I find the worst thing about these is the yellowing that occurs to the case. It's horrible

I've done it for my phones for years and so far it's saved them.
Only with my current phone have i got a case that cost £20 (didn't have to pay myself) and it's not much better. The price is only as it's from a mobile retailers store. Complete rip off.

Most cases should be £5 or less!

If it cost 29.99 would it protect the phone by better?

It's a light thin silicone cover. The fact that it's so cheap reflects how simple and low cost it is, I don't know why you feel the need to scoff at that.

Maybe two crackers...one either side, held together with elastic bands...this would absorb some of the impact, if only dropped once.

Also handy if you feel hungry before lunch.

You're right...I should have held out for the same case for at least £10.

No. You should buy proper case. If You damage phone new screen cost £200-300 instead of £10-20. As well if You damage back glass they can refuse any free repair under warranty.

But the cost of the case does not correlate with how well it protects the phone.

The materials, design, and size of the case do, but not the price.

You can buy branded that are light like this for a lot more money. But again, they won't just magically protect the phone better because they cost more.

Try Rhinoshield. More on YouTube.

Now they have cases with back cover - solidsuit.

Thank you for the info I watched a few videos.

I have a few questions though...

Screens crack usually when people drop their phones outside, and a stone or raised bit in the pavement hits the screen, from my experience. Then a lot of force is suddenly concentrated on a single point in the screen. Do you not think that a bumper case would be inadequate in this type of situation?

Right now I have a glass screen protector, and this same 99p case from this deal. I can quickly remove the case to use gear vr. Would you recommend a screen protector too?

My biggest concern is that I know the sudden impact as the phone hits the floor causes the damage. To prevent that, the case is soft to make the deacceleration more gradual when the phone drops.

Surely, unless you change the size of the outside bumper, then the impact absorbing will have to be the same right?
Would a cheap case therefore not offer almost identical protection?
Expired

There is no rule, some pepole drop the phone in home from 20 cm and sreen is destroyed. Other people drop the phone outside and screen is ok. Personally nerver droped my phone on any raised stones or surfaces but You can try screen protector from them.
