This is the only Black Friday deal and Product which I've been tempted by but it still isn't much of a great deal for me to push the purchase button.

Disappointing Black Friday

How's this a deal? I bought the same for £89 last year.

guess?

Long shot, but does anybody know if either of these are compatible with the Acer Revo RL85?

The Samsung but for everyday use it isn't a difference you will notice unless you're benchmarking or maybe using some specific programs.

Either way I will wait if you can because the Crucial dropped to £80 last year and there is still cyber Monday to come.

Edit -

Of course we probably not going to see it that low but around £90 seems possible

Decent price considering the current state of the market.

its probably not going to make any real difference

Good price, I watched it since prime day and amazon themselves have never sold it for cheaper than £130

I think on paper Samsungs are the better drive but in real world you aren't likely to notice any difference

See here

"The 850 EVO level of performance is simply out of reach; Micron's 3D TLC drive is slower than Samsung's 3D TLC drive, and so will have to compete on price."

Some got lucky during the student 20% off warehouse: I have this drive and it cost £85 after discount.

Heated for the current price off SSDs though OP.

I just somehow got an automatic promotion applied and picked it up for 108 🔥🔥 it said I had under 15 mins with a countdown timer to buy it for that price

Personally wouldn't buy second hand hard drives but that's certainly a good way to buy one at a great price

Damn you got lucky, I would totally buy it for that price. Kinda drawn on what to do now. Do I buy it for this price or do I hope for a better deal? decision decisions

Mime still says 122?

Not that gr8 really as per all amazon "deals" yet another over hyped and disappointing black Friday what's that 3 years in a row now? hardly worth the effort.

This is the only Black Friday deal and Product which I've been tempted by but it still isn't much of a great deal for me to push the purchase button.

Disappointing Black Friday

Can you get the assassins creed origins download with this?

I literally have no idea. I was just checking at checkout and there was a countdown timer on top saying order within 13 minutes and get the deal price. Not sure how it works though

Honestly the difference in read/write speeds between the two is negligible.

That's why for me it comes down to price/capacity, the 525GB will appear in windows around 500GB, whereas the 500GB one will probably show as 475-480GB.

No free game with amazon, so if you want ACO you need to buy from a different place

I still don't think SSDs are worth the price vs amount storage

I leave my PC on 24/7 and 7200rpm HDDs are quick enough for 99% of my needs, sure on the odd time I need to boot up windows it's slow but I'd rather go get a cup of coffee while windows is booting and have 3tb of storage than be able to load up windows slightly faster and have 1/6th of the storage

SSDs are EVERYTHING in games with lots of textures, like totalwar games or wow, they speed the game up so much they are worth every penny

Boot up speeds are only one part of the big improvement that comes with SSDs. General OS performance/smoothness is increased a lot. Along with things like copy/moving files around the OS. Also slient operational is nice 😁.

A small SSD even 120GB(Although personally would start from 250GB because of games) + 7200rpm HDD(Hybrid ones like Seagate's firecuda) is my setup. I will give up space every time for having at least OS on an SSD.

Improvement from SSD cannot be overstated enough. Once you have it you generally don't want to go back.

I have about 60 games installed, there's no way I'd fit even half that on an SSD so it makes little difference to me

I'd agree with you IF they were actual problems encountered on my system but having not used SSD I have no benchmark to compare with so for me it's fine, I'll always go for space over speed that I don't even know I'm missing especially when that space is far far cheaper.

This is why you only install your most played on the SSD, then copy it to a HDD when youre sick of it and install a newer game on the SSD.

I have 2 250GB SSDs and a 2TB HDD and i dont even bother with games on the HDD or install games that load fast anyway.

I want another SSD and want ACO so wanna see if the 500GB drops lower on a site where i get ACO, ACO is easy worth £20

Yeah it's 2017 what's your point ? I'd rather more storage and use what money I save for hardware that's going to give me more FPS over slightly quicker load times

You're making your argument around a problem that I don't see as a problem

Will I make the switch to SSD in the future ? Yeah when prices are reasonable so I can get a 4tb drive

I'll re-phrase that for you:

No and I don't plan to until prices come down by a lot where a 4tb drive isn't half the cost of a full system build.

Don't get me wrong I know SSD's are far superior to HDD's but for the problem they solve which I don't see as a problem having not used one they're not worth the extra expense for me

Fair enough. It will probably take about 4-5 years as a random guess without some major breakthrough for SSD pricing to be in line with HDD. That's a long time waiting 😋 but seriously I do see your perspective because that was my point of view at one point until I had an SSD.

Is it bad if I say that I have my OS installed to an NVMe SSD and my games installed to 2x 512GB SSD's in RAID 0?

Did it satisfy the purpose?

If I was you, I'd buy a 120GB version.. put your windows on it, and then boot to which windows drive your doing that day, so if your gaming.. boot to your HD, if your streaming or internet then boot to SSD.

This is my setup now, and I find it excruciating surfing on the normal harddrive. Using the SSD is like having sex with a new partner for the first time every morning lol
