£19.95 Del charge!

Old model only one HDMI.
£1249 really?

This is a very old model (2006?) - contrast ration is extremely low 5000:1

Better off buying something more up to date imho..................

Isn't this model 3 years old? From memory the model numbers are:

2006 R7 series
2007 R8 series
2008 A series
2009 B Series

If you really want to spend £500 on an HD ready 40" Samsung (not that I would personally) -

go for the ]40A436 @ Play - £499 + free delivery + Quidco + possible 5% discount (Varsity etc) - it is a 2008 model I believe.

Thanks for your comments, won't but it now. Any good deals out there for no more than £600? Any help would be appreciated, wanted to surprise my hubby!

This LG is a new model - I can't seem to find any reviews, but it has decent specs, and would probably do a good job, if you don't want 1080p - they stock this TV in Dixons, so you might be able to see it there before buying.Anyway - 42LH2000 42" LCD for £579 @ John Lewis - free delivery and free 5 year warranty - ]http//ww…spx

Always worth looking on the Richer Sounds website too, as they have some bargains (particularly in the ]clearance - pick up from store only)

Another heads up on this particular model. The power supply board has a more than average common fault. After about 2 years when you turn the TV on it just sits there ticking. Samsung charge over £200 for replacing the board. I've done the repair myself on mine at a cost of £1.50 in parts from Maplins.

So, if anyone's got one of these TV's and suffer from this fault in the future. Give me a shout and I'll put you on the right track.

I too would opt for this TV if I needed a 40" LCD right now, I already own a very similar one I bought for £600 last year, very nice TV. £500 is a good price for a 40" with these specs and I do like Samsung.

Hi There

Not to my knowledge. Upto now it seems to be just the R73 & R74's. The problem is when they manufactured the power supply board, the capacitors they used were the wrong microfarad value. It's always the same 2 - 4 on the board that go. It's a simply unsolder and replace with slightly higher value than original. Below is a photo of the 3 I replaced. I would advise replacing all 4, but Maplins only had 3 in stock.

You can tell the ones that need replacing with how the top has arched.

Oh good:thumbsup:,
The only tiny gripe I have with my set is every now & again the remote does not respond and I have to power off/on again. Very rare, once a month or so otherwise A.OK.

Cheers for the info stefor
