So what's the deal with this? It seems absurdly cheap for a Samsung - are they finally taking the fight to Xiaomi et al?
Good phone but as far as I understand there is no NFC nor screen is protected by GG?

Seems that way, I posted this last week from amazon Spain for the 64GB version for £233, bare in mind this is sold by amazon, and 128GB, absolute bargain.

They've been pulling it out the bag all year with the A series, now the M series has landed. Looks good.

Doesn't seem that way, no. Strange they'd leave out nfc on a phone coming to the UK.
That battery life though. 10/12 hour screen time?

I ordered. I don't need it, but 6000 mAh with AMOLED gets me all excited. And there's no in-display fingerprint reader so an extra bonus for @MrSwitch

Gonna guess *Cold by mistake

Voted hot with intent.

Never had a Samsung, but the battery tempts me. Any ideas how it compared to a 9T? Gonna guess slightly better, but not worth upgrading from.

.... Unless my 9T accidentally broke somehow ....

Ha, on paper the Sammy looks better.

But in real life who knows.

So what is the RAM on these? 4 or 6?

Hard to compare as quite different phones. This has double the battery capacity. A40 has AMOLED screen, NFC, Gorilla glass.
Wish Hotukdeals would let us post the realme X2 as a deal

It seems a like great phone and a great price.

4gb from what ive read.
Good
Any idea if this will do Netflix and Prime video in HD? Just returned an A8 because it didn't. For me it makes the AMOLED screen kinda pointless if actual HD content isn't supported. It's not listed here yet anyway help.netflix.com/en/…939

It comes with widevine L1, so will stream Netflix in HD.

So did the A8 to be fair but it still wasn't certified by Netflix, so 540p was the limit. Might have to wait for some early reviews.

Looks awesome How does this compare to the A50? I'm not too fussed about NFC...
This have NFC or not? Lol... kinda confused

It does not have NFC but does anyone know if it has wireless charging or not?
My son is looking for an upgrade for his Christmas. He is currently using a smashed up S7 edge. Is this a decent enough for a 14yr old. He doesn't seem to care about the latest or best phones but I don't know what one to get him. Tia

Personally I'd get him the honor 10 which is a very good value phone and can be found for around £150. If he isn't fussed by the latest phone I wouldn't spend too much. This is quite a big phone and he may not want that.
Ordered. Nice one @MrSwitch

This would be brilliant, kids forget to charge phones, you'd rarely have to charge this. Very good choice for a child imo
I bought one of these last Christmas for my daughter from spain... It's a really great phone and despite the cheaper price it doesn't feel like a cheaper device.. It runs YouTube in 1080 but not 4k. It also runs netflix in 1080.. No slouch either when it comes to gaming.. Really pleased with it.

Yes definitely.. My daughter (13) loves hers.. No complaints so far (rair) it feels and looks like a flagship..
