I agree with you battery is crap takes a week to charge a few hours to deplete stay away. Other halfs was fine they did some update then ever since it would only charge to about 50% over night and not last long once taken off charge.

Had the phone for 2 years before upgrading to s5 never had a issue with the battery was always better than my girlfriend iphone when we went out so couldn't be that bad. heat added

mine still working perfectly if not a bit slow. but ill custom rom it soon. had a few little niggles over the years but nothing major. seems to sort itself out.

I was having this problem with slow charge, in fact the battery would drain whilst charging.

I did nothing with the settings, bought no new battery. Could have just been my USB (authentic came with phone), dug out another one and it charges to 100% in an hour / hour and half.

Might not help but worth a punt, ill admit batterys crap. I'm a very heavy user though and I get around 6-8hours, there's a 7200mah Anker S3 battery about. Its bulky but will last a good day or two

infact mine went dodgy after the update, new USB and its fine

I have one of this using more than two years without any issues except slow speed compared to new smartphones. It's battery is ok for me holds more than a day.i am not a heavy user though.

My battery life went crap after the stock 4.3 update so I put a custom ROM called Slimkat on it and the battery life is much improved.

At this price, I think this is a better option than a moto g 4g, as it has a much better camera (front and back). Though in day to day use, I believe the moto g would be better as it's not crippled by Samsung's bloatware.

My batterys fine, I mean it doesn't last very long but what model phone does there all pants. Bargain at £150

I using cyanagenmod 11 and I'm running at 4.4.4 kitkat so no upgrading for me yet runs like a dream

Never had a problem with mine & its over 2 years old. The battery charges with no problems using a playbook charger very quickly aswell.
A great phone at a great price

Exactly the same for me.
Works great.

Buy official Samsung extended battery, lasts atleast a day with heavy usage.

I'm happy with mine, just lacking 4g but I'm in no rush for that

I agree, I bought two S3's in December, (unfortunately not at this excellent price) they both charge quite quickly never had any problems whatsoever.

ZeroLemon (7000mah) and Anker (7200mah) both make good quality high-capacity batteries for the S3 - both around £30 on Amazon (the ZeroLemon one is cheaper if you go direct to ZeroLemon UK - £27 delivered)
ZeroLemon also do a 2300mah battery for 7 quid, which is the largest capacity that will fit whilst still retaining the original battery cover.

Both ZeroLemon and Anker are well established, trustworthy manufacturers, so don't be scared if you're not familiar with the brand names.

Mine charges full in a few hours, lasts about 24hrs. Fine for me...

Is this unlocked out of the box ? Can't see it says either way in the advert.

(looks further)

I see it is when added to basket.

I charged mine using samsung galaxy tab 7 charger. Fast charged !!!
Hot for the price.

Agreed with the comments here about charging, yes can be slow with original charger, but using a playbook charger or the likes of, it charges from flat to full, in about 2 hours max....

Is this same deal available in-store?

Im waiting for a grade A S4 to come in stock in Smartfonestore, fingers crossed it wont be much longer!!!

Great price for a nice phone. Had mine since last year (July) when I bought if from Amazon for a then very decent £260.The 4.3 updates didn't do it any big favours, but that's the software and could potentially happen with any future Samsung updates too regardless of your Samsung model. I never buy the latest phone, so in a year or two I'll be looking for the S5 as an upgrade and let everyone else pay top dollar. :-)

Bargain, I paid £270 last year. Have spread the word to family and friends. Expect mad rush of people around Leicester stores :-)

Will that make the phone significantly bulkier?

Another user here on CyanogenMod 11 (M8 release) and it's pretty much as quick as it was the day I bought it, minus the samsung bloatware

S3 charging issues can quite often be related to the shoddy usb cable that Samsung supply for the charger, swap it out for a couple of quids worth of something better and the slow charging issue may be resolved - failing that make sure your device has the most recent firmware on it as the initial 4.3 release from Sammy sucked massively in every way possible, and some networks have been slow to roll out the subsequent updates - so may be worth going for a generic firmware rather than operator branded.

Running Samsung's I9300XXUGND1 firmware, my S3's battery charges fully in around a couple of hours, and on Jellybean 4.3 I can get anything up to 40 - 45 hours up-time off a charge on the original battery (with wi-fi always on, plus apps like ebay, Gmail, K9, BBC Weather, etc, etc syncing all day)

So the general consensus is that the phone is only good if you install CyanogenMod on it? I have CyanogenMod on my Nook Hd tablet and it is good, but if you put it on this new phone the guarantee will be worthless.

Look for the one the one that is just the battery on it's own - available with prime free delivery for £6.99

No it won't as the S3 has no Knox flag to trip, and according to EU Directive 1999/44/CE rooting or installing different software doesn't automatically invalidate your warranty - plus you could always flash it back to stock, run Triangle Away and unroot before returning in the event of a problem.

If this is Sim free, and you are not tied to a network, wouldn't you automatically get the latest update for this through wifi? or is 4.3 the latest Samsung do in this country?

Thaks, not a lot of reviews, I wonder how much battery life would this give you? Of course depends a lot on the usage, for instance my Moto G allows me to charge it just once a day, with about 20% left to go when I plug it in, wifi is always on, 3g always on, screen on Auto all the time, I do have days when I don't make more than a 10 min call so light usage there. Otherwise, whatsapp, texts and light browsing, I suppose that is the usage pattern for most users, that do not game.

had tje phone now for over 2years. still going strong.... only small issue couple months ago, with charging from mains but phone kept thinking it usb. dropped it off to samsung repair centre and 48hrs later returned working as new. highly recommended.

I think that JB 4.3 firmware revision I9300XXUGMK6 is the latest that Sammy made available in the UK through Wi-fi or Kies, but for a sim-free S3 (I9300 model number) any unbranded EU firmware should work fine as they will all offer UK English language (my current install is based on Italian firmware but works without issue in the UK)

Check sammobile.com/ for firmware images (BE CAREFUL, DON'T DO IT IF YOU ARE NOT SURE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
