All CPW phones are unlocked, irrespective of network. so far no one has mentioned they got a CPW phone which was locked.

if you have already got a payg sim, you can avoid £10 top-up, via upgrade method -> carphonewarehouse.com/pho…ned

Pretty crap phone really.

It's just about the 'best-rounded' phone for the money. It may not excel in any regard but it doesn't have any major weaknesses either. My biggest problem with it is that it doesn't have a notification LED. Otherwise it's a good all-round phone.

So it is £179?

Queue the Moto G fan boys. This has a micro sd slot!

I've got an S4 still so won't be buying one but I've been on one and they're not bad, especially for £100.

No. You buy it on a PAYG basis rather than Sim Free. As mentioned, all CPW phones come unlocked without any network branding - they just provide a PAYG sim card for whichever network you CLAIM to use with £10 credit. You can either use the sim, sell it or just chuck it away and use your current sim card.

The only exception to the rule with CPW phones is the Iphone - this locks to the first network sim card you insert in the phone.

Buy Moto G instead...

Ok, so even tho Im using tesco sim, I can add any network phone to my basket and it isnt locked? How do you know they are all unlocked? Sorry, not a phone geek

This phone is ok, main benefit is the MicroSD slot but otherwise the Moto G trumps it on everything else.

Samsung Touchwiz familiarity and brand name trust will be good for someone upgrading from a Galaxy Ace or a Galaxy Y

If you are already with o2, Orange, T-Mobile you may be able to pay just the £99.95 without the £10 top-up. You just ask for an upgrade, as long as you have topped up in last 6 months and not upgraded before in last 6 months, then £99.95 is all you pay.

You can get a Moto G for £100 from Vodafone or O2. Or Amazon but the wait is 1-2 months. Moto G brand new on EBay plus £10 o2 voucher £105.... I have the Moto G and a Nexus 4. Much prefer the Moto its quicker for apps and browsing. Better screen. Better battery

If you are with Tesco, then select the O2 network from CPW (Tesco use the O2 network).

Anyone with a s4 mini and a Moto G will tell which to get.

Moto G has no SD card and no removable battery.

To get any decent usage from a Moto G, you would need the £150+ 16GB or 32GB version............ and still you are limited on usage and performance (the camera is awful).

It's tempting good deal but my worries lies in the app updates as they get bigger & BIGGER in size with each release let alone Samsungs' OS & firmware updates then you have 3rd party apps to contend with.

You can't change the hardware but the software doesn't stop updating with new features. Better app programming & optimisation & development is where it's needed to extend the product life cycle but then how is Samsung gonna make even more money as they can't just rely on the app eco-system alone. They'll have to stop at some point on each handset generation before no more updates guys/gals, go buy the new SGS4 Mini or why not wait a while for the all new dancing SGS5 Mini.

These are really **** phones, I have bought quite a few of these for a business and various things go wrong with them including mics not working, charging port getting bust, poor signal reception (known issue) .... you'd be better spending your money on a Moto G!

all phones from CPW are unlocked. However to be on safe side, get the one with T-mobile and it will definitely work with Virgin sim

What an awful phone

Stupid throwaway comments from people. If you think the phone is "awful" then tell us what phone you have. It's probably £200+ more, so of course you will think it's a bad phone or a slow phone.
I bought one of these from the Carphone Warehouse when the same deal was on at Xmas and use it in Thailand with a Thai SIM card and it's a great all-round phone. As long as I can take half decent pictures, Skype, access the intenet (AIS 3G Thailand). The phone has a good wifi receiver and I'm also a fan of the Swiftkey Keyboard. I didn't think I'd like it but I've never sent Whatsapp's so fast in my life!
Great for a 2nd phone, and perfect for me when abroad (which can be often).

May be you have been unlucky. We have 3 in our family and no issues with any of them.

Yes they are not the fastest of phones, but for the size they are very good phones.

Thanks OP, ordered one!
