Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 (Black/White) Pay as you go upgrade Unlocked - £109.95 @ Phones4U (instore)

Saw this in phones4u in town (Cardiff) and thought it was a good deal for a decent phone.

It's available in black and white, and it's only for pay as you go upgrade (think you need to have a sim card that's been topped up around £10 a month for past 6 months).

Best thing is that it is unlocked to all networks as standard so it doesn't matter what sim you go in with.

Also it seems to be the cheapest I've seen for the white version.

This deal is INSTORE ONLY as far as I know.

Good price. Paid £190 for my sisters at Christmas which was sim free.

The best value phone in the market today.

I just spotted this today in their reading branch, but when I checked, I found out the 109 price is only for an orange upgrade and O2 would be about 139. but he did confirm the phone would be sim free. so it's still a good price unlocked and new.

Son bought one from Doncaster branch yesterday paid £109.95 which included mandatory £10 top up went for O2..... They would have done it for cheaper if we had done it as an upgrade......

they were about £150 at Xmas.. I remember posting the deal.
768mb ram makes this a tempting budget 4.0+ phone.

It's on Gingerbread at the moment. Will be on Jellybean when Samsung get their finger out.

Yeah, all the Phones4u phones are sim free except for some chat 335 and 222s and Iphones that no one will buy as sim free cause they are a bit pricey Upgrades are usually cheaper on orange but since the phones are unlocked, you can use any sim card in them later on. Grab one of your friends, your grandma or whoever is still on payg. Sim does have to be at least 6 months old and regularly topped up. But try it, it either works or not.

Why should you go for this phone? Because it's only 200Mhz slower than the Galaxy S3 Mini which is the most overpriced phone on the market. Yes, the galaxy s3 mini is slimmer, cuter but hey, it's twice as much as the ACE2. Is it worth it? No. Get the ACE2 unless you can and want to afford a Nexus 4.

Would I be able to put in a contract sim from my iPhone 4S which is knackered for the third time !

I have just looked and they are asking me for £149 I have a pay as you go Vodafone had it for years and top up each month or more

You'll have to get an adapter to fit the micro sim into a regular sim size.

I didn't realize there were any phones4u stores open at this time on a Sunday. Remember this is instore only.

The store I found this in they said it was for any sim as long as it's been in use for at least 6 months and topped up regularly. They just take your number and check. Some people have said their stores will only get this price on orange, so it may be worth taking someone you know with an Orange PAYG sim that's regularly used.

I nearly went for one of these a few weeks ago, for £129, so this is a hot deal.

In the end I went for the S2 from Orange which was £199 (and £30 quidco if you could order online, came in and out of stock though). Mine was unlocked, many others who purchased were locked though. Probably still be able to find stock in various EE stores

S2 has been really impressive, now has 4.1.2, probably the best value quality phone IMHO, especially if you got the unlocked one with quidco.

I think most, if not all, are open on Sunday (I got this deal today, on a Sunday).

I meant I didn't realize they would be open after 8pm on a Sunday. The poster I was referring to said they had just checked (at around 9pm) and I didn't want them to miss out in case they didn't realise it was instore only.

£149.95 now?

Hot, this is a decent budget phone, assuming the update is coming soon.

Unfortunately, if you want to be sure that you will get updates, there seems to be only one option: Nexus.

Hi , I work at phones 4 u, it is 109 if you do a pay as you go upgrade (been on pay as you go for over 6 months and have topped up at least 10 pounds a month) otherwise as a new pay as you go connection it is 149.99 plus you need to top up 10 pounds so 159.99

Thanks for the info, does the upgrade also need a £10 top up ? (So total £119 ?)

I think this would make a great spare phone to my s2, apparently jellybean should be coming soon to Ace 2...

Nice recent review here, when phone was £160,

Very hot for just over £100

good deal if you can get it....

Hi DonkeyKong. No you do not need to top up when upgrading your pay as you go , only for a new connection, so upgrading is 109.99. It's an excellent deal. We sold our last 10 in Derby today. They are going fast.

can you get this using a prepay simcard ? ie tesco network etc ....

bought one of these at xmas.
very impressed and would recommend up to £150 assuming ics or jb is coming soon.

Should phones4u really have access to data such as when people have topped up, by how much, and just through a phone number?! Seems like a data protection issue to me.

Its not a data protection issue. They enter your phone number onto their system and the system then says whether the sim can be upgraded or not. Theycan't see who you've called

I am on Giff Gaff (recurring Goodybag), would I be able to get it at this price? I am not sure what PAYG upgrade means.

JC

EDIT: Just called my local phone4U and unfortunately GiffGaff doesn't apply to this deal, it has to be major network (ie Orange, Tmobile, Vodafone or O2)

I bought this phone (in white) brand new for 135 bones on ebay. Which included a 5 bone Orange top up and Wesc Bass headphones worth 15 bones. That comes to 105 bones for the phone itself, unlocking was another 5 bones - so pretty much the same bones as this offer i.e. 110 bones.

Below 150 bones you won't get a better phone.

bones? Is that code for dice... domino's or something else?

This phone is very good. Hot for those that can take advantage of the upgrade deal.

Just been in and its 109 for people with orange. 139 on o2

Its 149 for either virgin or voda sorry cant remember which one they said it was for

Personally I would go with the Xperia U for £40 quid less

£119.95 on t moby.i just rang up to check

What do you need too upgrade? a number that has been in use for 6 months with at least a tenner each month? would i be able to use my mates number? how would this effect him

where did you get the unlocking done????

ToughLeo

One of those dodgy websites, also available on ebay.

You can also do it for free if you root your phone.

you will only get this for £109 if you were with Orange otherwise it is £149 and no £10 pound top -up and new number, I have had three messages blocked here just lol

Any other good offers on the upgrades ?

If the Xperia u is only £70 (?) that's pretty good.

Its always the cheaper phones though, would like to see offers on the S3, etc

Excellent phone IMO, the telephony - reception/etc - on it is great IME. One of the best phones I've had.

what version of Android does this run?
