About this deal

This deal is expired. Here are some options that might interest you:

**Update 2: Purchase of this device also gives you a 12 month free subscription to Disney+**

**Update: check that your trade in device is in the system and will be accepted on o2recycle.co.uk before starting this process - if your device isn't listed, then you won't be eligible for the extra £150 trade in value**

My previous deal post on this wasn't probably described as accurately as it could have been so hopefully this makes up for it - here are the steps on how to get yourself a Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra 128gb (white; burgundy; green; or black) sim-free for what works out at £555.40 after £300 cashback from Samsung, and £150 guaranteed trade in when you trade in any phone via O2 recycle which has a usual trade in value of more than £0:

(note: there are probably better deals out there is you want to get the phone with a contract - cheapest I could see was 24 months with ID mobile £79 upfront and £38.99 per month for 24 months 25gb data (total £714.76) but this O2 deal might work for those with sim only plans who don't want to change provider or current sim deal (like me!)

1. Open the link, choose your colour phone, and then scroll down to and click on 'see all our pre-built plans'

2. On the next page, scroll down to and click on the 'See our plans' drop down next to where it says Pay for your device in full

3. Choose any of the airtime plans (the phone cost should be showing at £1,005.40 - i went for the lowest 2gb plan @ £10 per month - click straight on 'Choose this plan'; don't click on where it says Trade in your old device and save on your monthly bill (you'll trade in on the O2 recycle site after your order has been placed to get the £150 as a lump sum).

4. Don't worry about choosing any extras as these are all linked to your plan, which you will be cancelling after the order has gone through so you're not tied into a contract. Go through all the extras; accessories etc bits and then Go to basket

5. Checkout and place your order, choosing either delivery or pick up from store and wait until you have your device before the next steps

6. To redeem your Extra £150 O2 Recycle offer, wait until you’ve received your new device then trade in your old one at o2recycle.co.uk using your O2 order number (MS-xxxxxxxxx) as a voucher code on the page where it confirms all of your phone details, and states how much your phone is worth. When you get the option about how to get the money for your trade in, don't choose choose device plan credit to use your trade-in value to lower your monthly plan; instead, choose the option to have the lump sum transferred to your bank account

7. Visit samsung.com/uk/cashback-offer/ and follow the instructions to claim your £300 cashback (paid within 30 days of validation of your purchase

8. Call O2 and tell them you wish to cancel your airtime plan; as you're on a refresh plan, these are only monthly rolling plans - if you have passed the 14 day cooling off period by the time you complete the above and call O2 to cancel, then you will need to pay the first months device plan cost (this will depend on which plan you chose when ordering the phone). if you would prefer to wait until you have received both the cashback amount and trade in amount before cancelling the contract then obviously you'll end up paying for 1 or 2 monthly plan costs

9. Once the device plan has been cancelled, the phone is yours as you've already paid upfront. Enjoy!

There are a couple of conditions to this deals - £300 cashback from Samsung is only valid where the device has been purchased (assume confirmation of your order having being received and accepted) by 20th December 2022, and the cashback must be claimed direct with Samsung within 60 days of purchase; the £150 guaranteed extra for your trade in only applies to devices purchased (as above) by 28th December 2022, you then have until 3rd January 2023 to complete your order process to trade in your old device, and must then complete the trade by returning your device to O2 Recycle so it is received by 17th January 2023.

Also, as you are applying for a contract initially then there will be a search ade against your credit record so please consider this if going ahead with this deal.

Thanks to eldy123 for the heads up on my previous deal!

haha £66 trade on P30 pro take a hike O2 lol (edited)

… and then add £150 trade in bonus on top of that, so in total your trade in value is £216. So with the £300 cashback, the £216 ‘recycling bonus’, you get the device for 489 (1005.40-300-216)
  3. Avatar
Over a grand and all you get is 128GB storage lmao

Ask yourself, do you really need to upgrade? Two of my mates this week got this phone, £60pm almost to click through Instagram reels, which their previous still almost top spec phone could also do.

£90 more for the 256 variant.

Probably worth it to avoid the hassle of clearing space continuously

I think the £570 deal was much better as there was no need to trade phone which wouldnt be an issue if they accepted all.

