Giffgaff will be offering the S5 for £529 which is the cheapest I've seen it SIM free. Next cheapest was a pre-order with Asda Direct at £537.

If you click the link to Giffgaff you somehow get sent to a Free SIM referral scheme. Just navigate back to the Giffgaff home page or see the following link for all of the details:

How is it a rip-off if it is the cheapest available? This isn't a personal opinion site, it's supposed to help people pay as little for the item as possible. If you post a cheaper S5 then I will agree with you.

Really????

I've never had a samsung and I don't want one but this is a hot deal. Heated and microwaved too!

I wouldn't recommend microwaving a Samsung Galaxy S5 unless you're confident about your home insurance...

I guess this is the cheapest so far. Thanks.

Do people really spend this much on a phone?

Never purchasing a Samsung product again, terrible customer service team, no communication between them and their repair centres... just full on useless. In the 5th month of waiting now for them to sort and return my partners phone which was only in use for 3 months!

most ive paid is around £400 for one, but that + my sim only deal works out cheaper in the long run
would prefer to do that than pay £30+ per month for 2 years

I think he is comparing this against something like a nexus 5, or a moto g , which while both are excellent value for money and very little/nil manufacturer overlay, are very different phones to the Samsung s5.

Either that or he is a troll, and I just fed him....oO

no not on an android phone..

As a price or deal for the S5, then this is a good price. I agree with everyone.

If it's anything to go by though, I won't be buying another Samsung smartphone after all the issues with the infamous "swollen battery" issue on the S4 and various other problems.

you could do so much more with 500 squid

saving humanity from terrible phones and voting cold.

Clove Technology are probably slightly better (and more knowledgeable) than ASDA at £534.00 even the blue colour!!!

for that sort of money may as well buy an iphone!

Probably a good price for this particular phone but if it's Android you're after, save yourself some money and buy something like a Google (LG) Nexus 5, HTC One (M8), LG G2 or spend the same money on a Sony Xperia Z2 instead.

I don't but some people do and they're entitled to do that. Whatever your opinion is, is no one else's business.

Cold as in like the deals you post you mean

The cheapest new England shirt I've seen is £49.99. Just because that was the cheapest available, doesn't mean it can't be a rip-off at the same time.

Personally, I can't imagine that the new wave of smart phones (HTC M8, Xperia Z2 etc) are going to stay above £500 for long. Unless you desperately need this phone this week, I don't know why you'd buy this at this price point.

Ugly phone and cheap plastic body......come on, Samsung....you can do better, don't get too comfortable ....

Does the UK finally get the octo-core (8 cores) CPU on this update or will it quad-core like the S4?

If it's the latter then I think I'll be replacing my S3 with some other make.

I don't understand how this is hot? I am looking for good deals, not best rip off price deals.
Does anyone actually pay £500+ for a phone? Buy a nexus 5. Just as good, half the price.

Best price so far...

Give it a month it'll be around £300 :L

this phone is no better than a lg g2.if fact you can say a g2 is better.larger screen.smaller body.and near half the cost of a s5.

Dehumanization

Currently experiencing that for myself Won't be buying a Samsung phone again unless I get pleasantly surprised pretty soon.

I can confirm that it is not a good idea to microwave a phone.

Samsung is trying to milk it's popularity before Microsoft fully unleash subsidised priced Nokias on the market later this year .I would not pay so much money for a phone these days when phones with better cameras and lack of lag are going for under £200..

yes

Not voting, price may be best yet but it's still preorder and it's unlikely there will be shortages.

On a purely personal standpoint my SGS2 was amazing - never thought I'd say that about a sammy. My SGS3 has bee awful however and all my friends s4's have proven similar. Samsung are barking if they think this is worth ~£100 more than the new HTC One M8.

I've just bought a Lumia 920 for £140 new. Very impressed. If M$ can do what RIM failed to do and get apps in the store I think they'll do very well in the next couple years.

lol just lol

I get a feeling that this is only getting hot because its from giffgaff. I still don't understand why everybody loves giffgaff so much but this deal is just a rip off. The HTC One M8 RRP's at £530 and there are deals posted for £470. Now that is still expensive, but its a somewhat deal. This is like £10 cheaper than normal but because its giffgaff, its getting voted hot.

Anyways, if this deal helps anybody out then its great but realistically, who's actually going to buy this phone at that price?

Rather get my old mercury one to one M301 out the drawer

justicesj

people spend more on computers but the tech in phones is way more advanced

tempting - but I have an s4 do not much point. agree we shall see what the new Microsoft phones will do - it was a smart move buying nokia

Lol? He has a point. How is this phone worth twice the price of a Nexus 5 if the only main advantage is the better camera? Heck the N5 actually beats the S5 when it comes to build quality, design, size, weight and software.

Smartphones have now matured to a point where upgrades offer minimal improvement. 2014 is going to be a somewhat dead year when it comes to smartphones unless there is some real innovation.

I bet all the oligarchs in London will be getting one of these.
