Just bought one. Best price I can see anywhere especially so with the free 5 year guarantee. Has very good reviews.

Cheapest price on Amazon for the TV is £496.44 and that's for a used TV! The next cheapest on Amazon is £564.43 inc delivery and no 5 year guarantee. That makes this deal £184.44 cheaper WITH a 5 year guarantee!!!

Although Fenwicks have a website, unfortunately they don't have an 'online' store so this is instore only. After I purchased this one, there were 5 left in Newcastle store yesterday.

Freeview HD
4 HDMI
AllShare
USB 2.0 Movie

I set it up yesterday to try it before it goes in the room that's being decorated. The picture is very good quality.

I went looking for it on their "website"
What an antiquated place that is, it's so basic.
I gave it heat anyway for what it's worth as I can only give 2 points.

Review (of 32", so you decide whether it holds true for the 40")...

Score 62%

Pros: Great HD pictures and good SD image quality, excellent connectivity, network streaming

Cons: Minor usability issues, less impressive sound

no store near me, perhaps if I email HM she will pick one up for me from the Windsor store when she's next at the Castle....

I think its about time fenwicks had a decent website. While looking for an outfit i found fenwicks was the only shop in town without a website, and had to ring them to see if they sold certain brands i had found on other shops websites. So i tend not to go there, mainly because there is no point in looking for something if you dont know if they even stock it !Especially clothes and shoes, you can take a chance on household things as they have the usual selection on par with John lewis etc But they are missing out on sales, even if it was just for info.

Blasphemous

The C580 is not below the D580, it's the predecessor to the D580. The C580 is generally acknowledged to be superior to the D580, as it has a better Processor, which is critical to SD/HD picture quality.

Couldn't agree more with the comments regarding Fenwicks needing a online sales website They must be missing a huge amount of sales.

As for reviews, Reevoo give the 'C' which is below the one in the OP a 9.1 out of 10: http://www.reevoo.com/p/samsung-le40c580

HDTV Picker give the model in the OP 9.1 out of 10. http://www.hdtvpicker.co.uk/samsung-le40d580-review

And average review for this TV on Amazon is 4.5 stars out of 5. amazon.co.uk/pro…s=1

'Below', 'Before', 'The Predecessor'... Discount Reevoo if you wish. HDTV Picker still gave it 9.1 out of 10. It still has an average user review score of 4.5 stars out of 5 on Amazon.

I was trying to give a range of reviews. You listed a review for the 32" model. We could argue that the two TVs are not the same and therefore that review is superfluous.

I have the 37 D580, its a sound telly. If you read reviews all you ever hear is people carping on about the C series and how its better than the D series. Whatever. I have a D series and its a decent telly (doesnt buzz like loads of people say the C series did), and I think it is great VFM. Had a Panasonic 37 E30B and couldnt put up with the horrendous backlight bleed that is so evident on so many LED tv's so it went back. This TV is a good spec LCD, which is what I wanted. I dont think anyone buying it will be dissapointed.

Yep, couldn't agree more. I included the reviews for those who want info and/or to demonstrate how good this TV is. However, as you say, 'owning' the TV and commenting is a different story to professional reviewers and that is why I also highlighted the Amazon reviews. I have this TV, I had it set up yesterday to try it out, it is very very good. Coupling the quality, price and bonus of a 5 year guarantee, it really is a cracking deal.
