The Samsung Galaxy Gear is a revolutionary piece of new technology that changes the way we stay connected.

Its stylish, wearable, and it intelligently connects with the Galaxy Note 3. It sits on your wrist, so you can instantly stay notified of incoming calls, texts, emails and alerts. You can even take photos with the built-in camera, control your music, and control your phone with voice recognition.

I have one of these and they are pretty good pieces of kit. You canread your texts on it and reply, you can receive or reject calls and take photos etc.Mine has survived 2 complete immersions in water unscathed, once for over 10 mins. The downside is that thishad now been superceded by the gear2. The upside is that this is a really good price compared to almost anywhere else.

Any reason why cold? I am interested at this price but waiting for some comments as to why not a bargain.

For this price, there's no reason why people should be voting it cold.

However, the 2 day battery life (Gear 2 apparently is less than that) is a show stopper for me. I still have my Pebble which lasts 7 days, and even then I sometimes can't be bothered to charge it. If you can deal with that though, great little gadget!

I am guessing this only works with galaxy range of phones ?

I have one of these and get at least 3-4 days battery life out of it. You cannot compare it to the pebble either, this is capable of so much more, hence the battery depletion,

Also, if like me you take it off when you go to bed, what is the hardship in throwing it on the charger.

This watch is fantastic in ways you only realise once you own it.

Have some heat, not sure why its going cold

reviews are better for Sony smart phone. this one really looks ugly.

Has anyone else seen the 25% off if you buy a handset. I was thinking of adding a £10 hanset and getting £25 off - so you pay £85 and get a free phone. However its not working.

Opps no it doesn’t they just states it on the page and over the little photo - very misleading.

I think I'd go Sony Smartwatch 2 for the same price, far more apps available as far as I'm aware.

Plus the Sony has an 'always on' screen.

It works with any Android phone if you install the Gear Manager. Some features don't show up on non-Galaxy devices - S-Voice got example ; but you can make and receive calls, read all notifications and use the camera functions fine. Have tested on a Moto G, Moto E, M8, G2 and Oneplus One with no problems. Battery lasts days if you turn off the auto screen light function.
Have to say though, you can pick these up for less from Cex - they're usually brand new ones people gave to them after getting them in the S4 bundle, and I'm pretty sure they're only around £80 now.

I'm back to a Pebble now as I found the stick-out camera module a bit annoying and the strap is very uncomfortable after a while - especially in warm weather. I had fun using my Gear but wouldn't buy another.

You can't reply to notifications - it's basically a notification ticker. I don't mind that though as chiefly it enables me to filter out who I do or don't wish to reply to without getting my phone out of my pocket. The Gear undoubtedly does more, and if you're a bit of a geek it's a fun device. I like the 'watchiness' of the Pebble though, and the fact that I don't really have to worry about charging it too much. It's good that you can pick up any high street 22mm strap and fit it too. The Gear is stuck with the rubber strap it comes with as it's basically a ribbon connector attached to a mic and speaker. It means there's a rather large metal clasp which tends to catch on things and clack on the desk.