🔥 added as price is good and will benefit many (edited)

Posted the other day, I looked into this but the £150 trade in comes off contract price and not a payment to you

If you do it as per the description through o2 recycle (separately after you've placed the order) , you can get it as a lump sum as opposed to coming off the monthly airtime plan

Hi, I got my S22 Ultra from the store today. So main problem I got now is on the O2 Recyle website where you claim the £150 it is not accepting the model of phone I want to trade in. I put this model on the checkout pages on the O2 website where it appeared to be accepted, but the O2 Recyling website does not acknowledge that model, so seems to be a mismatch of what can be traded in despite O2 saying it will guarantee any phone for £150 cashback
    Avatar
Any phone with the value of 1p, if it’s not in the recycle system, sadly won’t be accepted
  9. Avatar
I have read somewhere that O2 have stopped doing that and if you cancel the device it would need to be returned. Is that not the case?
  10. Avatar
    2Gb plan is £37, not £10
    Avatar
I've not looked but I'm assuming the data/calls portion of the payment is £10 The remaining £27 is for the device. As I said I've not looked but sounds typical
  11. Avatar
you have to pay extra for the samsung 45w charger to use the super charging 2.0

No micro sd card expansion so think about that when buying 128GB version

Do you also get 12 months disney+.or is that a sumsung exlusive offer?

If you order this phone, you'll get 12 months Disney + through Samsung (o2 were only offering 1 month when I got the deal)

grow up, still playing top trumps ?, for the usual customer this makes no difference

Worst battery 🔋 life . I hate Samsung phones with Exynos CPU overclocked inside. Yes it can work fast for 1 or 2 hours , but battery 🔋 dies very soon. Samsung used to make fun of Apple 🍎 users in Adverts glued to the wall chargers but that is what is going to happen to you if you buy this . Unless you carry a battery 🔋 pack at all times, phone will die at short notice. Seems like battery 🔋 failure. But it is Samsung overclocked overheating Exynos inside which kills the 🔋 battery. Just thought I’d mention it in case it helps anyone else. I saw a comment on here about someone getting a better deal through the live chat so gave that a go whilst mentioning the deal and managed to get the 512GB for £27.38 over 36 months with no upfront fee

So I deleted my earlier comments as the o2 guy wanted the link to here. Anyway after the best part of 2 hours on chat I got the deal, so thank you very much for the heads up! I will say this - He didn't realise but he had processed a 128gb model and ended up having to waive £200 on the initial cost for it to add up with a 512gb model. I don't think he would have done if he had realised the differences earlier and I hadn't been on the chat for the best part of 2 hours. (edited)

Can't find the conditions of the trade in, can it be anything smartphone wise and does it matter if it's broken?

They don't appear to have been updated since October though.

Use o2 recycle.co.uk to try out your trade in and after entering all details (condition etc), if the recycle is valued at £0.01p or over then it should apply

I watched a video from a very smart tech guy called Gakerwan or something like that and he was saying these Samsung phones CPUs aren’t much different to the CPUs in 2018 phones. The benchmarks are awesome but real world gaming etc only uses a fraction of that and due to poor efficiency, it makes these CPUs meh.

Seems like the Dimensity(sp?) or wait until 4nm CPU is the way to go forward if you game. If not, the IP13 Pro Max is still and absolutely incredible device for gaming+battery life.
  29. Avatar
Cheapest phone to buy for trade in that's on the O2 recycle list?

Flagship Samsung device although 128GB internal storage and Exynos SoC; expect more deals for this with S23U out soon with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC (edited)

Great deal, writing from the same phone got on contract with o2/100gb for total 600 over 2 years last week.

Phone is good. Upgraded from a damaged s10 5g that started refusing to get signal after the back smashed.

This is a good deal from the point of view of avoiding the risk of large RPI increases in the monthly payments. On the downside the £150 trade in list is restricted and it's only 128GB storage and 8GB RAM. The 256GB/12GB model looks like a much better option but there are no bargain options for this at the moment. I'm hoping Samsung has one of its regular deals in the new year where they allow more promos to stack than they realised!
