Samsung galaxy s2 - Replacement Increased capacity Battery by Anker 1900mAh - no need for bigger battery cover £8.99 @ Amazon

Will probably get shot down in flames but it has got good reviews both on amazon and XDA so its worth a shot if you want a spare battery which lasts longer than the official one (albeit only for a few extra hours). Considering the official ones are over 20 quid (excluding fake ebay knock offs from hong kong - of which i have 2! Which are ok but not great) I think its a pretty good deal for the extra juice without having to get a specially designed 'fat' battery case for it as well - there is also an option for 2 of the batteries and an external charger which can charge your phone and a spare battery at the same time for 15.99. This was posted a while ago but was expired straightaway but these now seem to be in stock.

I know its taken a while but heres the link for the option of 2 batteries and the charger for 15.99 (sorry can't put a pound sign in as my asus transformer doesn't have one since installing swiftkey!!!)

Shot down in flames? Top product good price! Thanks for posting, I keep forgetting to order this.
is it possible to get one cheaper than this?
Very handy and some good reviews. You could spend less but you wouldn`t get as goos.

The one that comes with the S2 is pretty good but it depends what you have going on your phone and how often it syncs your data etc.......I have mine on maximum brightness at all times and am constantly connected to 3G or wifi and sync almost everything (which is a lot) as quickly as it can and my phone can't quite make it through a whole day (on a light use day it just about does)- but I know it could if i turned a lot of stuff off (but then i don't see the point in having a smartphone) as i'm a very heavy user, - plus as i carry a spare battery in my wallet when i'm not near a power point for a while it doesn't matter as one of these suckers and the original will last you ages - The originals capacity is 1600mAh so you get a little extra with this so its gotta be a bonus.
p.s - If you were asking about the batteries as you are thinking of getting an S2 i totally recommend it - The phone does everything (just wish it had a notification led like the desire!)

I've had a look and even ebay seems more expensive than the amazon price on most of the listings plus they are all from the states so will take a while to arrive - i guess the choice is yours
This is a good deal too:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Anker-1900mAh-Batteries-GT-I9100-Universal/dp/B0058SJ5Q4/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1320879588&sr=1-2

Same battery but you get two and a charger that can charge the phone and a battery at the same time - £15.99. The charger is much better than the picture shows - much smaller.

I can't comment on the battery, though the reviews are stonking - just charging my first one today.

Yeah thats the other option i was referring to in the original post - I should have added the link really - whoops - thanks for doing my job for me!!!!!!
Could you let us know what you think of the battery after you've charged it a couple of times (it apparently gets better after a few cycles) Its probably too late for me as i've ordered mine anyway but may convince a few others to take the plunge. Can you confirm the original battery cover still fits on ok as has been suggested in the reviews as thats the main reason i opted for this battery as opposed to some of the other high capacity ones that come with a bigger battery cover and make the phone bulky and like it has a huge bulbous ass!!!!!!!. Cheers
great deal, just got S2 for the wife and I so these will be ideal.

Thanks OP .... heat from me

Do they actually work I mean do they give the extra battery life without damaging the phone? could they damage your phone any experts?

Thanks for the reply but I tried that and unfortunately found that it drained my battery too quick as it kept my phone almost constantly awake due to all the emails and notifications coming through all the time - shame really but i have noticed an improvement since uninstalling it (perhaps with these extra batteries i'll be able to afford the extra drain again! hahaha) I mean to give BLN (Back light notifier) a go but you need a custom rom that has an applicable kernel for it to work - i've reverted back to stock rom so can't use it at the mo - maybe one day i'll get round to testing it out
Great thx heat added

The reviews claim they give an extra couple of hours over the original batteries and actually seem to suggest that they are less prone to heating up than the originals which in turn would mean that they are actually less harmful to your phone if that were to happen. From the reviews it all seems to be pretty positive
It says free postage but when paying it charges £2.75 does anyone know why?
i have been using the ankers now for the last month and on the whole i would say you get around 15% longer life i bought the dual pack and charger for £12.99 from amazon and i sold the sammy original on ebay for £20 dont hesitate its a fantastic battery for a fantastic phone which i will be sorry to see go when the samsung galaxy nexus lands later this month

Crumbs I didn't read you had mentioned the two'fer £15 in your original post - I think I was too keen to reply as I'd just plugged mine into charge about 5 minutes before I saw your post.

Just tried one of the batteries for fit and they aren't quite as snug as the original but I'm being super..nay hyper picky when I say that - they won't be rattling around or anything mad like that. I'm happy so far(not having tested the battery in any way

I contacted amazon about this and they adjusted it. Just wait until morning and engage them in an online 'chat' I ordered mine whilst in teh 'chat' session and it was amended instantly.
i was just going to say they are just slightly smaller than stock in my dock they have to be wedged slightly to charge

Cheers seems a too good offer to pass by!
Ordered twin pack with charger, cheers!
Off topic, I've just got this phone. Going from a san fran. Have worked out how to root but can't work out what custom rom to put on and whrre to locate. Any advice?

Its obviously a much better phone than san fran but unless I'm missing something, pound for pound san fran miles better.

Have a look on XDA forum under the S2 section.

i did but it stays at £2.75 making it £18.74 total price. Its still probably worth that price but id rather pay £15.99.
People who are having problems with battery life should consider changing their firmware. Some firmwares are better than others.

It's only £9!
Good price for a decent looking replacement, think i'll grab one of these or maybe the 2 pack with charger...Cheers...
good deal but I would rather get a external battery charger as the clip on back cover of the S2 probably won't last long if you keep on removing it regularly.
@wolfylee how did I engage the chat thing, as it just charged me postage despite selecting free postage.
Good Deal..Love my Samsung S2..

Should point out I have had an Iphone for the past year year.. Took the plunge and got a S2 ... Sooo much better.... Iphone = nice as an "appliance".. but smartphones have evolved since then... without a radical change in IOS then its a slippery slope for apple I think...

You're missing the point that the relationship between price and quality in terms of most electronics isn't a linear one.
Thanks. I ordered the twin pack with usb charger. Likewise I got charged £2.75 postage so I've emailed them about being charged for free delivery.
same was charged 2.75 extra. mailed them about being charged for free delivery

i have both iphone 4s and samsung s2, and i agree with you, the samsung is the better of the pair, the samsung as a good battery life anyway, i use my samsung s2 as my best phone, and my iphone 4s is my everyday phone, but i must say " i love the samsung s2 it's perfect, and i downloaded the Jeannie voice app which is as good as the Siri app on my iphone 4s, in matter of fact the Siri on my iphone plays- up, and the battery life on my iphone is crap it wont last me the day gutted, i wish i could change the battery on my iphone, anyway this deal is HOT.
ordered, thanks op, have some heat.
