Sorry but I think you should say its a monitor, not a tv.

Oh I'm so sorry, that was a typing mistake. Thanks for spotting it though!

Its ok I just thought it was a very cheap deal and was ready to order one, as I am after a 26/32 inch very cheap tv for the boys games room.

From what I can tell, delivery is £5.39 which means the total if buying from BT is £200.36.

Ebuyer have it for £194.98 and delivery is free providing you choose the 5 day super saver option:

I've also read that these monitors aren't too great, so I'd be a little wary.

Ah cheers for that, is it allowed to change the deal to another merchant? (I don't post deals here much)

From what I've read Samsung monitors are very good, and are one of the topsellers on Amazon. This BX2450 model is just released this year so reviews are scant but previous LED-backlit Samsung monitors have received good reviews as well. Here's a review of a 23in model:

Heh, I was trying to edit but my Internet decided to die on me. From what I can remember, they're not that great, but do some Google searches and look for reviews.

Which is the best Samsung 22-24 incher monitor? There is quite a lot to choose from their web site... like ebuyer.com/pro…584

I've been reading up on monitors for the past week or so and I was going to buy that exact monitor you linked. It's cheaper at Amazon or Aria though - I've heard some bad stories about Aria so shop there at your own peril.

The other Samsung model I've been looking at is the B2430H which is virtually identical in specs to the other Samsung one, but cheaper. However I'm not really a fan of the looks of the B2430H.

The "which is best" question is hard to answer as it depends on what your usage and budget is. For example if you play a lot of games you will want a fast response rate or even 120Hz, if you watch a lot of films and TV you'll want better black levels and contrast or if you do a lot of professional photo/video work you'll want the best colour reproduction.

I play a lot a games hence I was looking at those particular Samsungs, the colours won't be as good as some other panel types, but responsiveness is my foremost priority.

Thanks crackerbear, I do mainly movies + photo, but I still consider the one I linked before... to spend no more than 200, plus it will be plugged to laptop...

For that kind of budget, in that case you may want to look at the BenQ EW2420 or BenQ VW2420H, both for just under £170. Both models are basically the same except the EW2420, from what I can tell, has built in speakers and an extra HDMI and is currently slightly cheaper, so is probably the better buy.

Read the reviews for the VW2420H and see what you think:

trustedreviews.com/mon…/p1

expertreviews.co.uk/mon…20h

They use VA panel technology and LED backlighting which is better than the TN panels used for the Samsungs mentioned in my previous post for colour reproduction and black levels - great for movies and photo work. It still doesn't beat the top end IPS panels for colour quality, but expect to pay at least £260 for a good one of those (i.e. the Dell U2311H). They're also not quite as fast as the Samsungs with TN panels, but considering gaming isn't a priority, it shouldn't be too much of a concern and should be fine for your usage.

The BenQ EW2420 was posted as deal on this site a few days ago:

For perfect colour reproduction it's the Dell, for a fraction of the input lag (note: NOT response time which does not include the lag which chipsets on monitors insert into latency times) which Hazro's are good at:
tftcentral.co.uk/rev…htm

Scroll down to the HZ26Wi which is what I have Hazro is what i'd suggest if lowering lag is important.

I will agree with that comment, the P2450H is great, I have mine hooked up to a PS3 & PC and can switch between the 2 with one touch of the monitors (buttonless?) buttons.

One comment I would make on the P2450H is that with no built in speakers, it can at first be a bit awkard setting up sound when connected to 2 systems, but I choose to have my speakers linked to the PS3 via the monitor and to have wireless headphones direct to the PC.

I am sure you could not match the quality and value for money of the P2450H in comparison to any similar sized 1080p television that is available at the moment.

What about:
contrast ratios - the models discussed in this thread all seem to be a few thousand:1, as opposed to millions:1, which LED TVs have. Shouldn't they be higher?
What about refresh rates? I don't see anything about them here.
We should be looking for at least 100Hz shouldn't we?

TVs aren't the same as monitors.

Most monitors (in the £200 price range) have a manufacturer quoted native contrast of 1000:1 - usually it's actually around 700-800:1, 900:1 for very good ones. Ignore dynamic contrast figures as they're just marketing (some have it quoted as being 20,000,000:1), it's the fixed native that you need to worry about.

The vast majority of monitors are at 60Hz and is sufficient for pretty much everyone. Only gamers or people who want to use 3D (usually gamers again though), will need more and want the 120Hz models.

I'd go for this one:

h10010.www1.hp.com/wwp…474

tftcentral.co.uk/rev…htm

And you could get 5% per off with a voucher code (HPQUIDCO) or other voucher code (HPVCC5HV) plus 6% quidco or 8% with topcashback

And this is a fantastic monitor by the way!

That's excluding VAT. If you include VAT, it's the same price. However as others have noted, there are other retailers offering similar prices but with free delivery.

I would get this monitor right now if only I've not overspent my limit this month lol
