If only more knew how truely awesome this tablet was & is.
As long as you are willing to flash roms this is the best 7" tablet out there, really it is.
Any jellybean goodness for this? I really like it but went for nexus 7 as it was cheaper and vanila.

Really wanted one!

I have one running ICS and it still knocks the spots off of most of the latest tabs
Official?
Great screen, great battery life, but I can't say this is £60-70 better than a Nexus 7.
I have one of these, purchased a few weeks ago at Amazon Warehouse for £122. It was already running (official release) ICS. In my opinion the best 7" tablet. Amazon offered this for £230 new at that time and I only looked in the Warehouse section because I'd missed the £230 deal...I think £230 is a decent price for this tablet.

Web gossip seems to suggest it won't be getting Jelly Bean, but it's only gossip, and there will inevitably be custom ROMs. And ICS is good enough for me anyway.

Pushing Galaxy 10.1 JellyBean out in the UK today. Hopefully other Samsung versions won't be far behind

No, it isn't.
Hope this gets the JB update!

how smooth is this with web browsing
The 7.7" tab isn't on Samsung's list of tablets to get the JB update

Even with ICS I still prefer it over my Nexus 7.

I am looking at the Nexus 7 with the intention to flash roms and customise it. Would you say the Samsung is better than Nexus for this?

is this eligible for a samsung cash back?
Samsung 7.7 wipes the floor with Nexus - no question

Think you may be badly advised - the Samsung 7.7 screen is amoled.

better screen? - lulz!!

And Tegra 3 is hardly any better than the Exynos in the 7.7.

Even the Omap 4460 in the Galaxy Nexus can power 720p res with no issues - GNex on JB is fast and smooth.
I have use of both - dad has 7.7, sis has N7. If you flash the 7.7 with a JB ROM there is no contest - the 7.7 wins in all area.

Keep living on benchmarks, I'll stick to the real world.
The best 7inch tablet money can buy. Finally a good price. HOT

I got the one with 3g for my brother as a gift and it is better than anything else on the market bar none. The absolute joy to use, look at or listen to. I got it for £299 and do not regret it a bit. Brother flashed ICS custom ROM to it, I'm sure JB will also be available at some point.

I've read about some screen marking issues, something to do with the way they're placed into the unit, any experiences?
Not sure what you mean by marking issues being placed into the unit. The screen isn't easily marked if that's what you mean.
Simply the best tablet from samsung although its a year old its amazing, i got one yesterday from bhs direct 32g too plus micro sd and excellent screen! And as soon as i switched it on it pushed ice cream sandwich love it , just get one its the best.
I have both galaxy tab 7.7 and a nexus 7, the 7.7 is better quality in every way, anyone that thinks different is in dream land. I've had it for 1 year and still consider it to be the best 7 inch tab around.
Jesus this is a bargain for this tab.

I got mine at £329 for the 16gb WiFI which was a good price.

The screen has to be seen to be believed. It blows the Nexus out the water. It also has an official ICS upgrade. If you have plenty of MKV's get this, as you can transfer on, plat without transcoding and enjoy the best screen available on the market. The screen looks better than my Panasonic VT50 Plasma.

I had to find the thread - forum.xda-developers.com/sho…622 Suction rings it says/shows.
JustLikeArkwright

I've read the thread and can say that none of the spotted blacks experienced on the tablet. The guy also changed his Galaxy S2 7 times! Because of screen issues. I own S2 and haven't seen any issues. Maybe it's just me or maybe the guy is paranoid.
Fantastic SAMOLED screen with great contrast and crispness, really slim and light form factor, great battery life, MicroSD slot, ability to add HDMI via dongle, full USB host via dongle and a decenty powerful CPU/GPU.

This is one of the best 7" tablets available, even given its age. Fantastic value at this price.

You are hopelessly wrong on both counts. The SAMOLED Plus screen on the Tab 7.7 is the best screen on any tablet by a country mile, anything that uses an LCD screen has no hope at all of competing. Go read some reviews of the Tab 7.7 and notice how every single one raves about the screen. It really is that good.

And performance is pretty much a wash. I don't have a Nexus 7 to hand right now, but I do have an Asus Transformer Prime which uses the same 1.3GHz Tegra 3 processor. The Asus takes 1420ms to run the SunSpider benchmark with the Jelly Bean browser, my Tab 7.7 takes 1550ms using the ICS browser.

The Nexus 7 is an excellent budget tablet, but comparing it to the 7.7, which is arguably the single best tablet on the market right now, is just silly.

am i missing something? best tablet from samsung yet that site for the deal says theres no interface? ie not usb, hdmi or anything, just a power socket?? surely theres something wrong with that lol and doesnt sound that impressive over the Tab's etc for the price..
You can get £15 off the price if you signup to Which? for £1, tempting.

I have a few questions about this tablet :-

1. Can it play 720p/1080p mkv movies ?, as I've read it has problems with files over 4GB.
2. What is the battery life like ?.
3. What's it like for reading books ?.

Thanks,
