Exynos is awful. Day to day you wouldn't notice however...

it overheats and throttles like mad with any period of heavy use.

Because it's clocked higher to achieve similar performance to the Snapdragon, the battery life is considerably worse

The camera processing has also been shown to be worse.

It's not acceptable to charge the same for a worse version of a product

The day Samsung uses Snapdragon in the UK is the day I switch to one

Great price, to all those worried about this website, I've ordered s10 and s10e from them. Both were European versions, (Austrian) but in sealed original packaging with all accessories
Super Sexy Heat... and 3.2% cashback (£20.96) from Quidco.

Exynos matey
I'm stalking these threads waiting for a Snapdragon variant to appear. My note 10+ benchmarks higher than the exynos s20 unfortunately so it wouldn't be worth it to me. It's still a great deal, voted hot.

Not sure actually, @MrSwitch might know? I'm currently using a Snapdragon note 10+ on O2 and it's perfect. I don't have 5g though so can't comment on that side of things

Snapdragon work fine here.
MrSwitch26/03/2020 19:40

I believe so.

Now I'm on the waiting list to find (well MrSwitch to find 😬) a S10+ or S20+ on snapdragon.

Not necessarily in day to day performance but the camera is also worse, gaming is worse, and battery life is around 2 hours less than the Snapdragon. If the option is there I would always import. There's a huge petition to get Samsung to bin off the exynos now, I don't think we'll see them in the S21 onwards personally.
nokiafusion26/03/2020 19:50

It's not all about synthetic benchmarks, there's a noticeable difference in battery life and gaming performance.

After my Exynos experience with S10e and plenty of new evidence with S20 range, I would only consider a Snapdragon equipped Samsung flagship.

Don't feel like paying top dollar for inferior product and what proved to be subpar customer service.

BE VERY CAREFUL WITH WOWCAMERA, SEE MY FEEDBACK ON THEIR WEBSITE, DEVICES ARE NOT NEW. I GOT Samsung S10e CAME IN NOT NEW AND THEY SAYS THIS IS HOW IT SHOULD BE. RETURNS ONLY TO LUXEMBOURG. NEVER AGAIN!
You can get the Samsung S20 4G for this price from the Samsung EPP site or for students through Unidays
You keep the warranty too whereas this is no Samsung UK warranty (despite OP) - that's why it's a hard pass from me
I bought mine new for just 500 after ebay coupon this week. Now all I have to do is sell my S10

EDIT Mar27: ah I just saw that it's exynos not snapdragon - got confused by all the comments
I withdraw my statement. This probably does have warranty

This has full Samsung EU warranty, and I did say in my first part of the description this is for people who don't have access to perks like the one you mentioned.

Benchmarks
The Note 10+ benchmarks badly but still beat everything bar the ROG2.
Some benchmarks say the OP7T is faster than the ROG2, yet the ROG handed a 10 second beating to it on Gary explains using the same SOC.
Benchmarks ( Antutu ) only tells you which platform are optimised for that test.
Run a Geek bench and see how far the SD855 is behind the 990.
So which is the better buy all in all? Note 10, S10 Plus or S20?

I get what you mean, but having had both, it is genuinely slower side by side in most games which reflects the benchmarks. My main gripe is the camera quality, it's really soft compared to the SD865. Same effect when comparing SD855 to the 980 on the note 10 plus. Battery is notably worse too. Exynos has had it's time now and needs to be retired imo.

Which Exynos are you talking about? 2015,2016 the Exynos was better.
2017 they were about to the same after the US complained about the SD820 being inferior, so Samsung tried to match up.
And since Samsung took over fabrication on the SD820 the following Exynos have been inferior.

A.Qualcomm announce they were moving from Samnung.
B.Samsung announce partnership with AMD. C.Qualcomm give some production back to Samsung
D.Partnership with AMD hasn't been mentioned since.
E.Anandtech finds self crippling firmware on the Exynos SOC.
F. Now Qualcomm have had time to study multicore fabrication they want to move from Samsung.
Are you getting my drift here.

Developers commissions

1. A Bionic Benchmark position no.1
2. Qualcomm Benchmark position No.2
3. Others Benchmark position wherever.

The actual difference between the leading SOC's is very small, the app optimisation per platform is massive.
Samsung want to hold onto fabrication because that's where the profits are, semi conductors. But will them all but out the door with Qualcomm things will change. 5G means no need for Cdma ( no need for a SD in the US) in the future.

I think it’s terrible that hukd encourages people to buy grey imports from non UK based companies yet deletes posts for deals available from legit UK based companies.

Again you have no means of knowing what the actual potential of the SOC is if the app opmisations is not the same.
Comparing a camera 6 months down the road camera to a brand new camera setup is not reflective of SOC performance it's reflective of development.
Checkout some Pixel 2 v pixel 3 comparisons when the 3 first came out and you will get my drift.
I take it you didn't look at the Geek bench scores then, as you were talking about benchmarks

I've just gone from the s10+ to s20+ 5G. Both unlocked exynos UK models. The s20+ gets 2 hours less screen on time than my one year old s10+ and that's on 60hz. I would honestly skip this generation unless you can get the snapdragon models
kelvinwilkins26/03/2020 22:12

Depends, SD card slot and headphone jack = S10+, Sd card only = S20 & if you want SD card then will have to get Note 10+.

If the headphone jack doesn't concern you, I'd go for the S20+ if budget allows it. Newer camera setup and will get at least 2 year software updates.
Nice price but wouldn't touch exynos with a barge pole. Runs typically 20% slower than Snapdragon, there are now numerous videos online about this and, a petition.

Also the cameras (manufactured by Sony) in the Snapdragon are superior to the Exynos (manufactured by Samsung) models.

If you buy Exynos, you're being ripped off.

Sorry but I think you might be wrong about that. Samsung UK/EU only service models that are sold in the UK/EU (all of which have the inferior Exynos 990). One look at the IMEI or the model number printed on the phone and they'll tell you what they told me when I tried to get my S6 Edge+ US model serviced: send it to the country you bought it in, and they'll post it back to an address in that country only. Luckily I had a friend in California who they posted it to, and then she posted it to me.

You can find yourself really quickly "up the creek without a paddle" thinking you have the warranty on these when you don't. It doesn't matter if it was posted to you from within the EU. All that matters is the region-dependent model number.

they do come with a very decent pair of USB C headphones, and I'll be buying a USB C to 3.5mm jack for my old headphones and just keep it attached to my old headphones. Sure I'd have liked to keep the headphone jack forever, but it's not really that necessary when I think of it, and not really 'dongle hell' (a la Apple) if you're only ever plugging in to your car aux, or headphones

I'd say buy an S20 4G for a good price, skip the 5G until it's actually rolled out everywhere and not spotty as a teenaged beard.

I upgrade phones every 1-2 years and pay about a 100 quid difference per year.

Don't touch this with a bargepole. 5.5 hrs max screen on time. Utterly pointless 120hz mode as it kills the battery. Even without it on the battery drains so fast when you use any apps.

Avoid !!!!!
