It’s worth every penny of £379, you are getting some serious specs for that price

I have one. Even released today this would be a class leading phone in many ways.

- Great battery life (3600mah)
- Waterproof
- Fantastic amoled display
- Wireless charging
- Amazing camera
- Fingerprint sensor in a non-silly place

I've just smashed mine so looking around for a new phone, and can't find anything even close in price that takes decent pictures/doesn't have any big drawbacks. So will just get another probably used off ebay.

Should be more £350. But still a good price for brand new when you look at how much people ask for them second hand! I'm still holding out for a s8 for £450 if that doesn't happen plenty cheap contracts going right now.

If your on topcashback you can get £20 cashback on simfree handsets from Carphone warehouse + Carphone warehouse are giving out prizes if you upload your proof of purchase. Very tempted. . . or should I wait til black Friday and see if anything better comes along 🤔

Do reckon it's worth the wait tbh. Close to £350 is gonna be standard price soon I think, so with xmas coming too I don't think this is a one off deal by any means. I bought mine for £210 on ebay used (I got lucky) but more normal price is £280-£340 depending on condition, so this price for brand new is still very good purely in that context.

I would be extremely unhappy paying £379 for a flagship 2016 phone, very very unhappy, if you're desperate for this phone new then well you're desperate.

what happens with warranty for the phone if you buy from eBay? That's the only thing that puts me off

First, before buying ask seller for proof of purchase/email/anything - as much as because people will lie about when/how was purchased. Anyone who's cagey I rule out straight away.

Second there's a website called imei.info (free registration) you can ask seller for imei, this will then tell you when manufactured and when sold I think. As far as I know you should have a 2yr warranty with Samsung (if no retailer proof of purchase).

Lastly ebay is the safest place to buy in the world, any issues whatsoever and it's an automatic refund and you send it back to the seller. No quibble, if it doesn't match the description (in your opinion) you can return no questions asked, even if seller says they don't accept returns (I sell a lot and it's a pain, but great for buyers).

So if you do your homework it can be quite safe. I bought mine for £280 and it was way more scratched than seller had listed it as, they gave me £70 partial refund because they couldn't be bothered with having it back and relisting.

One thing to watch with these, if you smash the display/lcd as I've just done - costs £220 due to curved glass so uneconomical to repair.

Price is about right considering the Samsung s9 will be with us soon

After the Galaxy Note battery mess this was my 'stop gap' until the Note 8 buf it has far exceeded all expectations. Get handset and a steal at this price

This is a good price. I posted the John Lewis deal it has been a tenner cheaper on very and Amazon but stock is short. I'm typing on mine now. There were no other phones offering this spec for the price. Closest is the LG g6 but no wireless charging. And s7 camera is better.
A few Chinese phones such as ZTE axon 7 are good spec but not waterproof and no wireless charging etc.
The Xiaomi mi phones are fantastic but no nfc.
And even if the s8 drops to 500 from a reputable English seller it's still over 100 more.
Anyway I'm happy with mine.

Given the heat and the comments lately, I don't think you'll be receiving too many 'likes'.
I'm going to hold out for BF deals, as £379 seems to be the trending price (looks like a good choice for a mobile, imo)

Would not pay more then £99 for iPhone X, that's why I am still using 3310.

Show me a 2017 phone at £379 that has better specs? Just because it was released in 2016 doesnt mean it's worthless. It just means it's reached a great price for what was top of the range 12 months prior.

S8 is £550 roughly so £200 saving for the previous version.... sounds good to me

£210 for a scratched phone

If you are happy with that then good for you.

Of course I was at the time it was worth around £260 in that condition, £210 was the bargain of the century as far as I was concerned.

To be clear it was sold as near perfect and wasn't, but was still pretty good i.e. no scratches you could see without looking in the right light etc.

Hell, even an s7e with a broken screen goes for about £150!

Had one of these. The selfie camera has annoying softening to point I looked Asian and I’m white (even with the beauty features etc turned off) and it’s a brittle beast (I never broke mine but every other one I saw was cracked. I used a survivor case clear and that also stopped pressing the back button in bottom right with my palm). This is a great phone with 16:9 aspect that is let down by the terrible software. Had to reset mine 3 times in 6 months and sold on. However at this price I think it’s great value as great screen, battery and front facing fingerprint plus micro SD to name a few.

Worthless? I never said that. If you separate that in to two words then yes I did say that. Xiaomi Mi 6 is much cheaper. Plenty of Huawei phones compete. OnePlus 5 etc etc.

£379 is too much, it was a very good phone from last year with a very good camera. However buying now also means you're forgoing updates that you'll definitely get with 2017 phones.

Just checked Carphone warehouse website and its currently £10 cheaper at £369! Every little helps

Just a thought: Samsung's homepage has a big banner announcing black friday offers. The phone pictured is an s7 edge. Maybe it's nothing, but why not a picture of the s8 or the note...

Samsung's current black Friday deal for the s7 edge is £200 off making it £399 so not that good a deal

Just got an email saying order cannot be fulfilled!! I hate CPW.

Oh and I have to wait 10 days for a refund what a joke of a company I will NEVER shop there as long as I live
