If you buy it update the firmware right after receiving it

Purchased some during the week, firmware update wasn't needed

There seems to be bad press for Samsung drives recently. 980s and 990s having some problems apparently. Keep it in mind.

Do you need to stick it in a PC to do the firmware update or can it be done via PS5?

If the former is there any workaround if you don't have access to a PC with NVME slot

Just tried a quick Google don't think you can ams don't think you can put the drive in an enclosure to do so which is a bummer

For me it's still a lot of money but if you need a large storage with a heatsink + a decent speed then this is a good value at the moment.

Beware that there are bad batches of 2TB 980 Pro being reported now in addition to the 990 Pro last week. Topic starts at 2:39.

2TB 980 Pro being reported now

User reports have been coming in for a year, and the fix was released a year ago, despite what the misinformed "press" outlets are "reporting" now.
