No its 2012 version. I have the 2014 version and can tell straightaway by the pic its the older model.

If this runs Kit Kat then it will suffer from the SD card issue (the SD card is crippled by this version of the Android OS, many apps will not work).
I bought the "Perfection" game app today, buy got a refund from Amazon as it will not run on my Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8" tablet which is less than a year old.

I would not recommend any Android tablet until this issue is sorted out.

At least with an Apple iPad you know what amount of storage you have available and are not tricked into thinking that you have access to another 32 Gb (in my case) of storage on your SD card, only to discover that your apps cannot access it!

Really poor decision by Google.

here goosey goosey

Google were trying to get manufacture's to remove SD expansion as internal is more reliable, faster etc...
for me it's not a great issue as I wouldn't use touchwiz anyway, even if i would, I most likely would root it on the first day and there's a simple solution for that.
u can't compare an iPad to any android tablet, there to different things, it's like comparing a car with a motorcycle.

except android is far superior to apple in every way.... hahahahahahaha ;-) ( how much do apple charge for 32gb of memory mmmmmm)

Except that it is not, each tablet has pros and cons. This is coming from someone who has an ipad and a samsung galaxy note 10.1
For anyone who manages to get this deal thensamsung flip case fornthis tablet is 6 pounds down from 29 pounds its pretty good except the magnets could do with beijg stronger.

I'm with you on this point, as I stated earlier this is a very frustrating state of affairs which was forced upon the public by Google with the "upgrade" of Jelly Bean to Kit Kat.

This " update" was done automatically on most devices and cannot be reversed without "rooting" the device. A very, very poor decision by Google which has led me to my decision NEVER to purchase another device ('phone or tablet) that runs Android until this issue is sorted out. One of the main reasons that I bought my Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8 was that I could easily expand the storage by inserting a large SD card - this feature was 'stolen' following the Kit Kat update resulting in thousands of complaints of devices becoming virtually crippled. There are some games that I purchased from Amazon app store prior to the 'update' which worked perfectly well (e.g. The Chase) which no longer work due to the fact that they require access to the SD card, which they now do not have,

So it is now Apple iPhone and Apple iPad for me, I know that you pay a premium price but you do get superior build quality and a solid OS.

Now all I need is an easy guide on how to root my Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8" - can anyone give me any pointers?

Its actually like comparing a driverless car that allows you to drive only on certain roads with a ordinary car. Works well within this limitation but does not offer the flexiblity that rmany users require.

Bought this a year ago with JL for £270.

Yes it's a bit slower and heavier but for £150 with the SPEN a superb tablet.

Regarding SD card issues I have came to the conclusion after 4 card and 3 readers - it is either down to poor quality cards or readers or a simple read/write issue which sadly cannot be fixed.

All my cards were legit San Disk, I finally paid out for a much higher speed rating.

Oh avoid SDHX stick to 64GB SDHC
