This will be the first of many deals I post if this gets a good response. I work at an ASDA store and would like to start sharing some of the deals I have come across instore. The store is located in Feltham.

The phone is normally £60. It was reduced to £49, so I bought it, but now it has been reduced even further to a ridiculous £32.50. Its a great entry level smartphone, and also is unlocked.

Stock is limited to the amount we receive from deliveries per day but when stock runs out it is quickly resupplied. I cannot be sure how long this particular deal will continue or if it is present in other stores but I doubt it.

No not at all :). It's just it takes a long time to collate deals for them just to be voted cold because the deal isn't online or nationwide. I don't want to waste yours or my time.
Are you sure it's unlocked? I was told that all phones sold by ASDA were locked to their respective networks.

Yeah that's what I was led to believe until I asked other employees who told me some ASDA phones are unlocked. The one I bought was as I put an O2/Tesco sim into it and it worked fine. The phones that are locked to networks are Orange, Virgin, T-Mobile as the box is clearly branded. If the box is plain with no carrier sticker you can pretty much guarantee it's unlocked.
Great deal for an unlocked smartphone, cheers OP!

So I take it this phone is on ASDA mobile then, which piggybacks on Vodafone but this particular handset is unlocked. Will check it out over the wkend. Thanks.
You go for it pal. There will always be the trolls but the majority appreciate someone taking the time and trouble to spread a few hot deals
Not a bad phone, was lucky to get the £20 one at Xmas and it functions perfectly well as a wifi hotspot. Lacking some games and apps due to the lower screen resolution but if it is unlocked then £32.50 is great for a knockaround phone.
Thanks for taking the the time to post this deal OP.
android?
Hi mate

Feltham is about 15 minutes down the road from me. Did they have quite a few left tonight?

NO STOCK LEFT IN THE MIDLANDS BIRMINGHAM AND SURROUNDING AREAS NO STOCK
Good little phone, bought this back when it was £40 from here about a year ago. It will come with android 2.1 probably but you can put 2.3 on it from http://www.madteam.co/forum/forum/ sign up and its all there.

There is even ICS but its not really useable at the moment.

i have one of these and it does everything a real smartphone does just not as good - gps is often poor, camera is near useless, even contacts opens slow and there are quite a few major apps that won't even show on play store as they aren't certified for the device (not to mention some that either display wrong or are unusable due to it's small and off aspect screen resolution). i'm not telling you not to get one - for the price what you get is brilliant - it has internet, google maps with directions and official play store, but be aware you are getting what you pay for. positives - always had a good internet signal (talkmobile), android 2.2 has given me at least 2 days of battery with regular use/internet and it's got a very responsive screen plus it's small so easily pocketable and quite tough (plastic back but even in pockets with keys/change screen protector has kept scraches off and several droppings make it's battery case fly off but have never damaged the phone).

also i note someone commented it's good for a wifi hotspot - i can confirm this as i used mine while between ISP's and while possibly network dependant i could get some great speeds from a room over with a strong signal.

for <£50 i daresay it's the best android handset by a mile and it's certainly a full smartphone but don't expect A-list performance - been over a year since last official update (2.2) and display issues or apps not showing on play store does happen.

instore only?
Thanks for taking the the time to post this deal OP.
You can take these straight to CEX and get £43 for them as 'Grade A, unlocked so instant profit.

If they are locked then the BML5 method can be used to unlock them very easily.
This isn't of use to me, but please post any future special offers. Thx.

Had a quick look on this website, I'm not sure its kosher even the address seems suspect ending .co not .co.uk or .com, after a bit of looking around had a pop up warning I should back up my computer, came out pronto and in the process of checking for viruses, just a heads up, may be wrong but lets be careful out there.

ADDENDUM A quick google shows .co is used (learnt something there) , virus scan clear but still did get that pop up which was definitely not a Microsoft warning

I just wanted to post to advise people that the stock we get in per delivery is extremely low, say about 10 or so. It is also dependent on people who own phone shops who come in and try to buy all the stock we have at once, which I hate. Also we have no way of knowing if there will be any delivery of more stock of the phone the next day. We get it when we get it. So i'd recommend you ring up before trekking to the store just to check stock levels so your time isn't wasted.
Had these in the Bridgend store as at 0845.

I have this phone and it's well worth the money for it. I put a custom ROM on mine which is better than the Samsung software that's preinstalled. All the details on how to do it can be found here...
XDA Forum

I have mine on 3 network with all you can eat data which you can happily tether the phone to your laptop and use as an internet connection.
that avatar you use is . . . not nice to put it mildly

i'll have to stop noticing these things

You can update it to official 2.3 via the Samsung Kies software (from the Samsung site) pretty easily. This phone was my introduction to Android, great value but as others have stated its quite slow - startup took flipping ages but that might have been something to do with the O2 branding mine was lumbered with.

Just called up the Feltham store to find that these are out of stock and moreover the person on the phone informed that these are locked to Asda network
low end android phone.... probably great for the kids... i was offered one of these free on a 6 pound a month tariff but i declined only cos its soooo basic but i guess you cant expect galaxy s3 features.... i had the galaxy mini but ended up getting rid as it was way too basic and pretty bad screen etc... but as i said for the price its ok if your after something basic

Why do cold votes upset people so much? You post a deal because you feel is a good deal and that's it. Up to everybody else what they want to do with it. Don't take it personally.

It would be helpful to put "instore only" and the location of the store in the head line. You maybe generating a lot of hot votes with the way you wrote your headline, but you also upset many people when they find out you can get this only in Feltham store. It's a bit like hiding the small print This could account for cold votes.
