Hahahaha.

Can I just say I bloody love my SAMSUNG washing machine. I use it to wash everything - the one year old (the four year old no longer fits and I received warnings from the health visitor). Potatoes. In fact with SAMSUNG's awesome 15 minute wash I even wash passing wildlife to keep my local environment clean.

SAMSUNG washing machines, they're bloody amazing and I'm not being paid to post this.

(Samsung: normal bank account is fine, thanks.)

With the SAMSUNG brand and the usually higher price band it would be expected they would be amongst the best quality machines. There appears to be reviews critical of faults and the quality, which may not justify a higher price for the SAMSUNG brand of washing machines and some buyers consider to expensive for average performance. Perhaps SAMSUNG washing machine (not the numerous other products) users would like to give their opinion in this different usually honest and helpful outlet ?
We Purchased a WW80K5413UW AddWash which is now £379 washer in white over 6 weeks ago from sonic Direct and it came with a offer of a Samsung 5 year warranty ( offer still running from 1st August 2019 - 31st August 2019 )

Our last Samsung was just over 8 years old and cost £229 from best buy in 2011 i posted the deal then on Hotukdeals. Just replaced it as it started to make random noise's and a small leak started on the front door seal , the washer was fault free until then so that's why we purchased a new one plus the offer of the Samsung 5 year warranty helped just a little.
below is the link to it the deal i posted back in 2011.

So need a new washing machine:
Thought about LG, found out about water hammering issue they have.
Thought about Samsung and people say overrated and also shakes the walls when working, finally the depth is not 55 but 63 including the door depth.
Looked at Bosch and was told not as quality as they used to be.
So what bl.ody machine should one buy

Unfortunately I have to agree with this statement with regards to critical faults. I have been owner of Samsung washing machine for past 4 years and 11 months. It failed us 3 times during that period(major faults), fortunately we were covered by warranty. Please, please do not follow the trend when people think more we spend then more reliable it will be, it does not work that way. After liasing with all techincian who came along to repair our Samsung they all said the same thing if you can go for LG or Siemens as they never get called out to fix them...

Hmmmm we paid close to 1k for our Samsung back in the day, I am pretty sure you will find something in this price range
These days even a Miele is not worth the price. A friend of mine does servicing/ repairs for many brands including Miele.

He has been in this job for over 20 years and has seen maybe one Miele with a fault till 3/4 years ago.
They were literally bulletproof and there were many 10+ year machines without any issues.

Nowadays more faults even with Miele. I suppose quality control is not as great as before..

What he says is to get a mid range machine ( around this price) and if you get maybe 4-5 years out of it then that's a bonus.

This machine is well worth it if you can get it at this price..

The LG water hammering issue will not affect everyone. I have one and it's excellent.
No issues at all yet. Reasonably priced best time to buy. 5 Year warranty.
Had a Samsung for over 3 years now. It’s a great washing machine and cleans clothes pretty good. It’s normally on once a day. I made sure the machine is level and stable on installation which is key for the machine plus clean out the filter every 3 months. I never use powder either, only tablets!
I have a Samsung washer/dryer and its been very reliable never had any issues with it. I have had it for 3.5 years and I would strongly recommend it. If an electrical item lasts over 5 years it's money well spent. I have always used calgon tablets up and until recently and I do not use washing powder only liquid capsules. I also carry out the maintenance wash every time the machine prompts me do so.
Bought this machine today. And installed. Works fine. Have not used the code, as it is a normal price on Curry's. 5 years warranty comes with registration with Samsung.

Upd. Paid 349. With the code -£20. Will be phoning them up.

What does it depend on? As in who is affected and who is not? How do I know if it will be an issue ?
Had ours for about 4 years, not one problem, it's being used most days. Great price.

Bosch and Siemens are the same company and use near identical parts but the Bosch ones are cheaper. I have said before LG and Bosch are very similar in terms of quality and design but I always recommend Bosch because the support is much better. If you google there are loads of horror stories about LG taking months to repair machines under warranty.

