blah blah blah resolution
blah blah blah old processor
blah blah blah some other stuff. etc

Great screen, fast & reliable, S-pen is excellent. A good amount of SDRAM, not the usual 1GB that most others have. Can easily add more storage and cases can be obtained for very little cash.
Great tablet for the price, even if it is obsolete.
My old one is still used every day, battery still as good, never lets us down and it has survived a few knocks and bashes.
Heated up.

Not forgetting :
blah blah blah Jelly Bean out of date

I'll wait till it hits £99, hot deal for now though.

Good value, but it is 2.5 years old, weighs a lot and compared to modern tablets thick and heavy. Will there be a problem with Battery life as it's sat on a shelf for so long

Blah-de-blah !

Good value although can't say it's one I'd go for.

It updates to KitKat these days. I'd take issue with "fast" and "reliable", buy may need to reset mine.

Weighs alot?? its probably a feather to my xoom.
all bruised from dropping it on to my face when watching in bed..
anyone want to buy a xoom for £80?

:O that's a beast of a tablet for its age.

I've had mine for 2 years. I still think (baring the 2014 update) that this is one of the best tablets out there.

If you're looking to take notes or do a little illustration nothing compares to the s pen. Mines running kit-Kat very well, battery lasts about a week of moderate use. The only complaint I have is the screen resolution looks a bit naff compared to modern tablets.

For this price though, hot!

No flash player but can download one from internet. Use mine daily, good all rounder.

The last update ruined it, the resolution can't handle it.

dunno, you've been watching it in bed! oO

On said tablet atm. brought on asda black Friday. was 160, and is a bargain. runs great and iv still not got around to rooting this thing to make it better. the red sparkly case does make it stand out more than than the boring silver and blacks.

Sol

I'd say it was a bit expensive for the age of the device. However, it's much better than some cheap 10" tablets.

£149.50 instore at Tesco for white version

This is going pretty hot, you should post your deals to help a few folk out and get some heat.

Serious question, what is the point of getting heat? What is the benefit?

If you have an old 7" (or greater) tablet you'd happily give up, might be worth considering the trade up program from Asus to get the Asus Transformer Pad 10" Tablet (TF103CX) for £79.95 after £50 cashback -

No retina. don't buy without retina display.

Just to note, this is the older version the Galaxy note 10.1, the newer version (2014 I think) is meant to fix a few issues this version had

don't get all the neg, best tablet ive ever owned. still going strong and battery lasts 4ever.

If you get heat you are putting deals up that people like, and if you put deals up that people like you are helping the site and making it a good resource for its members. If no one got heat (posted deals) there would be no hotukdeals.

Had a few tabs and bought this for £150 before xmas.yes it's a tad heavier and thicker etc.but performance wise it's better than most.dont forget when this was new it was probably near £500...so the spec is very good....and as others said;the battery lasts forever compared to modern Samsung ones I've used

The S-Pen makes a real difference. Most people wont notice the not-quite-the-latest specs

My AST dx2-486 PC was £1200 back in 1994. Does that make it a good spec?

Is the same model on Amazon for £244.99 including delivery in white.

Don't get hung up on the specifications.

I've used tablets with alleged better specifications than this samsung model and they don't perform as well as this.

don't understand, Is this something to do with someone's eye? Someone I knew once got a detached retina from being clouted around the head. I think it was for trolling or something.

Must be from someone that didn't appreciate the stunning awesomeness of a 640x480 pixel display on a 14inch CRT monitor that way that I did not too long ago. Now the young-uns freak out if there's less than 1920x1080 pixels on a smart-phone no larger than my hand.

Kids today, don't know they're born; fought for my country so they can eat MacDonalds; etc etc

Theoretically this brings the better deals to the top and buries the rubbish. I suspect there's also a degree of bragging rights for some people.

is this better than a linx 10

rebeccamarcusjones

is this better than a linx 10

We'll solve that dilemma right after we resolve the apple vs windows debate later this afternoon. (_;)

In all seriousness, the answer depends on what you want it for. For my needs, the samsung option is better. Your needs may differ. The linx benefits from the office 365 subscription which the samsung doesn't. The samsung has an S-pen, which the linx doesn't. One's android, one's windows. One is obsolete, the other is current.

In my opinion, there are too many variables linked to your question to get anything other than a wildly subjective response. If you define your intent, you will probably get a more useful response.

Erhh stop you getting hyperthmethia, better than shivering maybe...dunno.

When you order from Scan you need to factor in that your warranty will likely not be honoured, so cold from me.

Exactly like your point that if something cost £500 3 years ago must make it a good spec! Price means nothing.

Age is a red-herring if referring to my comment.

I'm referring only to 'specifications' as defined on paper and my point is simply that what may appear to be better (on paper) may not actually be. There are various reasons as to why that may (or may not be) be the case.

The proof is in the pudding.
