It seems to me that Samsung 82” TVs don’t exist anymore
bought one of these a couple of weeks ago.
Is this better than they nu8000
MrSwitch04/01/2020 16:51

Any good?

Yes Seems good 2 controls, I however already had a better sound bar so I'm selling that so my TV bundle cost even less.

BT stores customer services is poor i paid for next day/select day delivery i ordered Thursday and wanted delivery on Monday, they charged me and sent out the order on Monday under 24 hour postage. which was free. then told me i was past the cut out (6pm) for next day delivery and didn't offer a refund on the delivery. I threatened to send it all back for a full refund if they didn't, the next day i got a email with return. shame as I'm a BT customer with my internet etc for years and its been flawless.
Shame abt the poor viewing angles
Heat!

Shame abt the poor viewing angles

I don't see what the fuss is about regarding the viewing angles. I've got the TV and its picture is awesome from wherever you sit in my lounge. If you sit at 80regrees then it's unrealistic to expecta good picture. The only thing I would like was a magic remote but unfortunately the TV doesn't support it.

i have my PC at a very close under to the right of the tv at funny angle and i can still see it fine (obviously not the best but i didn't expect it would of.)
Got the 49"version of this one a few weeks back. Decent enough TV. That's a brilliant price for the 55" considering the soundbar is part of the deal.

I have this tv and it's the best value for gaming.
Cheapest 120hz tv with Freesync and for me the killer feature is game motion plus!
I mostly play on PC with 60fps or more and can't stand 30fps on consoles but with game motion plus it feels like ~45fps.
One very important tweak for all ru series and q60!!
Disable CE dimming in service menu.
All edge lit samsung tvs have this anoiyng global dimming when the screen is dark brightness go down to 150-200 nits.

To be fair, that was a bit of a glitch at the time
Hi can someone measure feet to feet?

It's going on a TV Unit.

Does disabling it work fully? It doesn't seem to on most sets when I was reading up about it on AV Forums. Looks like this year's cheaper sets haven't even got it in the service menu.

I can confirm it works on my RU8000 and RU7100

Power off the TV fully and then press info, menu, mute and then power.
The TV should power on and then be in the service menu.
Go to SVC -> Other setting -> CAL Data restore.
When you click cal data restore an error message will pop up. click OK and scroll all the way back to the first menus.
You will now see the advanced tab at the bottom. Highlight it and press 0000.
Now go to Picture_2D > SubSetting and change PWM_INI_2D from 15 to 100 and PWM_MOVIE_INI from 30 to 100
Press power to reset tv.
You have now eliminated dimming when small bright objects are on the screen. It will still go dark when absolutely nothing is displayed, but this is not as noticeable a problem.

Thank you for the confirmation. I could live with it on a totally black screen, not with films or playing games though. Might pick up a 55" 7100 with it working on that and it being a decent price at the moment.

Hey Kris wondering if I can get your advice pls. Struggling to decide between the 55 inch ru7100 and ru8000. Is the 8000 series worth paying 200quid extra for? Also how do they both look with sports watch a lot of footy. Thanks in advance

Do you play games on the tv?
If not probably not worth it extra £200
Ru8000 has higher brightness and wider colour gamut but the biggest selling point is 120hz panel and game features like freesync or game motion plus for 30fps console games.

Hey thanks for the reply. I don't game just mainly for sports viewing in particular football. Does the 120hz panel make a noticeable difference for motion blur sports?

It does but I don't know if it's worth extra £200
Definitely less blur and judder it's also good for 24p content.
scroll down the page and you can pay only £475 for it in a damaged cardboard box

It's not really a magic remote, you don't get to point at the screen to do gestures in a "Wii" like way. It's a universal remote really.
