Samsung Galaxy S2 on 02 TOTAL Price: £354.99 24month/50mins/250txt

This is how it works:

1. Goto Quidco and order. You get £50 off quidco.com/mob…o2/

2. Get Samsung Galaxy S2 on O2 over 24months for £16.50 & pay £149.99

shop.o2.co.uk/mob…_II

3. Select 100mb data plan, which will reduce the monthly cost to £13.50

4. Once the phone is bought, you can remove the £3 Data Bolt-On. This means Monthly Cost = £10.50 per month

So:

£13.50 1x Month = £13.50
£10.50 23x Months = £241.50
£149.99 phone cost = £149.99
-£50 Quidco Discount = - £50

TOTAL COST £ 354.99

To have enough minutes you can buy Tesco Mobile sim only deal (works perfect on 02 locked phone) for £10 a month 500mins/5000Texts/500mb Data. 30day rolling contract

phone-shop.tesco.com/tes…sel

So Samsung Galaxy S2 (O2 £354.99) with (tesco sim £240)500mins/500txt/500data
2 YR. TOTAL COST £594.99
1 YR. TOTAL COST £298

or as in the deal above £354.99

Why would a tesco sim work in a locked o2 phone?

jb66

Why would a tesco sim work in a locked o2 phone?

because they use o2's signal

complicated but intriguing

In my experiance O2 contract phones are normally branded but UNLOCKED.

add one of phone cost £149.99 + 354.99 =£504.98 total cost.

Cashback removed from headline price, although remains elsewhere for info. Thanks.

The problem is that 50mins and 100MB Data is not enough. O2s tarriffs are a joke compared to other providers. By the time you've paid to run a sim only deal with a proper allowance you're going to have paid a whole lot more than £405 so for me this is cold.

This has been posted a thousand times. Well known already. And people still can't comprehend the enormity of getting just the phone. This thread is too painful.

You don't get it do you? This is cheaper than buying the phone sim free, with the benefit of paying it in interest free instalments.

Tempted again with this deal, but will wait till a similar deal for the HTC sensation appears.

Actually I do get it, but people like you fail to add in the cost of RUNNING THE PHONE. I understand it's cheaper than buying the phone on PAYG but how much extra are you paying on top to run it?
Right now this is the best deal even if it is on Three - affordablemobiles.co.uk/con…300
Free Phone, 500 Mins, Unlimited Texts, 1GB Data, £26 pm Total £624 - £60 QUIDCO.

Did you ever think that people may already be tied into a contract, but still want the latest smartphone? Get it now?

In that case negotiate with the current provider or wait until contract end. Having two contracts on the go just to satisfy your desperation in having the latest piece of technology is just dumb and makes no financial sense to somebody supposedly out to save money on hotukdeals but that's just my opinion.

One thing folks, someone mentioned that O2's phones are "branded" by that do you mean branding on the actual phone itself as in the O2 logo?

Your opinion perhaps, but you voted cold on a deal that is still very good. You need to look at the bigger picture and understand this is the cheapest way to get this handset.

I pay Vodafone £15 a month for a 12 month sim only deal, which I took out via Quidco, so actually only pay about £5 a month. For me to get this phone for less than £400 is a great deal and I am sure there are plenty people on the same boat as me.

good deal imo

This is better than I have found... Heat added

The reason I posted this was as 'thegazman' has correctly stated, to get the SGS2 at the cheapest price, but pay in installments over a period of time.

My current sim is tesco, with 500min and unlimited rest. So to keep that I needed a new phone, and SGS2 are at least £479 sim-free.

This way I get the phone way cheaper than anything sim-free (esp. with the extra quidco)

You cannot buy SGS2 cheaper than £355 or even £405, even second hand..

Ideally, you could keep on paying £10.50 a month until you receive your £50 quidco... then one could buy-out the remaining months of the contract without having to pay VAT (needs clarification if this is true).

So if quidco does indeed pay you the £50 after 3 months, then the total cost of the contract would be as follows:

1st month: £13.50
2nd month: £10.50
3rd month: £10.50
Quidco Cashback: -£50
One-Off Phone Cost: £149.99
21 months buy-out of contract without paying VAT: (£10.50*21)/1.2 = £183.75 @ 20% VAT

Potential total cost of contract: £318.24

You could save £36.75 rather than keeping hold of the contract for the full 24 months (as what OP is suggesting).

As the other threads have found out taking away the data allowance altogether may not be an option!
so the lowest monthly amount would be £13.50.
Many other posters have stated that o2 will not remove the data allowance entirely.

Anyone know how much is this to unlock?

Original Poster

NOT True

I did this and got £50 quidco on the next day.

Also removed the £3 bolt-on the same day via my O2 account . Got confirmation text that in July my package will be £10.50.

I can send screenshots as proof.

It works.

Original Poster

i rooted the phone and unlocked it for free via XDA developers..he he

But O2 confirmed they will unlock for free within contract, if you take it to O2 shop

Test and works on vodafone.. ;-)

It is true that you can cancel the data bolt on. But doing so might affect your cashback. It might track but it doesn't mean you will definitely get it. There is a chance that it will confirmed as £0 because you have cancelled the data bolt on. To be on the safe side, just wait until you get the cashback before you cancel the data bolt on. It is only £3-£6 extra to pay compared to losing £50 cashback

^not anymore, upfront cost is now £249.99 on the day I decide to go for it ****!

I noticed the 249.99 price too :-(

Can get this via E2save for free on a 24month contract. £25 ppm, gets you 500 mins, 1500texts, and 1gb of data on the TalkMobile/Vodafone network. Plus you can run it through quidco and get nearly £50 cashback too. Not a bad deal for the data and free phone.
secure-mobiles.com/che…843

O2 is asking for 249.99 as upfront cost. now

Sadly this deal has changed now as O2 are now asking for a £249.99 one off charge for the phone, which means total price for this deal is now £ 454.99 still cheaper then where you would get it else where but not much of a savings.
