Ok why you may not like this - not full HD for it's size, not LCD if that is your want, not Panasonic, pick up only and not many people can find room in their car for an upright 50" plasma.

Why you should like this - It's a giant plasma HDTV for under £500 which your HD and gaming feeds will look huge on. If you have a big room and sit far back, it's a good bet. Not 1080? So what, I have a 720p projector and a 110" screen and that looks awesome still.

Don't see a problem with Samsung. TBH, the TFT you are using probably is a Samsung panel as they make majority of it.

To be fair, Samsung make some pretty cracking plasmas.... but this one isn't one of them...

I agree, I think Pioneer and Panasonic (in the correct order) makes some of the best plasma around. I believe Pioneer no longer make plasmas and joined Panasonic on producing LCD?? I maybe wrong.

I've got the 55" Samsung LED LCD TV, and it stunning!

BTW, heat added.

Pioneers are stunning. It's a shame that they're not producing plasmas anymore. I'd sell my left leg for a KRP-500.

Pioneer were going to carry on making TVs, and were going to use Panasonic panels in their plasma instead of their own for 2009, but never came to an arrangement, so stopped completely.

I have a 46" Sony Bravia and fiance cant seem to justify me buying a 55" LED Samsung... why not... dont understand women

the problem with most of these big tv's is that they have an enormous bezel and are actually quite thick and hefty. only the txl37v10b is dainty enough for these eyes and lightweight enough to dance around the living room with. biggest issue right now is that i'm holding a monkey maximum but even julian richer wants another half on top.

50" 720p?

Whats the point?

To watch TV on? To game on? Silly question surely?

I bought a 50' Samsung plasma TV 4 or 5 months ago, full 1080p HD for £599 from Bennets online. With the online voucher and Quidco it came to £520.

£20 more to get a full HD TV is a better deal in my book.

Sorry.....

No, it was a one off.

The cheapest you can get the same set now is pixmania for £629, with 5% topcashback and a £25 voucher bringing it a touch under £600 delivered (still an amazing price).

What's the point in this post, the Bennet's deal ended long ago so has got nothing whatsoever to do with this deal

50" 720p?Whats the point?

I have a 720p panny which was astonishingly good. Then I bought a 50 inch top of the range 1080p panny and was very disappointed with SD picture - HD wasn't much better than the 42PX80.

If you are watching a majority of SD sources then don't let any muppet tell you u must get a full HD cos it's marketing ******, it will normally look worse than a 720p on standard definition

:santa:

Can this be wall mounted?

Most name brand TVs can - I think here the question is can your wall take it!

I agree with you entirely, but watch out for the techies who seemingly have the power to telepathically see through your eyes to tell you what is and isn't a good picture for you. They are so nice giving you your opinion. I got sick of them once on this site. I know what picture I'm happy with and I'm fussy when it comes to picture quality but stopped listening to so called 'experts' ages ago.

Yeah kinda my point. Hell, I got an EDTV Panasonic PW5 plasma (480p) and with the 360 kicking out 1080i over component it slays any of my previous (Sony, Samsung, LG) LCD sets, and that's 5 years old! I posted this as for someone who uses mainly 720p/1080i feeds or below, or who wants one big tv, this is a pretty good deal. Sadly, TVs seem to provoke alot of snobbery when at the end of the day, most look pretty good and better than an old cheap CRT.

WAS. So no longer a deal, so can't really compare as this is still going. People get very cheap deals when Currys re-open stores for instance but those expired deals can't really be compared with a current deal as they are not available any more.

Whenever i think about buying a new tv i just walk into Currys/Comet and look at all those awful display screens. Every single screen looks fuzzy or blurred, when anything dares to move on the screen its as if these tv's dont have a clue what to do and just display a bunch of random colours. Even the £1000+ TV's share the same god awfulness.

Then i go home and switch on my old crt with built in surround sound and presto, picture perfect. When things move i can actually see what it is that is moving. All for a bargain £40 off fleabay.

I know i am SUPPOSED to want one of these its just that without the full range of HD channels they are all pretty much pointless arnt they?

£500 to watch a couple of part-time HD channels isnt a deal for me anyways. Personal opinion so neither hot or cold from me.

I felt the same when I was looking for my TV (Panasonic plasma). The display in shops certainly never look good, but trust me, when you get one home and set it up as it should be with a decent signal feed they can look stunning, even SD channels (some are better than others). Some people even thought they were watching an HD channel when it's actually just been a decent SD one.

But have to admit I use mine more for watching HD programmes downloaded off the internet, such as Fringe, Flashforward and Lost etc, really looks good on a big 42-50" screen in HD

I have a 42" and have to admit although it looked big at first would certainly go for 50" next time.

Oh, and I still believe there is nothing wrong with 50" 720p sets, the picture quality is more important than number of pixels....but having said that I don't know how good this particular set is.

Just? Samsung LCDs and even Plasmas are the best, along with some Sonys. It was one of the main reasons Microsoft wouldn't allow the Xbox 360 to be demo'd on- any other brand for so long. OftenUsually have a far superior contrast ratio too.
