Best HDD I have ever owned.

If you need convincing to buy this just check out this review. It really is that good

Wow, cheaper and cheaper. I can't believe how cheap these are now. I remember when these used to be well over £100

Excellent price! Though this WD 5,400rpm ECO model was the same price at the beginning of the month amazon.co.uk/gp/…-21

Knew I should have waited longer for these to drop even further

They'll be practically giving these away soon! Hot!

Samsungs are my #1

fast ,reliable and cool...and now ...also cheap

This is "INTERNAL" hard drive though not extrenal in USB housing.
Wish if this came with USB 3.0

Cheers mate, just bought one

Thanks for the post, just ordered one as I've deliberating for a few weeks now...
Just need a 2tb external now at a good price!

you can get an external housing however and put this drive in if you like.
I kind of prefer doing that over buying a ready made one, the price may not be any different, but you can choose exactly the drive you want and then decide what connetctions you want, USB2/3 or firewire or eSATA, or whether you want extras like divx decoding etc.

I personally use a sumvision esata docking station with my samsung drives, it means you can hot swap internal drives with no faffing. It has worked really well for the last few months.

They do a usb2 flavoured one as well, but am sure if there is not a USB3 one out yet, there must be one imminent

this hard drive is about a year old, has there been a product released after this that is faster?

My target price for this is 35, and at this rate should be a couple of months away, not realy in a rush. As im waiting for the i7 950 to drop £50.

Ok, I get the message.

Sort your posts out flamex.

Good price will buy two and run in raid 0 array.

Thanks

"Fantastic drive, one of the fastest out there. I have a 750GB F1 and a 500GB F3, both have been great."

The 750GB was fastest in the range followed by the 500GB and then the 1TB, it was featured in a pc shopper review about 18 months ago. I have one of these 1GB and have found it fine - £40 is cheap.

The new 2TB Samsung F4EG is faster on some benchmarks - sequential read/write in excess of 120MB/s.

Hmm... tempted to pull the 500gb F3 out of my machine and RAID this with my current 1tb.
£34.99 thanks to the Keynoir voucher

Bought and heat added, cheers

I guess Flamex hit a system fault - not his fault - all posts are exactly the same time

cheap mechanical drive, but not exceptionally reliable. Two years lifespan is average for the f3. For the price it's an absolute steal, been through two of these but you really can't beat the price per gb! If you need a faster storage solution that's cheapish , C300 64gb as a boot drive with one or more f3's as storage. Super performance right there!

Can you sort his posts out? No.... Can I sort them out? No... therefore it would be him that needed to remove 5 of the 6 messages which were posted irrespectively of whose fault it was.

You'll find this one does that speed too. I have 2 in a RAID0 pulling over 250MB/s sequential.

Noticeable improvement for game loads and in-game performance? (particularly titles like GTA).

Good speeds, I use WD Caviar Blues at the moment which are not the fastest drives but achieve 190MB/S which was pretty impressive, by the way do you know of a tool which will give me a write speed (HD Tune wont allow it on raid)

To be honest I've not played any games since I've installed them. Just not enough hours in the day! I've got a few games loaded on an Intel X25m G2 SSD and to be honest there isn't that much of a difference in loading times between that and the old Samsung 501LJ RAID0 I used to use. I think I might move the games on the SSD to the new RAID and keep the valuable SSD space for future apps. The SSD is all about the random read speeds. Therefore OS related stuff will always fly. I don't think there's much advantage using it for games.

Sure, give ATTO, CrystalDiscMark and HDTach a go - they should all give you good benchmarks.

Thanks op - just ordered

2 additional days is fine with me, in no hurry.

Good price, good drive ....HOT

Hot... has anyone seen a 1TB 2.5" drive cheap anywhere?

£39.36 @ Scan People... "Today Only" ...just keeps getting cheaper by the day

I am still going to buy at £35..still waiting
Edited by: "flamex" 7th Oct 2010

is this better than 3D?

NOOOOOO! Just got mine from Scan yesterday for £43 and free Hexus del. Lost out on a chicken burger meal!

cheaper at scan, and before anybody says it, its really easy to get free delivery with scan!

Stuck on deciding between this and the WD Caviar Black 1TB, it has double the cache and data transfer but is it really worth an extra £30?

1.5TB drives are under £50 (e.g. scan deals today). this is not good value unless you need a 1TB (why?) so why's it at 750degrees?

This may have less cache, but it's faster in tests than all the WD blacks, bar one RE model I think.
