Samsung Galaxy S5 back to £289 Includes £10 top up @ Vodafone! (in store)

I know this got posted when it first arrived and the deal expired as it had ended, however Vodafone are now selling the handset for £279 plus £10 top up again!

Been into store today and confirmed this is the case and deal is available Instore!

WARNING:

If you need to use Vodafone to unlock this phone they will make it an absolute nightmare.
I purchased this phone on 24th December and it still isn't unlocked yet.

No Ebay unlock codes worked because it wasn't found on their database.

Vodafone have been extremely unhelpful and an absolute nightmare to deal with.

I regret buying this phone because of all the grief I've had in trying to get it unlocked.

Most stores have sold out. Think you were lucky to find one.
If you do manage to find one, don't expect to be able to unlock it this side of 2016!
beats paying £320 from Samsung unlocked ebay guy charging £10 to unlock
Expired. Visited the shop today and out of stock

just because your local shop is out of stock doesn't make it expired...

My local store in Stourbridge still has stock of them. As will other stores, it's just how hard you look I suppose.

eBay guys are not able to unlock, they don't have the codes for the new batch of phones.
Tried getting a One M8 today but out of stock. Said they will be getting some new stock in tomorrow and to check then, but couldn't specify whether that will include the One M8. I won't hold my breathe
my local stll has plenty of stock
Or get a Lumia 830.

Ebay worked for me
Vodafone Canary Wharf (London) had stock on Saturday
There's still a lot of people who've been unable to use their phone for a month because Vodafone make unlocking the phone so difficult.

Ebay unlock codes aren't working for a lot of people either.
Do'nt waste your money on S5. THL only £79, does everything S5 does hotukdeals.com/dea…472
I'm waiting for an official unlock code direct from Vodafone now. I bought the handset just after Christmas. I had a few failed attempts with eBay so just decided to go the official route. The difference in price is only about £6/7.

4G?
I'm stuck without a working phone at the moment because Vodafone won't/can't unlock it, so beware of this deal if you're looking to use the phone on a mobile phone network other than Vodafone's. That said, based on my experience of Vodafone's customer services I can't see why anyone would want to use them as a network anyway.
my s3 is getting on a bit now so in this price range is this the best to go for ? how about the one plus one? or m8 (not sure on m8 price).
They will often say they are out of stock but reallly it's because they can't be bothered to sell it as it doesn't make the staff much money.
Their computer systems work by mostly only having one type of stock- what the computer sees as contract only stock and to be able to sell one as a pay as you go phone which is effectively what this is, they have to fiddle on the computer to swap it over to be able to sell it so a lot of the time the time they either Cba or they'd rather just sell it on a contract. Might be worth trying to catch them out and asking if they have it available on contract and then ask to buy it instead when they say they have stock

Lumia 830 or 730.
I got my unlock code from eBay for £13
I was so tempted by this, or the M8 all month, but went for a Z2 in the end, which i think is the equal of these phones and has some extra plus points, waterproof, noise cancelling earphones (check the box though) and iplayer works on it fine, if you stay on 4.4.2 (a biggie for me till they sort that app out for 4.4.4.
Stock is a bit odd, There was virtually none in NW London, but some in Watford and Marble Arch had 5...

All great phones i reckon.

Where was this?

In regards to unlocking it. If anyone is brave enough they can get the HTC to S-OFF and then get rid of the Vodafone bloat ROM. Something like Sunshine for around 15 quid also does this quick and easy and then you can put on a European Stock Rom or something instead.

Obviously this route isn't something most people will want/or be able to do though.
Is this the first model S5 or the updated model if you know what I mean?

IIRC in the big thread on this it was the first model only.

Ahh OK - I was hoping they had dumped the 1st Gen's out and these were the 2nd Gen's by now.
