France used to use SECAM. I understand the new HD implementation is based on PAL. Regardless, the french user manual references PAL and does not mention SECAM. This television is exactly the same as the model you would buy in the UK, save the plug and the default OSD language.

I've voted hot, but.......won't changing the plug (probably moulded on and will need cutting off) invalidate the guarantee/warranty?

So do you have to create an Amazon account for the FR site and then put in a UK address, or does your UK account work on the FR site?

They are separate sites and as such you will need to create a new account on .fr

I have accounts with .com, co.uk, fr and de.

You mean vat has already been paid then.

TVA to be accurate as tax is paid in France. But then, Amazon is based in Luxembourg for tax reasons so who knows!

Regardless, there is nothing further to pay, and UK revenue and customs will have zero interest in your transaction.

I've only ever logged in to Amazon sites with my original UK account. Ordered from several of the European sites and the US with it.

Same here although I have added a US address and card to use the Amazon appstore, music cloud and one or two other offers before the appstore was available to uk accounts. I just switched my account settings back and forth to use the above.

Great TV for the price. Managed to get one with 5 year guarantee from Waitrose for £270

What is the returns policy if it arrives damaged or it develops problems later ?

still amazons return policy. they can hardly refuse it because they sent it willingly to another country.

France are not on DVB-T2 yet, you won't be able watch Freeview HD. Unless it's Samsung's "one TV fits all" model some sort.

Just ordered one of these for 356,17 Euros

Works out at around £299 so a Good Deal in my opinion

Thanks

Will amazon uk do a price match?

This televison is a DVB-T2 model, as sold globally by Samsung. France is currently using the DVB-T specification, which is backwards compatible with DVB-T2, which is why this model is offered for sale in France.

You miss the point.

Send it back to Amazon France at your expense months down the line ?

So your unhappy at the TV & want to return it within 30 days, does it go back to France ?

After 30 days ownership you are asked to contact the specialist repairer , is this in France as I'm sure Amazon UK will not want to know.

From the UK site but it wasn't bought in the UK so returns would go to France surely :

Our 30-day returns guarantee

If you are unhappy with your large item, you may return it to Amazon.co.uk within 30 days of the date of delivery. The item must be in its original condition, with all packaging materials, manuals, and accessories intact. We reserve the right to refuse returns or to charge you for our reasonable cost if the product is received otherwise than in accordance with these requirements.

This does not affect Your Statutory Rights.

Defective large items

If the item is defective, please visit our Returns Support Centre. Amazon.co.uk will arrange for our specialist repair service to contact you to discuss the defect and, if necessary, arrange to assess the item in person. They will work with you to resolve any issues that may arise. If it cannot be repaired, we will at our discretion arrange to replace the item.

You positive it's T2? Good to know as Samsung's french site states it is DVB-T. Also I am sure their sold TVs in Germany and Denmark are DVB-T MPEG2/4 only.

Can also someone tell me who's got EU/French model if interactive services work on these models as MHEG-5 used in UK and Ireland only?
