Dialaphone seems to lower the price now, so that hot deal two weeks ago is back on again. I just copy and paste below:

Cheapest way yet to get the Galaxy S2 handset sim free .

Recently dropped to £9.99 for the handset at dialaphone on the O2 100 mins contract.

Cancel the 500mb internet bolt on (£6/month).
Cancel the gadget helpline.
Cancel the phone insurance.
Downgrade the tariff after the minimum time of 9 months to the next lowest (make a note in the diary!)

Contract cost:
£9.99 (initial cost)
£21.5 * 1 (first month)
£15.5 * 11 (next 11)
£10.5 * 12 (last 12)
--------------------
£327.99

- 50 (Quidco/TCB matched)
--------------------
= potentially £277.99 for the handset!

Handily spread over 24 easy payments. Don't think of this as a 24month contract. Just consider the overall handset cost.

Handset should come UNLOCKED and UNBRANDED.

great find

Been told by Quidco that if you alter the contract cashback most likely won't be paid.

Not sure if this is the same for TCB.

Maybe it might be wise to wait till Cashback is paid before removing the internet bolt on? That will mean paying for the internet for another couple of months, but shouldn't risk losing the cashback.

Even without the cashback though, £312 is a very good price.

I talked to Dialaphone about this as well. They said that it was perfectly fine with them, they don't have a problem with you downgrading the contract. The only thing that they did say was, there is no guarantee that you will be able to downgrade the tariff after the 12 months, O2 can withdraw the offer whenever. Not sure if there is any truth in that.

I read somewhere on o2's t&c that u can only downgrade after u done half of your contract

potnoodle

I read somewhere on o2's t&c that u can only downgrade after u done half … I read somewhere on o2's t&c that u can only downgrade after u done half of your contract

That is true, however the bolt-on is an extra not a part of the price plan.

Did this the first time the deal was on direct from o2, removed the bolt on in the first week and quidco tracked, validated and then paid, o2 sim has never been in the handset

Too risky for my liking as there are too many factors involved; plus you are tied into a contract. Cold from me, sorry.

Quite a bit involved ot get the phone down to this price. Good deal if you are happy to do all the above and take the potential risks. Not voted cold or hot as I suppose some will be happy to do all the above to get the phone at this price.

To much hassle to get this deal plus it's only the S2

If it was for the iphone 4 or 4S it might be worth while.

Voted cold due to the poor phone on offer and the hassle of getting this

Well you can get them new unwanted contract upgrades from reputable sellers on eBay with full manufacturers warranty for 320 - 340 on eBay so whats the point ? Great phone but too much hassle for too little gain IMO. Not voted.

Lol Classic.

If it was for the iphone 4s I'd be buying them all day long to sell to the sheep on ebay! X)

Why would anyone buy an iphone when you can grab one of these babies for 3 tons?

Edit: just realised the hassle involved. Forget it!

Because it a £60-£80 saving!oO

Yea I mean the 4s is well worth double the money.......not

It's only such a big saving with cash back which is not certain even without the fical merchant and messing with the contract.

the s2 is possibly the best phone of 2011, and considering its nice and easy to pay for monthly its a pretty good deal. Probably why its already pretty hot

Good deal. Hot from me.

However, if any of you are Virgin media customers, it might be worth your while calling to see what you can get with them. I managed to get an S2 from them on a 12month contract for £14.99 per month. Free handset, yes. Total cost will be £179.88 all in on that one .. however, it is a crappy bundle, only 100min, 100txt and 500mb (includes the 3000 virgin to virgin min) ... I don't use text or make phone calls that much so I can live with that. (That deal was on a rolling £6odd a month sim I have with them)
I also managed to get another one, but on 24month contract, free handset, same minutes etc but for £15.00 a month (£15.33 if I'd not added the 3000 virgin to virgin minutes - huh?) .. bit less of a better deal yes. (That one was on my wifes contract which was due for an upgrade anyhow.)

Point is, if you're a customer it might be worth a call to them. (And no, I don't have the top of the range packages with them hehe.. I've got like the base freeview stuff pretty much with call packages is all)

better way. By a motorola atrix from orange. Wait a month or two. (it should break about 5 times).
then ask for a different phone as a replacement.(they have a 3 strike policy for (this.)

(just kidding btw).

mmm. might give that a try. I already have the s2 and im sure it would be good for my dad as well at that price.

Already posted less than an month ago. should have just got the previous deal unexpired. Now we will have the same questions over again.

Hot deal, great phone

Purchased on Friday at previous price though Can't wait to get my hands on it - currently trapped in the Post Office...

Wow. Just wondering how long you've been with them? I only have broadband, any idea if it is applicable to me?

I can understand why the S2 might appeal to some people, times are hard and money is tight so they opt for an inferior, cheaper product.

I for one would personally spend a little more and go for a quality product, one which is far more desirable than the s2 could ever hope to be.

That product is the iphone.

I prefer iphones more compactness 3.5ish inch screen, the huge bulkyness of s2 puts me off - obviously the price of iphone doesn't go well with me though.

Lets see how much the Galaxy S2 will have depreciated in a years time compared to the iPhone 4S.

Oh yeh of course, the answer is massively.

That's because the iPhone won't have deprecated either, right? /s

I'm using what's going to be a one year old Android device and still does what all the other phones do. Deprecated? Hardly. Only about as my usage goes. We could also turn it round another way, in which case things start getting worse for the glass-metal buddies....

Good point mantisinc.

The residuals of the iphone are so much better than any other phone.

I've been with them around 8 years. But on the deal I scored at 12 months, the guy said it's because we'd gone over quite a bit the one month that pushed the loyalty points
up on that one. Where we'd normally pay just over £6, the kid had gone and made some real long calls and it pushed the bill up to £30. I'm not so peeved at her any more

And I love my S2 brilliant piece of hardware. (And also my SGS still which is now running custom ICS ROM .. it's looovley!)
I myself much prefer using Android over iOS.. but that's my personal preference. Each to their own. Some like the simplicity of iOS and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. If it does the job and everything they need then who's to argue

Sorry it's half the price for exactly the same performance and a much bigger screen. Yes the sg2 is slightly longer and wider than the 4s but it's much thinner and lighter so it's actually more comfortable and less obtrusive to carry round in your pocket.

It's debatable if functionality and performance wise the 4s is that much better. It might look better, this really is not up for debate but Worth twice the money I really don't think so personally. We have 2x iPads and an iPhone In our house btw....

It's a fair point about depreciation iPhones do hold their value very well.

Edited by: "alera" 29th Nov 2011

"EPICFAIL" Suppose you could compare the iPhone to the galaxy s, but not the gs2. IPhones hardware is rubbish.

this old all ready posted by me, sorry,

thanks for this op

ok price for a plastic phone. price just keeps falling, a wee bit like the team they are sponsering.

As value goes, your Android device has probably depreciated by about 70%. An iPhone would have depreciated by tops of 25-30% in that time period, if that.

Price fall and competion is good for all of us. Without it, Apple would sell us less for more money. Ipad2 would not have been release so fast. An extra 16 gb at £100.00. Micro sd at £20 for 32gb. Keeping value is not an issue if you are not selling.

Wouldn't mind paying £312 for the phone straight out but too complex when a contract and monthly fee is involved.
