Upgrade?

SSD is flawed by design. Each use reduces it's lifespan.

It's a downgrade, a ticking clock until it can't write anymore.

Exact same goes for any piece of hardware then.

You would be surprised how much can be written to a decent SSD like this and it still function.

That's why heavy users would buy an MLC drive and not a TLC drive, they can be written to a lot more and last much longer. Hence the Samsung Pro drives having 5-10 year warranty.

True, but watch those SMART counters on a normal HDD and you may find they are not at 100 anymore, e.g. hours, start/stop count, flying hours, read/write/seek error rates, etc. A HDD's life also decreases with use...

you'd be hard pushed to reach the limits anyway, plus you are probably using an ssd incorrectly. I've had lots of ssd drives in desktops but always use them for the os and let programs like virus software. games and data files I put on a hard disk

I turn off defrag fir the ssd

mechanical drives used to be fine when 250gb or below but now being so large they dont last long

you're operating on old knowledge: SSD read/write life these days is longer than the life of the other components within it, as well as any PC you put it in, and certainly any mechanical HDD you have.

still a poor deal imo, thats pretty much the going rate for ~250GB
