If you're willing to take a risk on "good" condition, then they are only £219, but thought this seemed like the winner to me.

Possibly yeah, if that's what they are offering on refurbs
Sounds like about £175 if cashback pays out
Do the note 8 still get updates?

It wasnt on the list for android 10,so i dont expect mine to update, but still a decent phone until 5g will become real deal in my area
I really think its worth adding the extra £100 for note 9
£259 seems a bit high when we were getting the Note 9 for £290-300 a few weeks back but £219 seems like a good bet, you're only going to scratch the thing anyway - as long as the screen isn't ruined or burned I would keep it. Note 9 also has substantially better battery among other features, even though it looks similar.

I mean, if I wanted a Note 8 I think I'd risk the 'good condition' one at £219 as that's a hefty saving and a great price for the Note 8.

how you calculating that ?
The "good" ones might have screen burn depending on the amount used. I got a virtually new Note 8 about 12 months ago and sold it 2 months ago, and it had quite a bit of buring on the OLED. WhatsApp etc keyboard...