Samsungs are good in terms of quality but (used to repair them for a day job) they have three problems, the parts are difficult to source. They are a PITA to work on except the software. And the way the concrete counterweights on top of the machine are fixed to the tub is terrible and if they break off it will write off the machine.

On the plus side they play tunes when they finish a wash which seems to delight people.

So I would say Samsung is better than most for the price, but not as good as Bosch/SIemens and LG.
Samsung make phones and tvs. Anything else will break very quickly. (Reviews make me believe the same can be said about LG, though I have no experience of them first them.) Their "warranty" and after sales service are non-existent. DO NOT BUY A SAMSUNG.

Amazing thanku, what about the LG water hammer issue?

You know, they have done this for as long as I can remember, much more than any other machine. I never really thought of it as an issue but it depends where you have it, if you are running it overnight, and if a loud thud bothers you. I never had a customer complain about it although it's definitely noticeable.

I suspect if it really bothered you it could be greatly reduced by only opening the valve part way. It wouldn't be a deal breaker for me.

But I heard that it can cause damage to pipes. There was a case raised against LG in the US. I am surprised they still not addressed that

@Nicolas Get a grundig

GRUNDIG is simply badge engineering. Originally a German company established after World War 2. Best known for producing radios, TVs and reel to reel tape recorders (did NOT make white goods). Parts were sourced from PHILIPS who invested and eventually took over the company. As PHILIPS streamlined its operations it gradually divested its divisions, such as GRUNDIG, MARANTZ Hi-Fi and the PHILIPS TV and 'white goods' operations. GRUNDIG under new ownership went bankrupt and the brand name was sold. The GRUNDIG brand is now used on various products including those 'white goods' from the same source as BEKO, the VESTEL group.

Thanks for all the comments. Was about to purchase as I thought the price was quite good, but I'll stick to finding a Siemens/Bosch washing machine.
Bought this one 3 weeks ago for £399, do you think if I ring them, they will offer a difference?

Let us know how it went. I missed the discount code. So will be after -£20
.
My original message was concerning the quality and usage of SAMSUNG machines, when compared to other brands. As SAMSUNG machines currently include a 5 year warranty, this has to be taken into account when comparing machines in the same total price band. If buying from CURRYS a £349 machine (without 5 year warranty) would cost an extra £170 to equate to this SAMSUNG. On that basis it would mean this SAMSUNG should be compared to a machine (with 5 year warranty) at a total price of £519. Alternatively if deducting the value of a CURRYS 5 year warranty from the cost of this SAMSUNG it would equate to another brand of machine costing £220 (with standard 1 year warranty). CURRYS washing machine extended warranties appear to offer a more comprehensive cover. Therefore if this SAMSUNG could be considered as £220 value, what other machine would anyone compare it with @ £220 (standard 1 year warranty) or @ £350 (with the added CURRYS 5 year warranty priced @ £130) ? I've had this machine for 5 years and it has been excellent, still works perfectly.
Had ours barely 3 years, out of the 2 year warranty and its leaking water out of the front door.doesnt appear to have any holes in the rubber seal.never had a machine do this.total mystery

I have discussed the warranty situation with the SAMSUNG call centre as I was concerned about the conditions. SAMSUNG confirmed it was limited to parts and labour an%d home visit would only be made after diagnosis by phone. This concerns me as any fault could be attributed to usage, maintenance and wear and tear, apparently not covered. Obviously extending the warranty with SAMSUNG is free, but CURRYS offer to extend the SAMSUNG 2 year warranty to 5 years for £100. It might be considered pointless but if the CURRYS warranty is purchased at the same time as the machine almost every situation is covered. From purchase of the machine and warranty there would also be cover for accidental damage and an annual service during the full 5 years. It depends if the SAMSUNG T&Cs are acceptable.
