Great phone, it's very slick. Camera is disappointing and the Flash/Torch is weaker than the S3

Ah right u had me very confused for a bit there lol

The A5 (Cheap Tizen) and A7 (Possibly the S6) are out soon and this model is being discontinued.

In short the S5 and the Alpha are regarded as sales disasters hence why quite a few at Samsung lots their jobs. So they are pushing something new to revive sales.

P'S I just got my 2nd S5 absolutely love it - avoided Alpha as reviews suggested battery life was very poor

thought the only reason the alpha was being discontinued was that the cost to make the handset was too high which is why they are now making the cheaper models again??

I was urming and arring between the alpha and s5. The alpha is meant to be a premium looking phone but in my opinion it looks a bit like a s2. I bought the s5 and I'm happy with it.

Bad back?

Yup I've Plummed for the S5 Vodafone deal £279 brand new, haven't got round to unboxing it yet (_;)

I had an S5 then I sold it bought an Alpha. No regrets 4 months in, but as stated battery is poor.

The Alpha is a really nice phone to use and hold but seriously, one of the big things Samsung are generally good at is putting memory cards on phones so why on earth did they omit it from this? Was it to compete with the iPhone a little too much? I don't know but it made it a non-starter for me - 32GB isn't really enough and it wasn't as though there wasn't the chassis for it - there's space inside and it has a removable back, it's almost as if it was done on purpose...

It's a shame because it feels premium, something the S5 doesn't. I think they missed a trick with not waterproofing it as well - I just like the idea of knowing I've spent all this money on a phone at least the manufacturer has given me a bit back and offered a little protection for my outlay (not that I deliberately ever would dunk one).

anyone feel like treating me!?

How many gb ????

S5 all the way

Voted cold £289 for a "Grade A" second hand phone with miserly 2 month warranty
Far better pay another £43 for a brand new boxed spanking new sim free phone with 12 month warranty ,ordered a few phones off this site Hong Kong company based in the U.K all been delivered by Parcel force in about 5 working days

Expedite electronics is based in Hong Kong and do not publish their address on their website. Both should give cause for concern.
Also they will be hoping that customs do not impose import duty, and as a buyer you will be liable if they do. So do yourself a favour, at least buy from someone in the UK. At least you will then stand half a chance if something goes wrong.

sorry, think it should have read do they sell international models I.e. grey imports?

read a few reviews that say they recieved phone within a week all ok but had chinese instructions.

Looks great but spec wise it's very poor. As an iPhone user I don't base everything on specs but I wouldn't pick the alpha over the S5. However, for the price this isn't a bad deal.

Sorry, i was taking the mick, of course turning GPS off gonna save battery, so will putting it in plane mode!!

I spent £309 buying a Grade A Samsung Galaxy Note 3 handset. 5 months down the line the developed a hardware fault (motherboard failure).

I took the handset to a Samsung repair centre, and had my repair refused as the handset had been registered for a previous repair under the prior owners name. This is despite the fact that the handset has a 24 month manufacturer warranty against defects.

I contacted smartfonestore explaining the situation and the inability to use the manufacturer warranty. The manager Andy explained that they tested the handsets and that they could not guarantee any remaining warranty, and that as it was outside their 60 day warranty, I would have to arrange repair some how through a third party at my own expense.

So in summing up, if you buy a handset from these guys at several hundred pounds and after 2 months it develops a manufacturing fault and it's been registered by the previous owner for a repair, you've wasted your money.
