just told my brother to get this after we saw it in tjs but i told him i'd research it for him! next cheapest i could find was £240!

seems pretty nice for a hdmi all in one system

Great, find I have this system and it rocks, literally!!! The sound is amazing, my neighbours love it...not!!! Heat and Rep

Could I use this without rear speakers (room wont allow them) & keep them aside until telly is in a room which will let me use them?

There's no reason why not, if the auto calibration needs them to work just plug them in, run the cal and then unplug them..

what does that mean?

To get the full advantage of say Sky (particulary SkyHD in 5.1) or a PS3 you really should have an optical connection om a system - I was really tempted to get this for the gaming room until I noticed the lack of the optical input.

However if you're not using anything that has an optical output this should be great..

Paul.

Yeah thats the reason the only system worth getting in this price bracket is the sony z260 as it has optical input for xbox 360 surround.. no tall speakers though

The lack of any digital inputs means this system ought to be avoided. Its a shame because it looks good with the tall speakers.

You cannot get real 5:1 sound from anything other than DVDs in the player. So forget 5:1 sound from your PS3 or Xbox or from your Sky HD or Freesat..
The best you can get is pro-logic2, which is pretty good, but not a patch on true 5:1 surround sound.

Apologies, just realised that the one i Have is the TX35, not the TX25 as advertised here. I agree with simes, avoid this one if you can. It really is worth spending more to get at least 1 optical input. The TX35 has one and I use it for my PS3, as I use that for my blu-ray/dvd's so it works really well.

You can add wireless rear speakers to this for £13.99 if your local Comet has stock

The TX35 is also 800w and plays DivX via USB (Can't se a mention of the USB on the 25 ), I got my 35 for about £200 a year ago and I'm well happy with it.

For the Price this is a good deal though.

Hi, this probably isnt the right place to post this but im looking for something like this but I would want to connect my PS3 and Sky+ to it as well.

I dont really mind if theres 2 or 5 speakers, I just want some decent sound and dont want to spend a fortune, any ideas, tips or anything I should look out for or know.

Thanks for any help

yea guys i would be really appreciative if someone could tell me which one to buy, I recently bought a Samsung full hd tv for my room and ive been looking for some speakers for a while. I was about to get these but i want to connect them to my ps3 and xbox 360, my spending limit is 250! Any help whatever ever will be appreicated and sorry for posting here if im not supposed to !!:-D

I just paid £600 Onkyo 606 and Jamo 5.1 A102's speakers with cables.

Amazing with PS3 and Blu-Ray.

I have this one paired with my Samsung 40" lcd mate:

amazon.co.uk/Sam…XK/

It only has one optical in, but that's easily sorted by using a cheap optical selector like this:

kenable.co.uk/pro…013

I picked mine up for about £165 a few months ago from Amazon (I get VAT deducted as I'm in the Channel Islands) and it works fantastically with my Sky+/Xbox 360/Toshiba HD-DVD player.

Best buy on Which

Panasonic SC-PT550 Between £250 and £275. One on ebay for £180 (used)

This is a top-performing kit partly helped by its excellent stereo performance which few others could match. But crucially it could also deal with surround sound effects well too.

Like the other Best Buys, it’s a 5.1 system and features tall floor-standing speakers for the front channels.

It is pretty easy to set up and use, though attaching the cables to the speakers is a little tricky as the clamps are fiddly.

Each speaker can kick-out over 50W of power which is ample, even in a large room.

DVD picture quality is a notch-down on the best but still pretty good.

You can hook-up an external surround-sound source such as a Sky box and there’s a USB input for connecting an MP3 player.

Pros: Great surround and stereo sound, powerful amplifier, easy to use, connection for Sky box, USB input

Cons: DVD picture quality could be better

Speakers 5.1 comprises five surround sound speakers plus a bass speaker, known as a subwoofer. A 7.1 system means you can add an extra rear speakers for an enhanced effect. 2.1 systems do away with the rear and centre speakers, leaving only the subwoofer and two front speakers. 5

DVD player Does the package include a DVD player. Yes

Tuner Does the amplifier have a radio tuner built-in Yes

Active subwoofer Systems with an active subwoofer can normally be relied upon to deliver lower frequency sounds and more bass. No

Auto adjust This helps you get the best sound balance out of your new system. The kit bounces sounds from each speaker to a microphone placed where you expect to sit, measuring the ideal delay and distance for each speaker No

Hard disk System incorporates a hard-disk for recording No
Tuner bands FM
Tuner presets The number of stations that can be stored in the Tuner's memory. 30
RDS Radio Data System - this supplies additional information for display, such as the name of a station. Yes

Digital input A digital input means you can feed a surround-sound signal into your amplifier from a source other than the supplied DVD player - for instance, a Sky + box. Optical
High definition input This means a surround-sound signal can be fed into the amplifier from another piece of equipment other than the supplied DVD player. HDMI inputs can be connected directly to the latest high definition set-top boxes, TVs and DVD players. No

USB Some systems can playback MP3 tracks directly from a USB memory stick. Handy if you keep your music collection in a digital MP3 format. Yes

Thanks for the quick reply, i think im going to order this tonight then! thanks alot!!

I upgraded from the HT-THX25R to the HT-TZ315R. Much better model simply for the optical in.....and it's 1000 watt.

For three hundred quid, google Sony HT-SF1300 / HT-SS1300 (no speaker stands).

The very one i have just brought last Friday, took a couple of attempts to get the sound working using the optical cable i brought, but now it does it's awesome. Football isn't too nice on it though if you prefer to hear the commentary but for true HD 5.1 surround sound, it is superb. Pixmania do it for £142 + delivery but again you will have to buy the optical cable for sound (for me i got 1.5m one from maplins for £16)

I've had this system for a while and the lack of optical inputs definately means it will be getting replaced in the next 12 months.
It does have USB to play divx, but I'd still give this a miss. Save some extra pennies and get one with optical.

Changing the subject, does anyone know a good system like this that has 2 optical inputs, eg. one for PS3 and one for Sky.

I'm struggling to find a speaker system without a DVD player.

I want to connect my Freeview box and my Xbox 360 up to the speakers, and possibly my TV, as that has freeview built into it.

However I cant find anything

Am I going to have to buy an expensive amp and then some speakers seperatley do you think?

Cheers

why do you need both a freeview box and a tv with built in freeview? thats a bit of a waste of time and electricity?

not all amps are expensive. i cant point you in the right direction but when ive shopped about before ive seen some for good prices

Hi all

I am looking to add the tallboy speakers to my Samsung AVR-720 Amplifier.

Can anyone tell me what the impedence rating is on the tallboy speakers? Typically 4 ohm.

Many thanks
