Very good for this price. I'd be inclined to go for this over the Surface Pro due to the proper keyboard.

Ah, alright. I didn't order mine from ASDA because there was a lot of confusion in the thread about whether it comes with keyboard or not.

Also this has 11" screen vs. 10.1" on Surface. About the only thing is that I'm not sure so much CPU power is needed in this form factor - battery longevity might be more appreciated.

not bad but 64GB SSD isnt very much for full fat win8 unless youre using notepad you will struggle

True, though most Windows tablets are either 32 or 64GB.

The Ativ is a more "conventional" PC design (than Surface Pro) and the SSD is mSATA; if you check TabletPcReview - a few people managed to open it up and upgrade it relatively easily. Also WiFi card can be changed to 'AC. Sure, not easy work but doable.

Surface Pro seems to be a lot more complex to open - still mSATA SSD - but I personally would not try to open that one. (1 out of 10 for repair)

Surface pro for £359 or this anyone ???

Surface Pro has a better build quality and a nicer finish, it is also slightly more powerful in gaming perfomance than this.

However, the advantage of this is that it has a proper hinged keyboard dock, meaning that you can use it more easily in your lap and bed etc. This is also easier to open up and replace the mSATA SSD. A bigger screen is also nicer too.

Still 50/50. Was going to order the pro tomorrow but now this has come up
Going to look into both. Reviews and YouTube

Yes i5
£359 for the 64gb

does this really only have a 3-4 hour battery life?

Having picked up one of the samsungs today from asda and deciding within seconds of turning it on that it's going back, I would have to say the surface over this..

if your concerned about battery life get a NUC build simple!

I've got 2 64GB windows tablets and neither struggles for space, despite running quite a lot of apps, so I decided to check my development laptop to see how much you might expect to need on a relatively full machine. In 65GB of used space I have full office 2013 (including the development helpfiles etc), full Visual Studio 2012 including all help, Adobe CS6 suite, MS SQL 2008 and 2012 and a few other smaller apps, so it seems you could probably get away with 64GB so long as you're careful and not too wasteful of space.

One of the massive advantages of Windows is of course the way it works with USB drives and SD cards, so it's quite easy to install most apps to an external disk or SD card, since they simply appear like a normal disk, I run several apps directly of a 128GB SD card on one of my tablets.

Both this and the surface pro are quite tempting.....

Had one of these for about a week last year..

Keyboard dock was broken on mine
Pen is tiny (Didn't like inking with it)
Battery life was about 6 hours
Performance was fine

Returned it due to keyboard dock problems.. For a refund decided to wait for Surface Pro 2 to come down in price..

Ended up buying the recent £399 surface pro v1 bundle with office 365 "Very Very happy with it". Not sure I will get quidco without a fight but much prefer the Surface. Well keeping it..

The surface pro is very throttle happy and I can imagine this being the same. It may be slighly more powerful and only for thefirst couple of minutes until it downclocks itself.

Will this play any games I want a windows tablet that will pay the original company if heroes games.

Great price for this, ordered to replace a Dell Latitude 10....

Fantastic value now compared to the original astronomical launch price, Remember most reviews were carried out when this was about £999.00 and even then were mostly favourable with usually just battery life being slated.
Ordered mine from Asda because of their excellent returns setup.
Thanks to OP.

Why?

Serious back light bleed, not like the typical lighter patches on an IPS panel - black backgrounds looked like a freeze frame of a fireworks display. There also appeared to be a small amount of dust/dirt trapped under the glass. Aside from that in the brief go I had on it, it felt responsive, the pen was good and the tablet didn't feel as heavy as the specs implied. If the screen hadn't looked how it did, I think I would have been happy with it.

I think I'll get it from ASDA, returns look easier if its got issues as mentioned in this thread.

In that case it may be worth buying another to see if that has a screen without faults? While as you say you usually get patches on IPS screens - with monitors you can also go through 1-2 exchanges on models with light bleed.

Pity Amazon does not match - they still have the 128GB version at "astronomical price" of 1K

Indeed ASDA were great, it was delivered to store for next day collection and when I returned it they were more than happy to accept it back.

No doubt. I'm going to try something else though!

What is an NUC?

I'm after something ultra light for working on the go, must be as thin and powerful as this and have the fixed keyboard like this. I was going to get the T100 but the keyboard was crap. Think I'll wait a while longer, would prefer 4g too.

Collected mine from local Asda over the weekend - liking it a lot.
Nice piece of hardware, very responsive and notably slicker than Atom models I have tried. Keyboard is handy, especially in the initial setup et al. Picked up a genuine Samsung slip case thingy from the shiny new Samsung Experience store in Bournemouth - this holds the tablet and keyboard sections, along with pockets for other bits and bobs too.

nice price
