I agree!!

Sounds pretty naff to be honest. Lots of problems & complaints

£175 mist have been a long time ago lol

Most places sell this for around 75 quid so good price although certainly not amazing as asda suggest

Anybody know what you can do with the LAN connection on this?

It plays youtube vids on your telly and updates the firmware, other than that I'm stumped:p

I've had this player for over a year and never had any problems with it. Watch xvids from my usb stick and blu ray playback is excellent

I'm with CountFilth thought on this one after seeing those Amazon reviews.

i thought the toshiba from argos with lovefilm and £20 in vouchers was better.

serious deal - i have it and its a nice player. Mine came with a load of lovefilm stuff which I couldn't use but yeah - player is nice, divx off USB works well as does the photo slideshow.

Have some heat.
I have the PD1500, never skipped a beat.
Plays all my 20 plus films without issue, loads menus a lot faster than a Sony.
What is wrong with some people...?
This is a bargain at £60.
Ignore some of the reviews on Amazon, some are from muppets who have a single figure IQ!

The LAN socket is also for BD Live enabled discs to download extra content from the internet for storage on the player, such as the different skins for the GUI on the Transformers disc

Looking at the mixed reviews I'd guess that Samsung have a quality control problem with this player - if you get a good one then bargain, but odds are higher than average that you might get a bad one. At this price it might be worth the risk, especially as most complaints seem to show problems occurring in the first few weeks when there shouldn't be much trouble returning the unit.

I'd ignore the negative Amazon reviews to be honest, this is for ASDA, if you had any problems you could take it back and get a full refund within the year warranty.

Has anyone actually found one of these in their local?

Every time I see an ASDA offer on Blu-Ray players, they're never in stock as they're store-specific.

I will stick to my F&H cheapo Blu Ray player

Its used for updating the firmware i think

I've actually got one of these and they're fine. Plays pretty much anything off a usb stick, access to Youtube built in. And decent picture quality...cant really complain and I paid the full price!

LAN Connection is for accessing youtube videos etc...

WiFi LAN ready
The BD-P1600 comes with 2x USB ports. One port can be used to expand the players memory to take full advantage of the BD Live features. This leaves a second port free for the Samsung Wifi Dongle (optional accessory). Using the Wifi Dongle allows you to connect the player to your home wireless network for wireless access to BD Live features as well as firmware updates for your player

I did already say all that on the previous page

I bought this a few months ago from argos samsung BD-P1600-XEU and i think its well worth the money and i paid £89.99 its now £79.99 it plays everything i have thrown at it direct from a portable hdd inc bluray rips and mkvs after i done the update only one type of media didnt but it would not play with divx pro either def a good budget player

Do you know if it supports NTFS formatted drives via the USB like the LG BD390?

Most of my mkv's are over the 4gb FAT32 limit.

I bet this plays ToyStory unlike the LG BD3*0 I bought from ASDA a couple of weeks ago :-(

Looks great, MKV support, YouTube, Netflix (which hopefully will come to the UK)

I think it's implied rather than stated, in their SEL stating a reduction from £175 - which is far fetched to say the least.

Agreed. I've checked 3 branches* several times each over the last couple of months, mainly looking for the BPD3000 which has been posted variously at £50 and £60 on here, but they only have the BPD3100 at £124. Which again makes the reduction from £175 on this model laughable.

*Middlesbrough, Stockton, Hartlepool - I commute past all three daily. I hasten to add I'm not popping into the shop looking specifically for bluray player deals - I just check most times I'm in there.

i don't think there is!

:-) sorry could not resist.

"from £175" is misleading, please remove it. Other places like homebase sold it for £80/95.

I have used a portable wd elements 500gb drive and it played all mkvs in any size fomat at least up to 8gb which is my largest mkv

Try looking at the picture in Post #1 ! Then apologise to the OP.

I would have done that too, except my bedroom F&H died a death last week and had to go back for a full refund. I wasn't happy. The living room player's still fine, though.

Sounds good to me.
