Samsung Galaxy S2 handset.

This is a contract that reads like this:

O2 50 24Months 50 minutes, 250 texts (£10.50) with 100MB Internet Bolt on. (£3)

£59.99 upfront then 24 x £10.50 (252.00) Total Cost £312.99

But you could choose to pay the remainder of the contract off immediately and they will (hopefully) discount the VAT on the price of the contract. So this becomes:

£59.99 plus 24 x £8.75 (£210.00) For a total of £269.99

Quidco should track at £50 so potentially £219.99.

The idea being that you'd have a phone that should be in a new condition and be free to put it on GiffGaff sim or whatever you desire.

Even if the Galaxy S3 were to be released as soon as the end of March (unlikely) you'd be free from contract and able to upgrade and it's highly likely you'll be able to still sell the S2 for at least £200.

Hopefully this will be of use to someone or at least of some interest.

I don't know how to get to the page directly on O2 as I used a comparison site.

To see the tarriff change the min text and minutes settings to 'any'.

shouldn't it be 24 x £13.50 instead of a tenner?

I've assumed you can remove the bolt on before you cancel the contract.

i thought it was compulsory to have internet on smartphone. i'm probably wrong.

I'm going by the logic of the thread above. Thanks for the reply.

You got me excited as 250 mins would be perfect for me, but it's only actually 50mins - you might want to edit your post.

Edited, Cheers.

But ignore the contract minutes. I wouldn't suggest using the contract.

This is just a cheap way to get the phone.

I have a refurbished S2 from o2 - it looks brand new, perfect condition. 200 minutes, unlimited texts and 100mb data, which I removed, for £18.50p/m (15.50p/m without the data.) Handset was free and Quidco tracked at £100.00.

Do you use that sim with the phone?

Yes, it's perfect for me. My main point though is the refurbished phones are excellent in my experience

Yea, good point well made!

I was just curious.

This is what O2 say about refurbs:

'It's a used phone that's been restored to its original state, so it's as good as new. You'll receive a phone, battery and charger. You can start using it straight away! View our refurbished phone terms and conditions. Comes with a 3 month warranty.'

Later they state that it could come with additional accessories but they can't guarentee that. No earphones.

Yeah, just the phone, charger and battery. The phone really is perfect, I wouldn't have been able to tell it was 'used.'

I cant see an option to choose the handset colour so i presume you can only get it in black ?

Can you cancel the data bolt on at a later stage of the contract ?

I think you can cancel the bolt on immediately.

Bo0td has removed it.

o2 will NOT discount the VAT. early this month i terminated a contract....

There isnt an option to remove the data bolt. How did he manage it ?

I'll quote the galaxy note thread

Potential risks:
...
(4) O2 won't give you the 20% off (VAT) for terminating. IMO, this is the the biggest risk. Opinion, O2 guidance and people's experiences are very mixed...

Perhaps you should have argued your case better?

Read the OP in the galaxy note thread I linked to. You may have to give them a call. You remove it after you've purchased but before you've used the sim card.

I dont really need another phone but i am getting fed up with my iPhone 4 so i might just go for this deal.

I used the 'Manage my Bolt Ons' option in 'MyO2' to switch from 'The Basics Data' @£3.00p/m to 'O2 Web Daily' which is free. Then disabled mobile data on the handset to prevent unwanted charges.

I am quoting what went in my case. I am not a stupid to accept what they throw at me on the first go. I did argue....but O2 WOULDNOT BUDGE.

you might quote a thread or anything what stands out to me is what happened to me

I'd like to add the thread I quoted said people's experiences were mixed so I don't know why you're having a caps spaz out.

Ulysses3100

you might call me stupid.....but the heat of this deal reflects who actually is...
i am really getting sick of this you could do that you could do this sort of deals.....
1. If O2 does not automatically offer the VAT off.....even after arguing with them for 20 mins, i take it as only a minority (may be less than 10%) of people could actually get their VAT knocked off....my case is an example that majority wont get it. if majority is not able to get it, how could you put in description that "hopefully" o2 will reduce....even in the remotest "possibility" it is highly unlikely to get o2 to knock off vat.

the reason why i used capslock was to answer you comment that "should have argued case better"?

I wanted to tell on here that arguments not always work out in your favour.
