best price so far, heat added

Does it improve picture quality? I'm not knowledgeable about cameras.
EDIT: Looked at reviews. A common complaint is it actually decreases picture quality. Wow, this has put me off. I'll buy the keyboard case instead.

This is for the S7 and you're thinking of the Note 7. As if these 'funny jokes' haven't already been done to death anyway...

Doesn't matter; the "Galaxy" brand is now tainted, banned from US flights etc. that's the problem with them calling all their devices by the same name. X)

No it isn't. If you're going down that route, it's either Samsung or their "Note" line that are tainted. It's only the Note 7 (which has been fully withdrawn from sale) which was banned from.
If they opt to make another Note, and it's good enough, it'll sell. The people that buy the Note line but them because they're the best at what they do. They don't buy them because they're a fashion accessory, they'll never rival the S line for sales bit that's not the point of them.

people with common sense know the difference

Not sure I see the value in these - I like everyone take many photos on my phone because it's convenient it's always there, but if I have to carry these in my pocket and not much smaller than a compact camera (which would have better zoom etc) then why bother - better just to carry the proper thing surely ? am I missing the plot somewhere ?

Unfortunately as this thread shows, the general uninformed and 'people trying to be funny' (and failing) don't know the difference between an S7 or Note 7. Again it's only the Note 7 that's banned and is under recall, the S7 and Edge are largely fine (one reported incident but still less than incidents for iPhones - as an example).

What we see here is brand trust degradation. As far as my mum and her friends are concerned all Samsung mobiles are exploding. One of her friends removed the battery from her old clamshell Samsung. I reassured her it was only a very specific device affected.

Samsung is bleeding because of this.

People were still making jokes about bendy iphones for ages. I suppose we have a long time yet left of exploding Galaxy jokes. Can you blame them? Unlike bendy iphone, This issue ACTUALLY ENDANGERS LIVES..

Really? Thought the S7 camera was rated well. Can you recommend a phone with a good camera? Looking for one for my dad.

If you honestly think the camera on the S7 is crap then you must have your finger over the lens or something.

Well, I agree with that but that's like people thinking all iPhones have the signal issue after the iPhone 4. They (Samsung) handled it as well as they reasonably could rather than brush it under the carpet (after all, it was 100 devices in millions sold, so as a percentage minimal). The media and tabloids made this worse.

All Lithium batteries are at risk of fire, and I can't comment on what caused the Note 7 issue but because of the sheer power density, faulty electronics can cause problems.

On another note, the S7 has the best camera quality of this generation of phones, the iPhone 7 edges it out in video but for stills the S7 wins.

It only endangers lives if you're stupid enough to continue to use the device after repeated recalls - the amount of continued issues after the first recall in September was shocking. The cynic in me says some people capitalised on the fault - did you see the guy in America with the crappy Jeep that claimed it was modified and worth tens of thousands! Who leaves the phone charging in their car, on a hot day, with the ignition on and then walks off?

If it doesn't blow in your hand. I know I know it's not Note

Oh I see, blame the victim. It's their fault, not at all Samsung's. Yep. He should've known that he'd bought an exploding phone. How silly of him.

Yes I am 'blaming the victim', how stupid do you have to be after something is very publicly recalled for being faulty and dangerous to continue using it? We are talking about a phone here so buying a cheap interim handset is not difficult or expensive. If someone told you your car had faulty brakes and to bring it in for service would you keep driving it?

I didn't say Samsung was blameless and there have been countless people who have been trying it on to extract money from their insurance over the recall.

Whereas I feel sorry for the people that have had their phones catch fire I just couldn't resist my little jape :). I do find it really funny and do feel some schadenfreude at so many Samsung people's sangfroid. Iphone users have accepted 'funny' comments about reception and bendy phones for years. at least they don't get hot under the collar

How very shallow and judgemental of you.

not everyone watches the news or even has a television. many don't even read newspapers. so how do you know all this insurance fraud is happening ? insurance claims may be happening but that doesn't mean it's fraud.

Right. So you have a flagship mobile phone and you have no concept of the news or anything else on your always connected smartphone.

The insurance fraud is real; when some people are asked to hand in the devices they mysteriously can't, refuse or just never took it any further. There have been real claims and that's fine but a number have tried to capitalise on the situation. And I really don't care if you think it's judgemental and shallow (what some stranger on the Internet thinks doesn't bother me), there has been enough publicity on this matter that unless you live under a rock virtually everyone knows about it or at least your friends or family do. It's good that you have so much faith in humanity that you think everyone is honest but that's far from the truth.

Edit: I just wanted to add that I didn't fabricate the 'insurance fraud' claim, it was relatively widely documented in the news as well (but obviously not in the same articles as the victim stories)

Got this today, the case itself is nice, only slightly chunkier than a slim case. Will try out the lenses over the weekend.

where did i say have 'no concept of the news' ? I said don't watch the news or read papers. for many people that is a personal choice. it's not an indication of lack of a intellect, technical awareness or being a Luddite.. many people use their smartphone (whether 'flagship' lol or not) to remain in contact with their work and family throughout the day. I have for years travelling overseas. it may surprise you but many people are simply too busy to waste time reading papers and watching the news even if they do own a 'flagship' lol smartphone

I wasn't saying there was no insurance fraud. however, your implication that anyone claiming after it had been in the papers was likely to be committing fraud is clearly erroneous and simply judgemental.
