i think you mean "if a sata based ssd isn't fast enough"
For the average user a nvme pcie based ssd, is a waste compared to a bog standard 850/860 evo. Start doing content creation and bang you just want more now and faster too ..
Always get the right tools for the job you are doing..
Your link is SATA m.2, while this one is PCI-E nvme ssd
that is the 860 m.2 sata version max speed is around 560MB/s. the above is a 960 evo.. different things ..
nvme pcie- 3.0 x4 which can reach 3.5GB/s read/write
ACHI sata, can reach 560MB/S read/write
But why is the price so similar for such big differences?

Obviously, as others have pointed out the one from Scan is only SATA. A bit suspicious of that Scan listing as the URL implies 860 PRO but the link takes you to the 860 EVO. And the 860 EVO should be around £100 less than the 960 EVO NVMe.
According to Skinflint, about the only advantages of the 860 EVO are 600TB vs 400TB endurance and a 5 vs 3 years warranty. Well and max power consumption although with the 960 EVO being up to x6 times faster it might win on power if it can race-to-idle.
faster [binned] nand
I recall a 500MB Hard Drive being ~$500 around the mid 90s so yes, this is cheap.
