Is it confirmed that this would be unlocked ?

Also, anyone know what versions of Android this supports, as it states 2.1 in the specs.

This sounds very tempting......
It supports Android 2.3 and it is unlocked, mobiles.co.uk = Carphone Warehouse.

Carphone warehouse only sell Unlocked phones.

Thanks

Wow - now that is a nice phone. Or is it a mini-tablet?
Hot phone, hot price.
Good price for a decent phone
Which is better the galaxy or the desire z?
Excellent price. I would have gone for this if I did not already get the SG2.
Is the gps still not working properly on the latest revisions of this model? The software fix issued by Samsung didn't seem to do the trick.
Does anyone know the process for upgrading it to Android 2.3 Gingerbread?

GPS? Never had a problem with it on mine - will even lock on inside buildings.

This deal isn't that hot as you could get an O2 contract with the phone free for £10 a month with the added bonus of mins and texts.

As much as I love HTC Sense UI, I have to say that unless you are desperate for the keyboard, the Galaxy is better.
I do think Samsung are overrated but it is a good phone and android is awesome. I would have the desire z over this but its a great buy, voted hot. Posted with my desire HD
hmm, il stick with my 4th gen iPhone, if IOS 5 is terrible then im moving to Android, but theres a new POWERFUL Android phone every 2 weeks, the HTC Sensation is a beast with a 1.2ghz dual core processor, where Iphone comes out once a year and it never gets old, Yet people take the **** out of Apple for releasing their products too soon because they cant afford to buy the next generation item or they bought it at the wrong time.

Galaxy S is better simply due to the SAMOLED 4" screen, being 5mm thinner and having a slightly better Hummingbird processor and GPU.
However, Desire Z has sense, better build quality and a physical keybaord.
Your choice really but I personally think Galaxy S has that extra edge.
better than a mid range phone

better than a mid range phone

I called it mid range in case I got trolls on my back saying saying dual core phones are top end.

Someone mentioned all CPW are unlocked. Mobiles.co.uk are part of CPW as is e2save. I recently bought an Orange phone from e2save and it was unlocked as I now have a T mobile sim in it, so theirs a good chance and you could always send it back if it isn't under the distance selling act if not.

When I say "unbranded", I meant has the original factory software been updated/replaced with a network specific one? I know it's not a huge deal, but it makes a difference for things like official software updates.

I should have mentioned that the Orange phone was a Galaxy S which is amazing after owning a Orange San Fran which is a good android starter.

I'm not sure what the Orange network software looks like but their is no mention of Orange on my phone what so ever. I have not yet recieved the Gingerbread update yet via kies. Im I likely to get it as it doesn't seem network specific or im I going to have to root my phone. I've been holding off to see what the official gingerbread is like. Also having a T mobile sim in it will that make a difference or will I have to put my Orange sim back in before connecting it to kies. Any advice would be appeciated.
I've also been sent locked phones from e2save. There's no guarantee.

where? where ? tell me .. tell me please...
Bough one on a deal a few weeks ago, and compared to my old Desire this is a cracking device. Never had such a speedy phone after the 2.3 upgrade. This is last year's flagship device, but it still holds out damn well against any of the devices coming out right now.

Heat added.
Awesome phone upgrade to Froyo then gingerbread, they have messed icons slightly on the gingerbread update but it runs smooth as!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Update via kies from froyo if on eclair then its odin im afraid if you want help with it bell me or join superb samsung galaxy s forum MINT!!!!!!!!!

You're missing the point. The reason there are new Android's every week is precisely because developers are not handcuffed, anyone can release an Android phone, anyone can develop for the platform. That pushes the technology, unlike Apple's restrictive methods - no flash for example, LAME.

For those worried about whether this thing comes unlocked or not, don't be. The unlock codes are stored on the phones themselves in the case of the Galaxy S range, so you can just use an app off the market to extract the code
I tried ordering this when it was £300 and it said in stock and then about an hour later i got an e-mail saying we have cancelled your order because we have no stock. Even a day and 2 days later the site still said in stock. Bunch of ****.
Ordered thanks
very tempted. Just got Nokia C6-01 from CPW sale for £100 and starting to regret it...
