Good value, I was looking at this for my wife, but she feels more comfortable with the Tesco free insurance, 100 minutes, unlimited texts and 500MB (and then throttled) internet deal found here Tesco Note here . But heat added!

If that had 100 minutes i would buy that....still good price

Why is the white £180 extra...great price for the blue though

Great phone, I love mine.

As a long time Apple fan I have to say I absolutely LOVE this phone. First Android phone which has successfully made me switch and not regret it.

However it will make every other phone you look at look incredibly small and puny.

Android is totally over rated. The apps it has, or rather doesn't have, is the worse thing.

I sold mine after four months.

absolutely love mine too... all other phones seem like little toys now and although everyone says they are huge, you just don't notice after half an hour and wonder how you ever used regular phones

I work for Orange and have had a LOT of phones and the Note simply blows them all out of the water... SIII is ugly and iPhone is yesterdays technology at tomorrows prices

I love my Note as well - great phone.

Unfortunately it started randomly rebooting on me this morning, which is very annoying. It must have rebooted during the night, then done it at least five more times before breakfast. I've disabled some apps, deleted some more, run AVG, formatted the SD card. Fingers crossed it stabilises now. If anyone else has had a similar problem, I'd be keen to know if/how you sorted it.

The colour says blue, but it is an extremely dark blue and is the normal colour for the phone. 90% of owners have the "blue" version without even noticing it is blue.

Also, the official Ice Cream Sandwhich update is now live, I upgraded mine two days ago, and noticed improved smoothness (not that it wasn't smooth originally), and much faster App load times. It has made a great phone, even greater.

For anyone wanting good wireless/bluetooth headphones that work really well with the Note, these are very good.

Try updating to the official ICS.

OP should add that Ice Cream Sandwhich update is now officially available for the GNote. The update takes 10-15 mins, but is well worth it. It's like the difference between Windows Vista and Windows 7.

Thanks - I updated to Ice Cream Sandwich last week, and it has been running fine on it up until last night.

just a quick tip... I got the official samsung flappy door case (£12 on amazon thanks to hukd) and whilst it looks pretty and protects the screen and camera lens, the door now gets on me nerves and have just ordered a TPU gel case instead so it's easier to handle

put the official ICS on too, don't bother with custom roms as there is just no need

Thanks, had a chance to play with this phone a few weeks ago and iPhone has looked like a toy since. Also have an iPad that I'm afraid will become useless when I get this.

WIll this have ICS pre installed or will I have to update do you think?

Just install a data counter app and keep an eye on your usage. Browsing with T-Mobile doesn't use any of your data allowance, it's streaming and downloading that uses it.

Will do that, cheers.

To all you Note owners, would you recommend buying a case or a screen protector for it?

Edited by: "0906079" 19th Jun 2012

ICS is ridiculously easy to install once you have kies installed

has its own built in data counter too so you can monitor & stop traffic if need be, my data is unlimited and free though - one of the few perks we get

see my previous reply re: case... might get a screen protector but it's gorilla glass so not needed really unless you keep your phone in a bag etc... if it's put in an empty pocket you'll be fine

but I know most folk prefer the extra protection of a potector

I love my Note, it's the best phone I've used including an iPhone 4S.

protection of a protector that is!

with ICS the keyboard can be moved to the left or right of the screen, so you can type easily with just your thumb if you're right or left handed

ICS is unlikely to come pre-installed, but the upgrade process is really easy. Just download and install Samsung Kies onto your PC, connect your new phone, and follow the instructions. Kies automatically checks for updates and gives the option to upgrade.

*For people who want a good screen protector, this is the best I have ever used. It fits the Note perfectly and even I (with big clumsy banana fingers) got it on without any bubbles.

*For those than want a case/protector, I use this. I originally had the flap case, but the flap was a real pain when making calls. This rubber skin makes the phone much more grippy, looks good, protects the back and sides, and is very cheap. It also fits perfectly and does not increase the size by much.

£12 for a pretoector?!

sleepingwonder

£12 for a pretoector?!

£380 for a phone, but you won't spend 3% of that price protecting it? You can buy a new phone for £29 so why spend £380:- because you generally get what you pay for.

There are big difference between cheap 5 for £3 protectors and SGP protectors. Clarity, adhesion, application, fit and durability are all vastly superior. Why spend so much on a phone with a LOVELY screen and then cloud it with pants protector?

Just noticed on my order confirmation that this also has one month free insurance with it. After this month, will this insurance carry on and I have to pay or stop automatically, or cancel it manually? Has anyone bought from this site before?

The insurance is pretty awful as well... Only theft and breakdown covered for £7 a month...

From memory from previous deals on here you have to cancel it yourself.

Got one of these a few weeks back to replace both old phone and tablet.

