This is a good modern washing machine however due to the metals used on the drum, one of them will corrode in approximately 6 years time to the point that the drum will fail/drop off. So if you want a machine to last 10 years, this wont. The "spider" on the drum will need to be replaced the year after the warranty runs out. There are plenty of websites/forums and youtube videos showing this problem. robinsonconcepts.com/201…nt/

For this reason I have purchased the LG instead which also comes with a 5 year warranty and does not appear to have the same problem with corrosion. AEG/John Lewis (John Lewis washing machines are rebranded AEG ones) also provide good ones at close to this price point.

If knowing this you still want to buy this then it is a very good price for a good 9kg washing machine

Do you find that a sock always gets stuck by the door and it does not take enough fabric softener to keep the clothes soft and fresh?

I see you posting this on similar deals though can only imagine this may occur if machine kept in certain climatic conditions or a damp cellar /garage/ outbuildings.

Unlikely in a typical home environment.
Nice price for the 9kg 1400 spin.

Have the 8kg version running sweet over the last 2 years
I have this machine and its excellent. Quiet and massive and also gets your clothes clean - bonus !

You’ve got another 4 years left until
it packs in then - should have bought an LG.

that is not the case - the corrosion is a chemical reaction both between the steel drum and the aluminium/magnesium spider arm and the alkaline cleaning solution and the alluminium/magnesium spider arm. It doesn't matter where the washing machine is located. I have been posting because I have been looking at buying a new washing machine and the Samsung was one I was looking at until I read about reliability issues with the machine (I research thoroughly before spending my money)

It seems to be worse on Samsung machines but most other spider arms are also like these so could affect other similar drums. The fault is reported mostly for Samsung washing machines.

There are so many different forums which discuss this issue for the Samsung ecobubble machine - here are a couple more

Do not buy, bought the same model back in December for this price and the rubber seal around the door has cracked causing huge amounts of water to leak to the floor on each use. Will be repaired under warranty but something like this is not expected so soon.
This is the same but white for same price with no offer... chilly deal argos.co.uk/pro…890

Yes!! Kids socks are always in the door, hate that but love the machine otherwise. I use the daily wash cycle, i find with the quick wash cotton ones you do need more fabric softner but not with daily wash
Absolutely brilliant machine. We have the 8kg version for almost 5 years now.
£399 at AO and then you can get £40 off using SAVE40 and then 5% tcb
Excellent machine, better than my Miele. The ecobubble leaves clothes smelling lovely!

Yeah, the odd sock does lie around the door, but our washes are brill and we use concentrate conditioner so no issues there.
Just like to warn anyone purchasing that curry’s are a terrible terrible company for organising delivery. Pay a bit more and go to someone else.

We have this machine and it’s simply superb, can’t fault it and even with its little sock stuck on the door seal, I forgive it that...
Bought the 8kg few months ago for £349 a very good machine and economical too. Mine had Samsung 5 year parts and labour warranty so maybe this might have it too
Have this machine. No issues to report. Clothes come out nice and clean

Thanks for that - really helpful. I too bought the LG FH4U2VCN2 because of your recommendation. A bit more at £409.99 but a Which Best Buy.
I had a Bosch washing machine that lasted over 12 years, and then tripped the electricity on it's way out. OK, so this Samsung washing machine was ordered and delivered. Shaking since the day it arrived, and would without fail, trap 1 or 2 dirty socks in between the drum and door every wash. It was sent back after 2 weeks.

It was a light weight washing machine compared to my previous and subsequent Bosch machine. According to the delivery guy, the Samsung machine somehow uses water to weigh it down rather than concrete. The machine was level but still shook like a banshee, you'd have to put your weight on it to stop it shaking, the Bosch on the other hand, you put your hand on it and can hardly feeling it spinning.

Perhaps I had a bad one, who knows.
Would avoid samsung and currys altogether. Currys use subcontractors for installs and they are on final notice. The machines have issues with the fabric conditioner being taken in and being mixed. Wednesbury currys I've been there about 9 times sorting this out. Even the Samsung rep admitted they have issues with their machines. Heck even the delivery guy this morning said they always have swap outs on samsung machines. I had to swap mine out three times gave up. Even the staff had enough of samsung
my washine machine repair guy recommends bosch.
Got 8kg version, super quiet and no issues. John Lewis purchase

Yes, because the drum is steel and the spider is aluminium. They will react against each other, with the stronger one - dissolving the weaker one. This will happen however you treat your washing machine. The Ecobubble seems particularly susceptible to this, as do other brands which use a similar aluminium "spider".

LG F4J6VY2W from John Lewis for £419. Originally £379 from appliances direct but they failed to deliver for a saturday delivery. My day is worth more than the £40 saving so plumped for the John Lewis which is far more reliable.
Thanks fiqqer.

I'm looking to pick up a similar one today in the local Curry's as our washing machine pack in last night..

There are so many LG's that all appear to have the same spec but with different model numbers. This one looks pretty close to the one you picked up.

The main difference appears to be the steam setting on John Lewis one. Its still available for £399 but it currently only has a 2 year warranty.

My Bosch is never going to break down :/
