Sort of. But it's a desktop OS that works primarily through the Chrome browser. For web browsing, email, basic tasks, it works very well - fast, light footprint, not the memory hog that Windows is etc. Obviously, there's Windows specific software that does not run but as long as you're aware of that, and don't see it as your only computer, it's great. If you're inclined, you can also create a dual boot Ubuntu partition which gives you access to Linux apps.

I have an Acer Chromebook which I think is excellent - light, portable, great battery life, instant on etc. I use it as my main portable machine, and have a Windows laptop for more power hungry tasks.

If you're skilled enough you can actually run Android apps on ChromeOS. Google it.

Its not letting me add it to my basket, saying out of stock. Showing as available on the warehouse list

Chromebooks are a bit like a car that doesn't drive on grass. "Oh but I mostly only drive on the road anyway so it doesn't matter". (_;)

No. It's just a browser with very few offline apps such as word, spreadsheet etc.

They are all separate products. If one doesn't add try another. I was just able to add one to my basket.

No those are for driving 17 minutes down the road for a school drop off. I mean that's why they need to be the size of a small bungalow.

Im wondering to get this, pop steam on it and use steam in-house streaming.

mmm........

whats the warranty?

whats the warranty?

It's for if it breaks down, you can get it fixed. Normally within a set period of time.

I don't think he/she asked for a definition of the term "warranty".

30 days - but it wont let you add them to your basket anyway. They come back now and then though, so worth keping your eye out

Who cares? You won't ever require a warranty for such a device... =/

Anyone ordered a "very good" item before from Amazon Warehouse? What was the condition like?

Just come back in stock but at £93.31

In that case, your comment was not only unhelpful but also unfunny.

A few things and always been brand new, usually they are just customer returns and the package has been retaped.

Thanks - went for one which said no cosmetic damage just missing accessories so fingers crossed it's pretty much as new! Bargain for £93 if so

I guess it's a tough audience.
There was nothing unhelpful about my reply. It was a factual response to the question.
Had it read "What is the warranty duration?" or "How long does the warranty last?".
Obviously I'd have responded differently.

Order with confidence from amazon, you can return for whatever reason within 30 days.

Considering the amount of stuff that's delivered through a browser these days this is a good alternative to a tablet if you want something more than a tablet but without the bloat of windows. Its more limited than windows but fine for the people who use a laptop for little more than browsing the internet and creating posters and whatnot, which is probably most people. If you're savvy as someone else said, set up a dual boot linux partition.
