Nice deal but not cheap enough compared to Sony or Panasonic who have the better players.

and in the case of the sony ones you can get 5 free blurays.

Plays true HD, although most do, some dont.

Id say its cheap enough compared to other players.

- £7.50 if 5% voucher still works

Voted cold because this is a last generation Samsung with the longer load times and a current generation Sony (S350) can be had for £30 more with some free Blu-rays worth way more than £30. If you don't need the extra BRs - sell them on ebay for a profit!

However, there is one thing that this player offers that the Sony and newer Samsungs don't - 5.1 analogue out! So if you have a non-HDMI equipped receiver or an older HDMI equipped receiver that can't take audio over HDMI then this unit will allow you to get HD audio from your old AV receiver without having to upgrade, though you will need 3 pairs of phono leads/interconnects.

299rrp - yeh maybe last year, not now!!

The RRP is usually set by the manufacturer, so the RRP should never change. The retail price will

I got the bdp1500 for 149 on amazon and a free disk. Its far superior, and a hell of a lot smaller. I saw this in t.j's last week, it's massive!

I just got one of these brand new & boxed from PC World in Ashford for £89.97, they're on sale as part of their "boxing day" sale. I also checked and found two more in Currys Digital in Dover.

not a touch on the sony 350. Cold too expensive for a crapsung!

samsung make some of the finest electrical stuff out there so your way off the mark slagging them off.

Just ordered mine....Thanks :-)

Nice player. I would say that though, I have one! Unlike some newer players, this baby has multichannel analogue outputs meaning that you can enjoy HD audio without needing a modern amp (the HD formats that this player internally decodes, i.e. everything apart from DTS-MA HD). Analogue output was removed from the "newer and shinier" BD-P1500.

New firmware came out today for this player, not sure what the changes are though:
