Hot! Great upscaler

these are cool the USB connection allows for HD conn with a good menu system

can you connect a proper hard drive to it or just a memory pen stick?

Is this worth the extra from a bog standard player do you think?

We've got one of these and it's a great little dvd player. The upscaling is excellent, and the USB input plays pretty much anything I've thrown at it.

How would you rate Argos's £21.99 Bush Upscaling HDMI DVD player in comparison?

HDMI and USB seems very tempting, plus a good brand of image processor.

Seemss a good price

I have one of these. It's likely its just a duff unit I have, but it makes a weird buzz, fills the tv with horizontal lines and the sound is intermittent.

That said I read good reviews on it before I bought one as I have above, so I assume mines just a one off.

Heat added. I got one a year ago and still going. Looks good and if you've a Samsung TV it connects with AnyTimeConnect so you can sort of control stuff with one remote.

Good picture quality, USB is handy as others say for chucking the odd film or whatever on. Looks smart and works a treat. I paid mid £40's for it on Play a year ago so this is a good price.

For me was a good stop gap between this and a BluRay player - eg I didn't want to spend money on a new more expensive BD collection when I've a bejillion DVD's ... so upscaling them, for now, seemed to make better sense

I'm sorry, I can't tell whether previous comments refer to this Sammy or the Bush I was interested in. Ah, well, spread the heat and I might get round to buying this, seems the best value at the moment.

Like this review on amazon. A woman reviewing it, after her husband got it for her for valentines day. Even though she isn't a 'gadgety' person and isn't sure what HDMI is suposed to do. hmmm, wonder who that was really for.

defo worth "extra" (how cheap do you want??)

its a top quality unit and plays from hard drives and pens.

i think it played my .vob files too

Bought one of these from Sainsburys a few years back. Plays divx and xvid fine from usb. Upscalling is nice too.

Have had two problems with it so far though. One, a disk got stuck inside. I didnt know that is what had happened and contacted Samsung on their website for support. After about 8 days no one got back to me. Fixed it myself in the end.

Other thing that has recently started to happen is skipping in audio, from both usb files and proper dvd's. Past its warranty now so just waiting till it gets really bad so I have an excuse to replace it.

Have got one and not majorly impressed to be honest. It's quite noisy when playing DVDs and seems to emit a very small but noticeable high pitched noise when on standby - I've read a few other reviews that comment on this too.

I am owning one of this for more than 6 months now and really impressed with it. I also have Sammy LCD to i am at advantage of using single remote for both of these and it goes well with the finish of the TV. Having said that for DVD the remote is tiny anyway so would not bother much if someone has different TV. My daughter funnily thinks as it is tiny remote that is her remote and the one for TV is mine!

upscaling is great and i connect my WD 250GB USB HDD to this player to play divX. Plays like a charm!
have some heat for this price and quality it offers. when i bought it was around £40 and there was a deal on HUKD!

I've owned one for a while and I'm replacing it because the functionality isnt to my liking. I really dislike the (All be it sleek and stylish) touch sensitive buttons, and (Contrary to other comments on here) was not impressed with the upscaling.

Do you have it formatted to FAT32?

joshtbh

Do you have it formatted to FAT32?

Yes! the only limitation with that is i cannot play the files more than 4GB but it is not bothering me at present as generally all my DIVX are less than that.

fair dos, thanks for the response. Any idea on what file types it can handle please? for instance do you know if it can it play back VOB files or MKV files?
