So what makes you say to "avoid this"? Most manufacturer distore specifications, so there's nothing new there; You often don't know what panel you'll end up getting (Sony, I'm looking at you!), it's not just 4k but the (rubbish) way the industry works nowasays. I'd say this is one of the decent ones based on what I learned about it.

anyone know anything about this company,ukelectronicsdirect.co.uk,claim to be selling samsung 55" 4k for £699.........i checked their telephone number out and they also sell e mail adresses etc for spam,,"if it sounds to good to be true" !!! and i cant find them in companies house.......ive probably answered my own question really

The MBPr won't be able to do 60hz when hooked up to this display. Would 30hz be horrific?

Okay - just ordered one, purely to use as a monitor, but also some PS4 gaming. I hope PS4 gaming looks decent on it. I guess all that is required to take advantage of the 4K resolution is a mini display port to hdmi adapter?

Better hope the chroma 4:4:4 firmware fix is true if you're going to use it as a monitor(I'm not seeing confirmation on other forums yet) ... I'm not aware of any DisplayPort to HDMI 2.0 adapters at the moment, think the best you'll get is [email protected], not 4K60Hz.
