Just how do Music Magpie refurbish a phone ? With a damp cloth?
danflorin31 h, 53 m ago

Wow..that was a deal!!!!

You know I believe Samsung is doing a similar thing as Apple with their S-range, and they're just adding a few bells and whistles the following year after a new flagship release (although Samsung do make more changes to the chassis, where as Apple tend to stick to the design for their S models. Take the S6 Edge Plus, totally radical in design comparison to the S5. Then the S7 Edge was basically a slightly improved S6 Edge Plus (although some people actually prefer the S6 Edge Plus) then you have the S8, which is a pretty radical change from the S7. Now if the S9 leaks are accurate (and we've every reason to believe they are) then the S9 is set to be a slightly improved S8. I fully expect the S10 (if there's going to be such a thing) to be a radical redesign again. But like you said, I'm not too concerned about getting the S9, and not looking forward to the release like I was with the S8.

Sorry, was meant to reply that to Brummy, but you're welcome to read it too of course

Great price, but Luckily I got the Samsung S8 deal for £350 ( Argos refurbish) a couple of months ago ( phone was like brand new ) the S9 will be out soon , but it looks likes it’s not much of an improvement from the S8 , & will definitely be more expensive to buy, so I reckon prices / deals for the S8 are the ones to look out for

Good deal, however it's only 6% at Quidco.
Nice find
Exactly how much this phone is worth. Flagship killer for me at the moment at this price.
Pristine at this price is super HOT 😁
i saw an ad in my local game for the same phone for £179.99 just today i was going to buy one but decided against it as i have an s6 maybe i was wrong to make that move or my game store is over stocked of them

I have had this since launch and it's okay... The software isnt the best as it always thinks you are touching the edge when one hand typing.

Also the fingerprint sensor is made from a soft plastic and gets scratched to hell under standard usage.
Weren't Music Magpie in the news recently? Something about store closures because they're going bankrupt?

Not sure but ToyrUs are gone bankrupt.
Can`t understand why S7 is more expensive than S7 Edge..??..

I don't think they're going bankrupt, it's just that their high street stores are struggling to make a profit. Their online business is apparently still thriving.

MusicMagpie could close ALL its That's Entertainment stores
good find. thanks

This is a great phone and better than most on the market today. Build quality imo is amazing. I will be getting the S9 when it comes out but this phone is an amazing deal.

I can agree with that. I had one and did like it other than the odd slowdowns (I’m sure that’s Samsung software, I haven’t had it on Sony phones). The fingerprint sensor scratches so easily, it’s definitely not sapphire like Apple’s ones!

I got rid of mine when I had the grey line AMOLED failure after two months. Samsung support were awful, I ended up demanding a refund.

It’s a good phone overall but the curved edge is a gimmick and also makes it very hard to protect from damage and scratches.
It costs at least £250 to change the screen if it breaks. Stupid and purposely designed. It's a bit like having to throw a car away if you get a puncture because it's so expensive to fix.
I'm typing off my edge. Which has more cracks in then the popes forehead.
However it is still going strong, delicate exterior but a bulletproof phone none the less.
Had an s7 edge from music magpie. Phone was pristine however the battery barely lasted till lunchtime with light usage. Tried everything short of replacing battery and rooting it to sort it. Returned it in the end.

How can it be delicate and bulletproof simultaneously

I meant the internals. Obviously.
You'd take one look (at my phone incase you needed to ask another obvious question) and wonder how it still functions perfectly.

I don't know why people keep comparing this to Apple's iPhone. The Samsung has been consistently far superior to the equivalent iPhone flagship every single year. In fact last year, the S8 was even further ahead of the iPhone flagship (iPhone X) as the S8 was universally considered the best phone in the world and the iPhone X wasn't even second best, instead falling behind the latest Google Pixel (usually the iPhone flagship is the second best choice, if you can live with Apple's Walled Garden ecosystem).
Recommended buying a case which has 'lips' on the top and bottom, ive dropped my s7 edge a gazillion times on tile/stone floors and no damage. Any cheap one will do, i got one off ebay for £2.50 and works wonders.
A second hand 2 year old phone for the thick end of 300 quid? Doesn't sound that great a deal to me.

Sorry, I don't believe you. The S7 is more fragile than a butterfly in a force ten blowing breeze blocks and will shatter the minute the use it or place it onto a feather pillow. And it will cost more than the launch RRP because Samsung deliberately made it hard to fix.

I'm having to type this on a Bluetooth keyboard as the edge makes it impossible to use one handed and the fingerprint sensor has become completely abraded by my silky soft hands.

Talk of the S7 edge fragility is overstated. I've had mine since launch, dropped it, carried it on my handlebars off road for thousands of miles, operated it with muddy hands, the edge has never bothered me and there are just a couple of tiny black marks on the home button.

Some people are just clumsy.
I'd be concerned about the life of the battery in a two year old phone, they're not easy to replace.

Apart from the processor which is about three years behind.
I got the Samsung galaxy S7 (None Edge) delivered today - but the charger + headphone were missing - is this normal?

Was in excellent condition except for finger scanner - had marks on it.
Also if the battery doesn't last half a day - can I easily return the phone?

I saw this in game too but it is when you trade in a phone not the price they sell them at.

Glad yours has been robust. The AMOLED on mine ceased to function after four weeks of usage (was a brand new phone), having never been dropped or faced a heavy impact, and with the phone being in pristine condition without a single scratch or crack. Samsung refused to repair it within warranty, with a tech stating that the display can suffer pressure damage from something as innocuous as the phone knocking against your kneecap at the wrong angle in your trouser pocket. Essentially they will refuse all responsibility for any screen or display damage unless there has been a critical mass of complaints about an issue that has ended up in the media. £199 to repair, and that price only if walking the phone into a Samsung Experience Centre (if you go via Samsung call centre or online they send it to a contracted 3rd party who can charge what they want, so £250+, but Samsung will never let you know that you're paying far above their own stated maximum repair prices).

I've been using Galaxy S phones for 6 years and never had any problem with build quality until getting an edge model this year.

Don't think headphones are normally included but you should get a usb wire. I didn't get a plug with mine either just a cable. Used my previous charger.
