(My second post, go easy!)

Model: Samsung QE49Q7FAM 4k Ultra HD QLED TV

IMO - A very good TV that is at the higher price end for a 49" but has recently been reduced. It also comes with a free Blu-Ray player.

I love the way the cables can be "hidden" with the included all in one cable box where you attach all your wires etc, then connect the box via a cable to the TV, no more hiding issues!

Also to note, at Curry's:
  • Receive Planet Earth II and a Certified UHD Premium Blu-ray player complimentary with this QLED TV More info
  • £100 off the marked price of this TV when you purchase using Your Plan flexible credit More info
  • Save up to £200 on selected Soundbars & 4k Blu-ray players when you buy this TV More info

This item is also available at John Lewis for £1399 including the free blu-ray player, but they can price match. See here:
johnlewis.com/sam…348

Bit about the TV:

  • 4K Ultra HD HDR
  • Catch-up TV & Streaming with Tizen
  • Picture quality: 3100 PQI
  • Tuner: TVPlus & Twin Freesat HD
  • Connectivity: HDMI x 4

Quidco also have an exclusive £70 off all TV's over £1000 (ends 23/09/2017) - bringing this down to £1229 !!

Thanks to user Z11 -

Cheers, will add to the details!
QLED is a clever ploy to fool people into thinking they are buying OLED. Samdung's days are over.
A bit like LED TVs, if you recall the switch to LED backlights.

They all do it with marketing terma. I mean SAMSUNG now makes an OLED Retina display, especially for Apple.

Are you sure it was the TV that was drunk?

Might still be.
Seen that Ambulance series there's plenty TV's making a spectacle of them selves.

No chance ,there biggest electronic company for TVs and with them not backing oled it's days could be short lived ...heard it here first
I still wonder why Samsung thought this would be a good idea.

Heard it here first because it's wrong. OLED doesn't need to be backed by Samsung. Not with the reviews OLEDs are getting and backing by other companies such as LG. There will always be a market for higher end panels with superior performance. Samsung is a corrupt company with appalling customer service. Sure they will continue but they wont be getting any of my cash.
Am I missing something here but this tv was selling for 2k until fairly recently and I thought it seemed a pretty hot deal when I saw it had gone down to £1399 recently. I personally would rather get it from JL but seems a good price?

A leading international AV consultancy has reported that the future of TV is stacked heavily in favor of Quantum Dot LED (QLED) rather than OLED technology, due to LG simply not being able to make enough OLED TVs to satisfy demand and drive prices down.

The eye-catching claim was made at the recent QLED And HDR10 Summit in Los Angeles by Ross Young, Founder and CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC). In a presentation entitled QD vs OLED TV Capacity And Cost Outlook, Young concluded that ‘OLED TV panel capacity is small and will remain small relative to LCD capacity through 2021.’

Oleds acount for a tiny part of the tv market and there growth will be so small compared to led and qled TVs over the next few years

Oled will be for the av lovers who crave deeper blacks ect just like plasma. Oh wait remember them ?

So they cant make enough to meet demand but they are going to fail? Prices may be more but the quality is better. I stand by what is said. Corrupt business and CEO going to jail. OLED future is bright. You heard it here but not first as its been said many times before and will be again.

Ha ha
If neither LG nor Samsung bring back 3D they won't be getting my money - regardless of whether or not OLED or QLED is better.

Yes I know I'm in the minority that still watch 3D movies but it seriously bugs me when I buy a load of 3D blurays and the soddin TV manufacturers then decide to drop the feature. For that reason my home cinema setup still uses a decent 1080p LED panel - so I can still enjoy 3D movies!.

By the time I'm ready to buy another TV I bet QLED will have long since died a death anyway

I'm confused here too - isn't this a smashing price for QLED? It's a lovely piece of tech!
I remember plasma. Still have my kuro 5090. Only thing ive seen on a par is OLED.

I'm still rocking a plasma panny which will be hard to beat but I need a set with Freesat for my next one so I'm limited to either the panasonic oled or samsung qled. The Panasonic is meant to be over complicated and not very bright so not sure yet.
So after the code and £70 topcashback this comes to £1129, with the blu ray player included = seems v good.

For those confident using eBay you could get £120 easy for the blu ray player, which I personally have no need for.

Bringing the overall cost down to £1000 with the 5 year warranty. Tempting...
Samsung QLED or LG b7?
ahh the blu ray player is OOS on this preventing me ordering the bundle....
People need to stop jumping on the bandwagon of saying QLED is fake OLED... it’s a different thing completely. Samsung don’t try and market it as individually lit pixels.
But the QLED range often have as good colour gamut, better peak brightness, good but not as good as OLeD blacks, and the viewing angles aren’t bad either. Yes they’re a little pricey for edge lit displays but they are better than most RGB units out there currently. Apart from a couple of Panasonic’s and Sony’s.

You must be in the 0.01%. My experience of 3D TV was terrible. I wonder if they even did any consumer panels to get peoples feedback before launching it

Some folks can't see 3D imagery very well; maybe you're in that predicament ?
