Nope! It's not quicker, the difference is only the size!

Not true, the 500GB reads at up to 1800mbps, the 250GB at up to 1500mbps

Good price, now need to wait for the 1TB to come down.
If we took out the various flavours of SSD and the retailers, they'd be next to nothing on this site
Is this much quicker than the 250gb 960 Evo Nvme?

Thanks for the info, I thought I’d read somewhere the 500gb was much faster but that must’ve been the 1tb.

1500mbps is the write speed. And only can see the difference in synthetic benchmarks. You won't be able to tell any difference in every day use.
How did you manage to get GBP159. The price including P&p to UK is 195.47 euro. It gives you GBP170.51 (according with google currency converter).

It’s the 960 pro version that’s faster in 500gb than 256gb.

am tempted but have the Samsung PM961 Polaris 512GB already >.<
It's £170 using fee free card.

This deal doesn't exist.
I should probably ask PC Perspective, but does anyone know if there is any latency benefit to NVME (less layers?) over a standard SATA 3 SSD Like my 850 Evo?
I like things snappy here.
Too long to do.

Price was 182.58 Euro at time of posting and is 197.58 right now. Stupid dynamic Amazon pricing

Please stop posting false info. Read/write speeds (amongst other things) go up as capacity increases.

Anyway, price showing as £176.77 for me.

Please stop posting false info. Read speed is NOT goes up. It is exactly the same on both model. Yes, the write speed is increased at the 500gb model, but the difference is not significant in normal everyday usage.
Help!

Does anyone no for certain if these work in Retina MacBook Pros? Mine is late 2013 MacbookPro11,1 and for a couple of years you couldn't get a larger SSD. It was something to do with the way the Mac writes to the SSD, it needed to be M2 and maybe other spec, someone in internet land says:

"As to why you can't just swap out the SSD with just anything has a lot to do with the M.2 standard and how it does not define the I/O dialog. While you can find SSD's which look exactly the same as yours they will not function as the firmware on the SSD dictates the dialog."

Then a few years ago a couple of companies started making compatible SSD including 1TB for about $1,000. They've since dropped in price to just under $600, and they even do a 2TB.

Here is the spec for the ones which are certified compatible. The question is, are these nicely priced Samsung ones, or the WD Black ones compatible with my MacBook Pro Retina 11,1 from late 2013?

SATA is a serial connection originally designed for spinning disks. NVMe is parallel connection using four PCI-Express lanes. Essentially, the the flash memory on an NVMe drive is directly accessible to the CPU, so NVMe offers much higher bandwidth and lower latency.
UserBenchmarks comparing 250GB and 500GB variants of the 960 EVO...

I have a 250GB 960 EVO boot drive and an 500GB Crucial MX500 d: drive (mainly for Steam games). This was a cost effective way of getting performance AND capacity when I made the purchases earlier in the year. I'd probably still go that route now, even if I could get a 500GB 960 EVO for under £159, but it is tempting

The write speed is 20% higher on the 500GB model. If you don't notice that in everyday use then you don't need/shouldn't be buying an NVME drive. That's a huge difference.

A simple "OK I was wrong" would have done.

You are right! Are you happy now?
Blistering hot price for a blistering hot SSD. Probably the best single upgrade you could give your PC
Price dropped to EUR 179,99 (was 182.58 when posted)!
Costs more than orginal post for me too £168.08.

A lot cheaper than UK Amazon but not £159.

I would not notice the difference, I've already bought the 250GB drive. Do I have to send it back now?

Don't worry about it. It is much better than you are expecting.
Couldn't resist bought it at £166.

Thanks Buckyball.

Maybe a silly question but here goes:
I have an Amazon.co.uk account am I able to order from Amazon.fr from it or do I need to open up a Amazon.fr account and start speaking french?
I want this drive, but need it to be below £150 to bite.

Not a silly question

Just use your normal Amazon login details.
Google translate is your friend which will automatically change webpage language to English

I think there is a way to set language preference in amazon, maybe someone can confirm
