“Manufacture Refurbished” can be slightly misleading as it implies that the unit may have been damaged / repaired / secondhand etc. This is simply not the case, all our items are directly sourced from both manufacturers to the high street retailers, in most cases the items are customer 'no fault' returns, simply did not like the size / colour / cost etc, packaging issues, or, missing then replaced accessories. In all cases our items are then thoroughly bench tested to 100% functionality retail prepared and then suitably packaged for dispatch. On occasion, some items may show signs of minimal use, which may include minor cosmetic marks or a small scratch which do not affect the functionality in any way. Similarly, some original instructions or user manuals may be missing.

what is so special about? the drive can be found for around £30 refurbished in a case. Up conversion or upscaling of 4k is an authorized fraudolent statement that manufacturer are using to push sales.

I haven't posted a deal for a drive. This is for a Smart 3D Blu Ray player with Freeview+ HD With 1TB?

Even if you bought the 500gb for £220 and that drive to upgrade it is still going to cost more.

Sorry i don't see your point?

the point is that same product without the drive must cost considerably a lot less putting in account that that 4k upscaling is completely useless as I already been involved with that. Obviously, compared to your finding then should be ok. Still very expensive

Maybe he means you could buy the similar refurb 500GB model from Tesco for £129; then convert the Sammy to a 1TB model via the £30 external drive (assuming connections are the same and you can flash 1TB firmware to it etc etc), and have the benefit of a 500GB external drive afterwards, all for the same total £159 price, but presumably no longer with any warranty cos you've hacked it all to bits?
Sounds like a lot of faff for little potential gain to me, but each to their own.

Heat from me, even tho I don't have the patience to read the whole spec

Pretty much. If the price difference was say... £100-£200 then yeah go for it, upgrade stuff here and there, but here, you're looking at what a fiver's difference after you've done all that. Hardly worth it!

yes they do, however, it shows £129.00 plus £14.01 delivery, strange as they have listed buy it now for £129 and you can't bid on it

so looks like I'd be charged £143.01 in total.....for a 500Mb drive version

Forgive my ignorance but I don't have the time to research all of the options. Could someone please tell me if this is better than the laggy, unreliable Youview box that Talktalk gave me about 2 years ago? Is there anything that would give me give me Freeview HD as well as Netflix, iPlayer and other services and have a decent, fluid menu system?

The reviews are terrible, and the abundance of refurbished units is not a great sign either. I am very hesitant.

Its a good price, I have this (paid a lot more) I'm happy with it but the drive is a lot noisier than I would like

Try a newer BT G4 YouView box (Humax T2100), gives you all the main TV players and Netflix in a responsive box, much better than older boxes. Makes a great freeview HD box without any subscription, only possible downside is that only some of the Freeview Connect channels work.

Reviews looked okay. Good professional reviews and a handful of negative amazon reviews isn't much to go on as people will always be more inclined to leave negative comments.
Issues with iplayer seem to be resolved.

Tempted to get the 500GB from tesco for 129. That's the better deal IMO, assuming you're not planning to hoard 1Tb of content!

Yes, it is tempted. But you must be reading different reviews, the ones that I saw mentioned: slow GUI, confusing menu, confusing remote, frequent failure to record, unavailability of apps during recordings, and generally a lack of service from Samsung.

I am looking for a PVR with better usability and reliability than an ageing Humax, but that proves to be quite difficult.

Brilliant bluray player. I ha e this. Have it connected to Internet via hardwire and netflix installed. Plays very good. The 1tb hdd is handy too for any mkv movies stored or you can also hqve your music library on it