I have a flip case and a gel case and prefer the gel one. It's a big phone anyway and the flip case just made it a wee bit too big. Still fitted in jeans pocket, but it was chunky! With the gel one, it's fine. I don't bother with a screen protector. It always has a pocket to itself and the gorilla glass is tough stuff. Had my old Galaxy S for 2 years with no protector and the screen was in perfect nick when I sold it on.

Mine came with Kies Air installed so it did an OTA update to ICS the minute I put a SIM in and switched it on.

I considered the Sony bluetooth headphone set but ended up going for the Samsung HS3000 one instead .... which also works a treat with it. Costs about the same as the Sony one. Main reason was the clip on the Sony set is meant to be a bit flimsy, performance wise, I think they're pretty similar.

Good price. I bought mine outright (selling the old phone and tablet covered most of it) and will switch to a giffgaff rolling SIM once the last few months of my current contract are up.

Tried to buy this at the checkout I get:

"Forbidden

You don't have permission to access /checkout/basket2.php on this server."

Think I will give this a miss even if they sort out their web app problems later on. The deal gets heat though. Cheers for posting OP.

Gorilla glass is indeed tough, but my old unprotected Galaxy SII picked up a few scuffs after I accidentally placed it in the same pocket as my keys. The scuffs were only fine, but I still wished that I had used a screen protector at the time.

The funny thing about the GNote is that after 3 months of ownership I still pick it up and play with it, for no real reason other than I want to pick it up and play with it. It is such a lovely tool the thing is hard to put away. I never felt this attachment to my SGS2, my current work provided 4S, or any of my household tablets/iPads. It is the perfect blend of smartphone and tablet.

The only real downsides about the device are the very short battery life, and the power/sleep button location. Because the power button is directly oposite the volume buttons it is far too easy to press the wrong one when gripping to phone on both sides.

it's the phone for sale, not the app market. got any comments on the phone?

I've had my Note now on O2 for about 5 weeks now and love it. Got the "blue" version but its pretty much black (the back) & grey, not blue. I had a Zagg screen protector (around £13) on mine as recommended on loads of forums, but it was rubbish & cost a fortune. Its almost a slightly mottled gel surface not smooth, the stylus of the Note etches into the surface and can leave marks, and the stylus just dug into the surface like running through mud. A bit sticky. I took that off, and no sooner did I do so, the screen got stratched. I have a gel case protecting the back and sides as others on this page have and thought the gorilla glass would stop most scratches. I only ever put it on the bedside table for charging and slide into my jeans for walkabouts, and the scratch is left to right (in portrait) so I've not slide it into my pocket and it got caught on a rivet on the jeans. Besides I slide it in with the screen facing away from any rivets. Typical! I now have a cheap £2 protector on it from a well known auction site and the stylus scratches that with fine scratches. Might look into the one recommended by Orville at around the £12 mark.
Re: IceCreamSandwich (O.S update), I updated the day it came out on the UK - about a couple of weeks ago, and have had a number of crashes - more than Gingerbread. Memory usage is higher and with the Samsung interface, havent noticed too many things worth upgrading for. Face recognition login is ok but gimmicky, few other things like data monitoring is covered by apps I have. Seems slower now too. I also used to get random re-starts but since upgrading to ICS they've gotten less frequent.
Great machine otherwise though, size is spot on and I agree about other phones being soooo small when you compare them, bit bulky in the pocket when sitting down and worried I'll crack it when bending over to ties my shoes in the morning.
I thoroughly recommend you get a dock or adapters to attach your Note via a HDMI cable to your TV. Looks stunning, and games like Asphalt 6 (driving game) are amazing as you tilt the phone like a steering wheel to turn left and right, so can look at the TV screen when you're racing. Like playing on a Playstation. I also have the official Samsung car dock for the sat nav and voice functionality which I recommend, but at £25 is quite expensive.

Completely agree with the accidental pressing of the power and volume buttons - only down side of the design I think though. Possibly the speaker placement and volume being quite low, but the battery can last a day or so if you sort your power management settings out and turn off GPS, bluetooth & Wifi when not in use. Games and video etc do drop the power quite badly so connnect the power or view it on a dock if you can get access to it.

Order just dispatched.

Hope it's as good as you guys are making it out to be. I'll make sure I have a HDMI cable to connect to my tv, is there an app or site I can view movies without paying for them?

Any other tips guys? This was actually for my husband but thinking of giving him my iPhone and using this myself.

Does anybody know if these are locked to T-Mobile please ?

Note or the S3??

I originally wanted to get S3 but my bloody order wouldn't go through from that deal. IMO this looks better anyway, if you look at the new features for S3 other than the quad core it doesn't sound as special as people as making it out to be.

The Note really comes into its own when you put on a ROM like this:

forum.xda-developers.com/sho…802

Then its a proper 'hybrid' between a phone and a tablet.
