So I was looking for good cheap phones and came across this great deal for a Samsung Galaxy S5! I've used a Samsung Galaxy S5 before so I definitely recommend getting this phone for a pretty decent price. But you have to hurry up though. It's running out of stock quite quickly!

Sorry but £279 for an S5 seems a bit rubbish to me!

This looks like a better deal from a reputable company - I bought a blue one of these for my mum from Argos a few months ago and it was in brand new condition - everything intact including the front screen cover. These are just customer returns and damaged box items as far as I can tell.

S6 is great if you're not interested in micro sd card slot, removable battery and waterproof.

S5 here for £230 from the Samsung Outlet site.

As well as other Samsung phones

S5 is a very under rated phone, still using mine after nearly 2 years (2 in June) until the S7 there's been nothing out there that could offer the same specs waterproof & sd card.

I used my S5 a lot at Center Parcs in the pool etc and it's still going strong now, got some great footage of my kids swimming under water really really impressive. I'll be getting an S7 in the summer now Samsung have seen the light & put those 2 things back in their flagship phone.

Considering the price of the S7 this is VERY reasonable

Good phone but I paid less than this a year ago so poor deal.

If anyone has one of these, I'd strongly recommend rooting and installing a custom firmware on it. I did it on mine at the weekend, and the impact it's had has been colossal. The phone now is much more responsive, much quicker, the battery lasts longer, signal seems to be a tiny bit better (that is, I didn't lose data connection at work today, where I normally do), camera has improved in quality, and there are now tones of handy new features, like a nifty bandwidth monitor next to my signal display OK the task bar. It's made the phone much nicer to use.

A lot of people can't be bothered with all that - myself included. Not only does it invalidate your two year warranty but it means lots of apps won't work - such as Sky and general banking apps. It also means you'll lose OTA updates and have

...to resort to updating whatever ROM you're using manually every time.

In the early days of Android I was happy to root and play about but nowadays devices are so good that if I'm not happy with the battery life, signal or fluidity of my device then I'll just send the flipping thing back and order a different phone.

All recent Sony phones are ip68 waterproof and dustproof and have Micro SD slots?

Not true. Mine is rooted, has the joy of Xposed framework, still has KNOX status of 0x0 so warranty is intact, still has original CSC but is now de-branded, plus it's running a significantly newer, more up to date security patched stock based rom than is available in the UK via OTA on any network or sim-free (BPB2)
True about sky go, but that's the only app (banking included) I've found that doesn't run with root - you could always just use root cloak for pretty much any other.

I simply don't have spare time for faffing. If I buy a phone it has to be good; I'm not going to *make* it good because I didn't pay good money to do the work for Samsung. With so much competition in mobile phones nowadays rooting and romming simply isn't for me; though I've nothing against anyone who enjoys doing it.

The S5 would need to be around £200 to be a good buy at this point in time.

I like this, but out of stock for delivery. Could not find any store stock anywhere near me. Any good deals for an S5 or is the Argos Ebay refurb the best option?
Looking for a decent phone with features of the S5 (especially removable battery) that should last a few years of typical use. My Note 2 has just died on me after 2.5years and I'm looking for something similar. Should I stretch my budget and find something with 3GB ram? I don't play games but a half-decent camera is a must.
